  • @WhiteOlaf the name of the song is called sakura and it was played by Koto(the japanese harp)

  • Thanks for this-- 45 years old and first time seeing this w/ 7 years old daughter-- these birds are magnificent.

  • had watched a similar footage via NatGeo months back wherein a couple was chasing cranes to personally experience watching this serene & breath-taking courtship crane dance that led them to a farm which is being taken cared of by an elderly somewhere in Japan... amazing! ur daughter did an awesome job! many thanks for sharing.

  • I just found this video and i have to say it took my breath away.

It is about the best I've seen in a long time, and your pick of music was perfect.

  • The music and dancing of the cranes made a most beautiful video. Thank you for sharing. The music is absolutely gorgeous, who did this piece. Sounds like traditional Japanese?

  • Absolutely magnificent!! I was just watching a video of a Korean dancer, and one of the comments was, "I call it the Red-Crowned Crane dance." His reply to me was so lovely that I immediately searched Red-Crowned Crane, and yours was the first video I watched. You did a beautiful job capturing their dance with perfect music, and the end was stunning. Thank you for sharing it with those of us who will never witness this for real...

  • I'm suprised japs don't kill these too.

  • So beautiful, it makes me want to cry! I'm most likely getting a tattoo of one of these guys!

  • Spectacular display isn't it ?? these courtship ritual are basically identification parades to help ensure that each species mates with its own kind. They cannot mate until they are stimulated by movement, gestures, color and correct sequence of call.I supposed it hold true for most animals and birds alike. The female ROCK DOVE doese not ovulate until she see her mate's courtship rituals.

  • They are leaping for love,an elaborate dance as a prelude to mating. The ritual start with the birds stretching out their wings and then strutting around each other.Often the performance reach a climax with an ecstatic leap ino the air.One specie, the sandhill crane of North America may jump as high as 20 feet even..

  • that beautiful thing...:)

  • Its beautiful clip, thanks for the post!!

One thing, Japanese culture centers seasonal affection.

Therefor, most Japanese will find it odd (mismatch) to see the cranes dance in a winter snow, with koto music playing "Sakura" (cheery blossom), which is the ode to the Spring.

  • @kentokyo Oh, haha, I just wrote I thought the music was perfect...the joke is on me and I should have studied it first!! I don't know anything of the language, and not much of the culture. Sorry!!

  • Thank you so much! This is what I call BEAUTY. Thank you!

  • that was beautiful; thanks for sharing.

  • I Love the Nature! I think the cranes are verry beautiful birds! I love them so much! This video is amazing & the music is great(what's the Name of this music?). Thanks for the video! Akos from Hungary!!!

  • music SAKURA is a song in the 1800's.

"crane lives a thousand year", is taken as lucky animals in such as japan.

    thanks for fantastic sharing

    Thank Gods of Nature!

  • Nature is the source of all beauty. You see those paintings in the museum of modern art were just trying to be Japanese cranes.

  • That's why Vincent van Gogh loved Japanese paintings so much.

  • the end was too beautiful. The way the bird flies, it's body, it's coloring- nature did a pretty good job at shaping this bird ;)

  • Thank you clover89 for your comment. My daughter who shot both those crane films, is the same age as you.

  • Yeah! Look at them go! Natures own "So you think you can dance"

I believe Crane #1,496 just got served.

  • this is beautiful

  • Another insightful and beautifully crafted video of this elegant species. It must be quite a pleasure to witness their beauty in the wild.
