Define high powered... The deer ran off after it was shot so I'd say that gun wasn't powerful enough for proper hunting.

Deer are color blind. They see blaze orange washed out. Take a blue film that you can look through and look at the blaze orange... that is how deer see. the bad side is that they see more into the UV spectrum so if you take a black light to the same blaze orange.. it will glow but that is because of the UV Dyes used in making the garments

you have to wear 50% blaze orange in iowa thats the state law, i've got busted by deer before wearing blaze orange and camo under it from head to toe, with scent killer on.. i dont know if their colored blind but if they take their time they will spot you out right away.

There not "color blind", they just cant see any RED (Maroon or Orange)... but they can see yellow & blue verry well (hints why we use UV killer) they can see all the natural colors of the woods just like we can tho.
