  • that's all I was looking for

    Thank you man

I bought his book, but i didn't know how to exactly play the moeller technique

I wish there was something related with the free stroke.

Do you know where can I find it? again, thanks

  • As a way to get this into my students head I speak of learning how to throw the sticks. I know you don't actually throw the stick but still getting the concept that the motion is whip, throw, toss. Any analogy to make student understand that the motion is relaxed, smooth, fluid, liquid, no tension. The stick stays in constant motion, or orbit. Way out man!

  • That's the thing its not a waist of energy. U missed the while point. This is if u want to play extremely loud without hurting urself and without breaking sticks this the way to go. Don't be so ignorant.

  • Seems like alot of wasted energy to play a down stroke.

  • funny i used to pitch and this reminds me of that

  • Dom Famularo is explaining everything about drums and drumming on a lot of Mapex DVD's. I like that he talks about his collegues too! He's a good representor for Mapex, he is totally my matey!

  • yeah for steve smith!

  • this dude saw me play drum set at the mid-island band festival on long island, that was weeks ago and i still cant believe it

  • please, i did not understand one thing about the video: what is the difference between formal/informal?? great famularo. :)

  • Formal is wrist movement and informal is the moeller technique :)

  • wah, ok, me double ignorant: what is the difference? because, moeller NEED wrist movement!!! :P

  • Yes. True. Haha. But the moeller involves arm and forearm as well. Formal strokes are all wrist.

  • ahahah thank you dud! ;) informal 4ever!

  • great...

  • fantastic

  • as ever, he is great and funny!

  • I saw Dom "open" for Billy Cobham during their series of clinics in the early/mid 80's an number of time. I ALWAYS got more out of watching Dom's clinic instead of Billy's (not to take away from Billy - he is A GREAT GREAT INFLUENTIAL drummer).

Not only was (still is) a great communicator bur VERY approachable and nice.

    Thanks for posting.

  • I was at a clinic at Rahway HS in NJ (I think) the early/mid 80's w/Dom and Cobham also. Dom was great w/his double-bass playing and chops. Cobham seemed to be less informative than Dom. Cobham seemed pretty cocky and spoke more about his Tama triple bass drum setup than anything else.

  • Thanks for these postings. I am saving them as my favorites. Very informative. I never knew about all this when I was younger.

  • I like the instruction, thank you for posting dom's lessons.

  • you're welcome, i hope you can use all the suggestions he give in this vid to make you playing better

  • Teaching Ownage!
