i was thinking that maybe employing the alberti method on the left hand might make a bridge to the baroque playing of George Martin ( damn he is good) if i get the nerve and some practice i will have to make a video
Hey man Congratulations this is a great job, let me tell you this, I don´t play piano but I have been seeing your tutorials and you explained very well, Thanks a lot for they, and show us how can we play, these songs, This is one of my favorite song of this band, and I beg you if you could teach us the left hand straight...(like the original) I know that you can do it for us... and how can combine both hands in the solo part... Thanks for your time..
@uvaldoaldape Glad you liked this one, thanks. Teaching the extra left hand part of thsolo, the original, is a little more difficult to do on a video, but I might post something at some point. I just need to make it both quick and easy to follow.
hey my spanish teacher absolutely LOVES this song and i showed him a video i took of me doing the right hand, but thats it! can u PLEASE post a video of the legit left hand part? i know you can play it, u played the whole thing in part 1.
Hi John. I'm from Mexico and your tutorial has been great for me. I play the piano with 2 violinists and I hadn't found this piece with the piano solo. Thank's a lot. Greetings from Cuernavaca.
I haven't found sheet music for this one yet, but I do use sheets as reference at times. Most of it is inaccurate, though, so I don't rely on it very often.
ahhhh.. you should have also done a tutorial for the other bass line. i would have liked to learn it that way, as it is the original piece. good job tho.
Hello John, yes, me too ... Having had a kind of classical background on the piano, I may be able to do so, without being presomptuous. Now, to get back to the rythm after the solo, this is another thing! But I would like to try as well. Many thanks again for this wonderful piece! Take care
great vid, though when I play it on the piano I find that I like to play the c# bass after you do the d to "F natural" because thats the bass in the original solo. Do you think that works as well?
The way I hear it, the original solo goes D - A and then moves to a C#--> A although the guitars in the background I think move to A like you do. I prefer the C# octave to the A chord (or whatever chord that is, I don't know chord names)
Okay, I got it. I don't specifically hear a C# there, but it couldn't hurt to play it. It would break up the three A chords in a row, which is a nice variation.
Thanks for uploading! You're videos are great! Could you perhaps upload the entire song of this please? And what about Paul McCartney's "Pipes of Piece" - I REALLY want to learn that one please.
Thanks for uploading this song John, the main part isn't hard at all but the solo I would give an 8/10 for difficulty. Great tutorial. This song defines Rubber Soul, and might even define the Beatles career!
Excellent tutorial. And if I may make a request, I would really like to learn "Tomorrow is Today" by Billy Joel. Great song. Look it up if you haven't heard it before
hardest thing i've ever played. surprisingly easy to remember just verryyyy tricky. thanks a lot!

@WalrusMuffins10797 It is tricky but once you get it, you'll remember it forever. :-)

man youre probbly the best piano teacher on the web, thanks a lot, just one thing, it is played with an electric piano right?
ikomplex 2 years ago 4
Thanks! It was actually played on a regular piano, but was sped up on the recording, which gave it a kind of electric-piano sound to it.
pianojohn113 1 year ago
it sounds like a Bach piece. I really like how you show us a demo then break the song down to parts. Good Luck

You're right, it does have a kind of classical touch to it, which shows George Martin's training.

I may still post one on the original piece.. It's a lot more difficult to teach on a video without any chords to show, though.
