  • 4:00 .... bow chika bow bow.

  • @RockeFERRET I believe I'm qualified to explain the appeal of this movie. The reason is, is because it's the Neverending Story. There you go.

  • When I was a little boy I have two dream girl. The princess on this movie and drew barrymore on the movie E.T

  • And nowadays CGI has ruined our imagination.

  • 続編が作られましたが最初のが一番好きです。役者もかわいかったし あの当時 よくここまで

    作っていたなあと今は思います。 図書館で原作の本を借りて読んだのを想いだしました。

  • @0722puffy herro

  • can someone please explain the appeal to this movie

  • Thank you so much for uploading!

  • Everyone quit whining about abstract meanings in this movie. Enjoy it!

  • Of all the names...like Sara, Jessica, or Amber...this guy picks "Moonchild"

  • @BreSheree

you can imagine the Child like Empress the Empress of all fantasia witht he name Jessica?!

    LOL!

  • Atreyu is basically link

  • his mothers name was moonchild?

  • @elenore88 His mother's name was Selene, after the moon goddess. Hence, Moonchild.

  • @Thoralmir THANK YOU!!! That was the absolute FIRST time I ever knew what the heck the kid says!

  • Why are these entirely intelligent writers and movie makers so prone to making gargatuan mistakes and not just in childrens films. laws of physics is a big one, watch just about anything on a large scale and they'll disregard the speed of sound

  • hey not fair there were many many other adventures before the end it's too short :(. oh well

  • I am disappoint with the movie, it was a great movie, but it was only 1/2 the book with parts 2 & 3 having no story in common the book. They left characters out they left story out, I know it was the 80s and all but they could have at least tried harder to stick with the story.

  • moonchild is not a name

    its a title

  • Bastian, your dad is gonna be PISSED when you get home. He will probably make you finish that wierd raw egg and orage juice mix from yesterday morning

  • I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Moonchild? Did Bastions parents meet at Woodstock?

Is where the movie should have ended and it bugs the freak out of me that all the lame stuff came afterwords... as far as the movie goes not the book. Good cliff hanger, sets it up for a sequel... Im pulling my hair out. sorry lol

    It is what it is.

  • Love the music......It never ends.....

  • They should come out with a new movie! Bet it would look alot better..

  • Haha. Great movie. Thanks for the upload! Been so long since I've saw this.

  • Man, that part where the Childlike Empress pleads is very intense O.o

  • whos on crack....

  • the name he called out was "MOON CHILD"

    YOUR WELCOME : D

  • " iTS ONLY A STORY ... ITS NOT REAL ... ITS ONLY A STORY "

  • Comment removed

  • Never knew it was Moon Child until I looked it up today.

  • Pure Nostalgia!!

  • Oh my god people were so right when they called this a great movie. I love it.

  • Um... random narrator at the end?

  • @BehindTheSpiderEyes Thats what im saying!

  • dose anyone know what name he calls out at the end i can never make it out!

  • @xxbobyxxx Moon Child

  • @stooge35 Realy? thats abit of a strange name for his mum to have lol

  • I think you mean open ur mind

  • 6:30 the 2 dudes from superbad as kids XD

  • I always LOVED the empress she's so pretty, I wanted to be her. x3

  • haha, I'd be totally creeped out but think how cool it is that I'm reading a book where people are talking about me! (^_^) 0.o

  • haha i love the ending

  • 6:43 it should have ended there... then came a set of pitiful sequals :<

  • When Family Guy references this movie, you know it's a classic!!!

  • Back in the 80s the girls had a crush on Atreyu and the boys on the Childlike Empress.

  • the book is different. but this movie is good.

  • Ok, how in tha hell Is this boy gone all day and theres no amber alert or nuthin???

  • @mobbus265 in the book, there is. it tells that the dad had called the police, and everything.

  • @mobbus265 In the book (which every living person should read sometime) Bastian is sucked into Fantasia and by the time he returns, he has been gone for about one and a half day. His father has called the police and been looking for him all over.

  • MoooooonnnnnnnnChild!!!

  • In the time it took to say "But I can't, I have to keep my feet on the ground," "All right, I'll do it, I'll save you, I will do what I dreamed!" get up...run to the window...heave two breaths in the lightning and say "MOONCHILD!" Bastien's punk a$% could've easily saved Fantasia. But oh no! He had to wait until there was only one grain of Fantasia sand left. What we probably didn't see in the outtakes was the Empress headbutting Bastien in the teeth and throwing the grain of sand in his face.

  • Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to announce that the name he called out was moonchild. Now, could we please all like this comment so it stays at the top of the page?

  • what was the name he called out?

  • @EQgamer4life Moonchild

  • Is that the "grain of sand" alluded to in T.S. Eliot's The Wasteland, do you think? There have been other allusions to that poem in this movie.

  • How did the Nothing disappear?

  • @Farfeb it didn't, there are still a lot of people that have lost their hopes and dreams

  • Best way to cheer up on a sick day.

  • I love this movie so much. I wish the youth of today wasn't so busy with being part of the "Jersey Shore" shit thats going on. We need stuff from when I was a kid back.

  • what's his mums name then?

  • He dragon-jacked Atreyu. Awesome.

  • seriously, is his father even wondering where he is? lol. LOVE this movie ever since I was kid, even though parts of me wonder whether it was appropriate for me to have even witnessed.

NO HORSIES WHERE MURDERED DURING THE MAKING OF THIS FILM

  • @Drewcifer6789 I beg to differ, if you go on the trivia on imdb it will say the horse did in fact drown and it left the kid who played atreyu sad.

  • @jasonhylnd001

no, according to Noah Hathaway himself, the elevator only went as far as the horse's lower lip and beforehand had to train the horse to calm down because in the first few takes, the horse went crazy when it went past the knees in the water.

Noah did however get his foot stuck in the underwater elevator when it happened.

  • The nostalgic magic returning you to a time where boundaries were not realised, purported by the wondrous vilification that is being transported to a time where the function of life was to exist to learn grow and develop, rid one's self of pitiful hubris and the nonchalance where heroism, the selfless desire to be good is marred by the limited mind and where vanity overrides sanity. Controlled by emotion ruled vanity, what a world in which we grow to understand.

  • @setoogali Did you ever think this movie means much more than it seems? I call these times "The Nothing." Yesterday I woke up, and set up a you tube account looking for the Empress' name. The you tube critics say it is "Moon Child." Off and on for 20 years I have wondered what name he called her. Moon Child? That can't be right, it sounds like a doper name. I figured it was his mother's name. You can't really tell what he said. What is wrong with emotion? The characters...

  • @Idttc Of course it means more than it seems! Look around you, look out into the universe we live in, we DO live in the Neverending Story. More worlds out there than grains of sand on the Earth. As for these times being the Nothing, they may seem that way but there are many good people out there and wonderful things in store for our world when folks let go of the fear based fairytales we have fashioned and rather embrace the REAL story out there we look up at every night.

  • @Eyes8577 Pardon me, but I looked at some of your other comments on other issues. Surely, you don't think that the opposite of Christianity is Science? Study history...It is the same group. One backs the other. The bottom line is that I neither came from two Neanderthals nor two Africans. A thousand generations of blue birds will never produce a red bird. Therefore I neither evolved nor came from Adam and Eve. I have let go of all fairy tales including those told by Science...

  • @Eyes8577 You have no evidence other then Scientific gossip that what you look at during the night is other worlds. Science is both a religious and political movement based on totalitarian government. It's favorite tactic now and in the past has been fighting wars. If there is one world and no wars then the new issue to rally the peasants around will be a war in space that more than likely does not exist. I live in a place where U.F.O. sightings are numerous. I have seen them.....

  • @Eyes8577 myself and up close. All I concluded was that they moved on as if they only wished to sight see but not as if they wished any further contact. I honestly believe that they are probably government diversion. Why would creatures superior to ourselves wish to contact with any of us? That is like saying that I wish to commune with dogs and I don't! Yes, this planet and it's inhabitants are nothing. What little insight they use to have is gone. They are rude, vulgar.....

  • @Eyes8577 verbally abusive, untrustworthy, unintelligent, and they follow after every false leader and every unsubstantiated belief system. They were given a brain and they CHOOSE to use only 10% of it. They also seem to learn little if any from verbal or written communication. It seems suffering is the only way they permanently learn a moral. When you go to college may I suggest reading Nietzsche. He inspired a socialist, scientific movement called Nihilism. It is where we.......

  • @Eyes8577 get the term Annihilation. Nihilism is the belief system of Socialists, Communists, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, etc., etc., etc. They believe in killing or annihilating everyone that does not agree with their suppression of free thought. They designed movies such as this one in hopes of leading American children down the pathway of destruction. They know that to conquer a people you must dumb down her youth. While their children master chemistry, physics,.......... .

  • @Eyes8577 engineering, metallurgy, and foreign languages. American children become proficient at X-Box, Game Boy, You Tube, Lady Gaga, The Neverending Story and other such nonsense. Good People? G=to increase in Gravity...Odd=Peculiar. Yes, there are indeed a vast number of GOOD people...but you will never find them on youtube! This is a German film yet I don't see many German socialist's children commenting. Perhaps they are too busy studying things of real importance.

  • @setoogali are rather emotional. E=Energy+Motion. Emotion is what inspires us to take action. Words are "Nothing" Actions are everything.

  • @setoogali Why should any one care about Avignon?

  • God I love this movie. I kind of feel cheated that I was only 1 years old when it came out on big screen.

  • @Nightshift10000 lol I hadn't even been born when this came out, yet it was still my favorite movie as a child, and remains so today

  • What did he say?

  • I thought that girl was so hot when I was a kid.

  • I hadn't seen this movie, thank you so much for uploading it, it's wonderful! I've ordered the book from the library.

  • Falkor laughs like an evil maniac! i love it!!

  • The horsey liiiiives! :D

  • His mother'sname was...Moonchild? I get the feeling his mom was native american.

  • @xxxTayaRoisxxx

    Or a hippie. :P

  • @suddensong lol

  • That sensation you're feeling....is Pure Innocence

  • applaud!

    :)

heart this movie and it's music and messege :)

  • Must...have...DVD.....

  • He could wish his mother back to life?

  • @FieldmasterFox If his mother came back to life, if wouldn't make sense to Bastian's dad.

  • And Bastian turn to evil :)

  • rotflmao.... its moonchild for people who couldnt decipher what he said

  • this is way too intense lmao

  • In literature sense Fantasia is the element of imagination and the Nothing are the closed minded people who ignore the imagination making it disappear. Bastin was the mind of children and open minded people who have an imagination to this day. There you go. Hoped that helped all.

  • Geek fact. The bully has a t-shirt on that has Zippy the Pinhead on it...and when he rises up from the dumpster, the graffiti on the wall says "pinhead" coincidence?? you be the judge

  • Am I the only one a little freaked out when the Empress says "Call my name. Bastian. Please. Save us!"

  • GIVE ME A NAME ALREADY CAPTAIN DUMBASS!!!

    ok

    BLARARGFIRAAAAAAAAAA

  • My first wish is ..... YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • His mother's name was Moonchild? WTH?

  • @InARealPickle From the simple counting, it seems that his mother was born in the hippie generation. As hippie names go, Moonchild is a really standard one :)

  • @InARealPickle Apperantly it is the name he gives the character/representation of his mother in the stories he makes up or rather "according to his dreams".

  • What if the kid wished for a strip club filled with unicorns, clowns, ice cream and vpedophiles XD. LMFAO

I wonder if that kid will ever hit puberty lol

And wouldn't the military noticed and try to shoot the pedophile dragon with a unicorn obsessed kid that should be interested in smoking instead?

  • he should close the window he is letting all the heat out as well as getting my taxidermies wet

  • Bastian made many pointless wishes including a wish for a can of bug spray. He seirously could not make a good wish. but that is nother story.

  • I have the book and I love both the book and the movie. They're a little different from each other. but they're both awesome in their own right.

  • We can't hear him say the name because probably the makers of the movie didn't want us to know...to add the element of mystery...

  • I haven't watched this whole movie since 1995 or so. I was ten years old, its been way too long!

  • I wonder what she is gonna do when she meets a smart-ass that names her "cum dumpster" or some such name.

  • why not just, idk, close the damn book and say fuck it lol

  • For those of you who doesn't know what Bastian says, the name he gives the empress is "Moonchild".

  • my favorite movie thanks for posting this!

  • I love how his first wish Is for a dragon joyride, his second wish is to get revenge on the bullies, but he never considers seeing his mom again? Wow...

  • @canadababez cos he cant go back in time.

  • Comment removed

  • Falcor: What do you want to wish for next?

Sebastion: *thinks* I wish to scare the living s*** out of some kids!!!!!!!

Falcor: OKAY!!!!! *goes to attack bullies*

    That's how it went! :P

  • The ending was probably there to remind us that he's still only a child.

  • ...anyone else mildly creeped out by that dragon's evil laugh at the end...?

  • Only a boy with survere mental issues and an incredibly absent/probably drrunk father can save Fantasia!

  • And now he rides on a flying tampon that eats people! lol

  • This morning I watched The Nostaglia Critics review of The Neverending Story III, in the movie The Rockbiter gets on his bike and sings Steppenwolfs "Born to be Wild" I cried on the inside and had to watch this movie to regain some faith in humanity,

  • @bushbasher85 same here. I had forgotten just how amazing this movie is, since I haven't seen it in about 7 years, and it has restored some of the optimism and inspiration I had at 12 years old. I never saw the third one, and after that review, I'm not going to.

  • but in my book, he goes to Fantasia and becomes friends with Atreyu and stuff, did I read a strange book, or did they just didn't put that into the movie?

  • WOW what a great film. Haven't seen it in ages

  • miss the simple pleasures of being a child.... this is my all time favorite movie and now that I saw it again, I'm reminded why - - we need to dream to hope coz someone who doesnt have hope is easy to control

  • @foslight1 if you had seen predator 3 you would understand the fallacy of the statement

    ahahahahahahahahahahanotfunnyatall

  • but where did the nothing come from and who ordered the wolf to kill that boy?

  • @technopath100 I guess too much of Rational Thinking is the force behind "Nothing"! It comes through Grown Ups. EX: Bastian's Dad.

  • @maheshwmp ok i can buy that but who told the wolf to kill Bastian because he said he was ordered to do so?

  • @technopath100 Well, it must be a top secret! As any other secret which adults won't let children into. ;)

  • @technopath100 its the libarey guy, because he thinks no one cares for the good books anymore and he was getting rid of it duh old guy at the libarey ....you retard.... sorry i did not mean that but i think your suppose to say that after everything you say on the internet LOL!!!!

  • And his first wish is not to bring back his dead mom that brings him so much heartbreak, but to instill deathly fear into 3 kids, why stop at the dumpster? falcor could rip them apart for you to, Bastien!

  • I know a good name for the Empress, how about "The Slenderman"?

No? well then how about BELLA!!!! *Is pelted with Rocks and Tomatoes by the stereotypical anti Twilight tards who have never actually read the books.*

  • The question is, why should anyone return to the ordinary world, once he's lifted the veil?

  • Kind of makes you wish that this really was a "neverending" story

  • they don't make movies like this anymore. I miss movies.

  • excellent movie!...the only bad part about it is that it has to end...thanks for posting this classic.

  • whats the name?? lol i never have been able to work it out!!!!

  • @FOZMONSTER946 the book is writtten in german, and the Name in german is MONDENKIND, in english it is something like MOONchild.

  • @FOZMONSTER946 Moon Child

  • @crafty1982 It's only been around for 27 years LOL

  • I just noticed something...is it me or does the verse between 8:51 - 9:06 sound like it was edited in? I mean, everything else had a bit of a reverb but that one did not seem to have one...

  • that ending was so fucking badass

  • Our story sucks compared to this one
