Beautiful Paul. Thank you. I have lived in Australia for 40+ years (Welsh born) This is fantastic - what a talent, lucky you. My Dad will love this. XXXX
Kick it off, throw it in Have a little scrimmage Keep it low, a spendid rush Bravo, Win or die ! On the ball, City Never mind the danger Steady on... ...Nows your chance Hurrah ! We COME ON CITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CITY TILL I DIE!
We won, but 1-0 - Paul Parry in the 3rd minute. (Perhaps he was inspired to go and break the Saxons' courage, etc.) We were 5th in the table at the time, but things fizzled out a bit after that - in fact, this was the last game we won that season. Hoping that things will be a bit different this year....
hey, I'm an American, and I'm still moved by this. I think it's a song that can (if you want it to) cross any national lines and give a message to stand up for what you believe in.
There are several different versions of the words, in English and in Welsh, but the original and the most traditional words are in English, and were inspired by the siege of Harlech Castle from 1461 to 1468, during the War of the Roses - by Welsh supporters of the House of Lancaster. Adds an extra historical element to Sunday's semi-final I suppose.
I started with the Zulu version - which is the one that Ali usually plays over the tannoy - and then did one of the verses from the traditional words (which are by John Oxenford apparently), mainly because I like the bit about "the Saxon's courage breaking".
I miss Ninian Park

thought the welsh were supposed to be good singers.
this is a great song, shame noone sings it, instead they clap or hum it each match. would sound great if they all sung it together.
its a good song, wasted on the welsh, shame really. only part of my welsh heritage i like always thought you sing it well.

A little prayer for you Welsh on here.
May the land of Dragons, and of Arthur, Never loose it's history or it's pride
May the men of Cardiff, and of Swansea
As honoured foes allways abide.
Peace, Love, and Football to all.

The irony of singing this song in English is quite staggering. And glorifying further English led imperialism in South Africa compounds the insult.
