The democrates DO NOT LIKE THE FAIRTAX! One of the arguments of the democrates to opposed the fairtax is it will be a great disavantage to the poor. That is the reason of the question. Their are alot more republicans that support the fairtax than the democrates, but their are republicans that oppose it as well. The reasons why they don't support it:
it will take away power from the gov and give it back to the people, it will eliminate alot of the 34,000 lobbyist in washington from bothsides
There is no "fair tax" since taxes are still illegal under the constitution.
