Jayne Mansfield, I think, was a victim of the 50's and the studio system. She is under rated as a actor, and died much too early. Her daughter Miriska Hargitay shows just how much acting talenet her mother had and passed on to her talented daughter.

Her and Marilyn were absolutely gorgeous girls. Both shared a lot of the same characteristics. Both were involved with Church of Satan founder Anton LaVey. Mansfield was also a high priestess in the church. I wish the media would recognize this because they deserve credit for her success.

She WAS interested in the occult, but remained a devout Catholic her entire life. Marilyn never met LaVey nor did she have anything to do with the Church of Satan. LaVey has claimed to have had affairs with both though anyone close to either will dismiss this and most associates of LaVey confirmed his reputation as a fraud and fabricator.

You criticized Jayne on the basis that she was an imitator, that has nothing to do with preference. What is the similarity between the two anyway? I like them both and they are as different as night and day to me. Marilyn copied Lana Turner and Betty Grable far more than Jayne copied Marilyn. Jayne had none of the Marilyn mannerisms and played very difference characters. Jayne didn't have the kittenish, vulnerable persona, and she never attempted it. She was brazen and over-the-top just like her public image. Sex symbols back then didn't have a lot of variety. Shapely blondes like Diana Dors, Mamie Van Doren, Kim Novak, Caroll Baker, that is how they all looked and acted. That's what was 'in' at the time.

No, Jean was who Marilyn idolized more, Lana and Betty were who she imitated. I have seen Lana's films and the similarity is more than obvious. For Marilyn's publicity shoot for 'Asphalt Jungle' she was also styled as Lana and even wore her dress. Marilyn also said "I strove to look like Betty Grable". Marilyn was a minor starlet at the time and she was taking tips from her predecessors as a means of teaching herself.

Haspiel did claim to have lived with JM at some point though the dates didn't match up so I question his validity. They may have met but they were never friends.
