  • Masterpiece play by a master.

  • I LOVE THIS PIECE VARIATIONS THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS VIDEAS!

  • posted in 2005? its a shame this has so few views.

  • Era mi bisabuelo , he was my great grandfather.

  • Mis respetos, este viejo arrogante se tragaba la guitarra con las manos.

  • thank you. the king in his prime; not as an old man.

  • @owenswift - Why so much concern about age? He is an artist and his musicianship is still with him, and he plays wonderfully well, much better than youngsters, so forget about the clock and enjoy a true musician's artistry!!

  • Great Master

  • hells to the yea man, that was frikkin sweet.

  • 50 years before his death and he still looks like an old man....is there any footage of him as a young man, or had cameras even been invented yet?? XD

  • Segovia born old and with a guitar in the hands.

  • No footage, photos yes.

  • amazing interpretation & technique !

  • Such Feeling! It makes a lot of the other interpretations of this piece I've heard sound stale and cold by comparison.

Forse nessuno.

  • The best guitar player of all times. He makes me knees weak. This is just so beautiful.

  • este cancion es lindo, me gusta

  • Un virtuoso, un hermoso tema, un grande!

  • The right hand of GOD

  • The brilliant Segovia!

    Wonderful Virtuoso of the guitar!

I was 'raised' on his music; my father a producer, was wrapt in his music and had all his albums!

  • One of my favorite things about Segovia's playing is that he's no slave to the metronome. Fabulous timing.

  • My least favourite thing about Segovia is that he uses entirely too much rubato.

  • What's rubato? I think my mom used to put that in her spaghetti sauce.

  • Funy you should mention it but, the rubato was what I liked the most about this piece. It was played before the current trend towards informed period performances and by a man who was raised in the romantic tradition. Every measure, every nuance of this rendition screams romantic to me. The rubato was exquisite. I don't think Sor would've objected since he lived well into the Romantic Era.

  • lets just say bwv1 dont knows a shit... lol ..he sad that segovia was not a serius musician.. LoL... he is a number one in classical music

  • If he can't understand Andres Segovia's approach well enough to appreciate it, then that says more about him than it does about Segovia.

  • He's playing an interpretation of Fernando Sor's variations on a Mozart theme. It was written for the guitar, and intended to be played this way.

  • Good job proving "traditional" musicians close-minded, rhetorical jag-offs, bmv1.

  • man you just suck just listen and learn with this fabulous musician he was

  • well if he's playing it the way it was written then your also bringing into question the composer...J.S.Bach(as i understand it). are you havin a laugh ? composed many master pieces yoursef?

  • Who cares about how other musicians play it or the composer's supposed intentions? "There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, Than are dreamt of in your philosophy."

  • Does anyone know where i can get a tablature yesrsion of this please

  • if segovia ever heard you say that, he'd knock the crap out of you

  • i know

  • prolly at GSP. Guitar Solo Publications.....

  • It's just SO effortless for him, genuinely awesome.

  • I heard and saw him live in Stockholm in the late 60's. He's the best! Every single tune has a meaning and all of them are treated as individuals by the master.

  • Absolutely fantastic! Thanks for the post, bro'.

  • I was lucky enough to see this genius live... simply the best ever.

  • where and when did you see him? I would have given both of my bollocks to see him play

  • he is fantastic but i think agustin barrios was better than him!

  • Segovia was best clasical gitar player ever

thank you for postin this videos.

  • He could certainly play, just listen to all the textures in this tune, he was amazing, thank you Segovia.

  • I still remember the day that they announced that El Maestro passed on...I was in the shower and had the classical station on when they annonced his death. I turned the water off and listened intenetly. They were playing Dowlan's Frog Galliard in the background...

    Rest well Beloved Master...

  • I prefer played this way than like a computer, all in beats, metronomicly, without espression.

  • look at the modern guitarist...o God nooo

  • Awesome!

  • Segovia is not able to read music!i cant belive!

  • Amazing

  • Grande Segovia,il piu' grande!

  • Thats depressing (in a sense that as a guitarist it would be easier to eat with my asshole and shit out of my mouth than to ever play like Segovia) yet inspiring all at once. I am honored to be able to divulge in such virtuosity. Truly makes other masters look like ass masters.Bravo!

  • Bravo! Magnífico!

  • fucking badass

  • truly beautiful

  • His speed is superb I think because he was playing with flamenco players in alhambra. :P

  • ha, what power and grace. the unchallenged king in his prime.

  • I love every note of his playing. So expressive.

  • I got goosebumps at 2:06

  • 0:44

    xD

  • it is hard to believe that its from 1930. really?

  • 50´s

  • I don't think so. He was 37 years old in 1930 and he looks a good bit older than that in the film. I'd guess closer to 1940's.

  • Segovia, the best!

  • very nice

  • *SMILE* It's so nice to see Segovia play again. My step-dad studied with him and Juan Mercadal. He plays the guitar effortlessly as though they angels are guiding his hands. Thanks for uploading this!

  • Beautiful.

  • that's fuckin awesome.

  • i think it's from late 50's..mid 60

  • WHAT THE HECK HOW OLD IS THIS GUY? He looks 50 in that video at the least!

  • he lived 'till almost 100 ... his music will live forever as he is maestro to all who play classical guitar

  • Each time he'd tour the US friends would say "see him now because this will be your last chance". I finally did when Segovia was probably in his late 80s (?). Yet he did come back to Santa Barbara, I think, at least once again before he died. PS: 2007 was the 20th anniversary of his death.

  • Buenísimo. Nunca me dejará de sorprender Andrés Segovia!

  • Variation on a Theme by MOZART

  • i liked this. do you know the title of this piece?

  • This is Fernando Sor's "Variations on a Theme by Mozart"

  • Subtle variations of beauty.

  • Looks like the same movie as the Torroba performance (listed there as "from the 1956 'Paris' film").

Public TV in the US ran a series of his master classes in the early 1960's (I think). So wonderful to hear his playing and his illuminating comments and instructions to his pupils! It would be great to have them on video, too.

  • He's second to none.

  • cool,..

  • beautiful!

  • wow segovia is frreakin sexyy!!!!!! .................hes plays well at guitar too.......

  • AY CARAMBA! Segovia really is the man. I have to repeat: thx to the guy who sent this

oh and: yeah i'm going to see Aniello "Il Fenomeno" Desiderio on the 20th of may!!! YES!!!

  • FLAWLESS!

  • Segovia= the definition of disipline. absolutely beautiful!

  • Segovia in his prime

  • To whoever posted this, thank you!

  • Absolutely awesome, wow, any guitarist should see this guy play, DISCIPLINE, amazing, brilliant.

  • The man who single handedly made the world recognize the guitar as a serious instrument. =P

  • beautiful.

  • whoa.. behold! the grandmaster..!

  • this is great! finally some segovia on youtube!

  • kick ass

  • Andres Segovia, an amazing man!
