The film was far from the worst film ever or even the worst video game movie, in both categories there are legions of worse ones to choose from. But it lacked any of the games subtlety, was far too heavy handed with the monsters, which were misused, and also the changing of the parents gender was pointless.

The biggest thing though was the witch burning; you have one of the most tragic and horrific stories under your nose, so let's just ignore it for a poor man's Salem's lot story.
