why not using a RS-NOR-latch instead? then the top button would always turn the pulley off, while the bottom button turns it on.

There's a much simpler way to make this using an RS NOR gate. It uses 2 buttons at each end - one "call elevator" at each end and a "Go up/down" at either end.

@spynikk I'm having so much trouble with the saw. I put the saw down and connected one axle on the back, and then another on the back of that axle. I put a gear box on the back, used some red stone to lead to a switch, and put it on, but the saw doesn't do anything...

@MrBliebz you might have a problem i had where their is a redstone torch powering to much but you would need to upload a video for me to help you properly

That setup for the switches is actually a XOR logic gate.
