this is true if your a useless programmer otherwise the money is a like an all you can eat buffet the amount you can get depends on your hunger for money
Lol that's so me. The whole day revolved around me building something up. Got stuck several times at different points. Took a break, did something else, although all this distraction didn't let my mind get a break from the problem. I was frustrated to no end and was considering if I want to be a programmer, but damn the feeling of getting a problem solved is worth it.
It is all a matter of perspective. Outsiders, who are non-engineers, cannot understand the excitement that comes from working on a single problem for a long time, and finally solving it. To them, it looks like frustration, and anger. To engineers, however, it is one of the best feelings that one can experience, because of the mindset that makes an engineer and engineer.
@tundra010 it is frustrating and does make you rage xD, but i totally agree when you finally hit that stroke of genius and it works to perfection the feeling of "man beat machine" is amazing xD
6 years later I've got HTML, CSS, Javascript and C++ to go at, I realise I need to look more into a physical realm, buy an arduino.
10 years from now I'll be driving a motorbike out of a building second story window with a nice blonde on the back as a nuke inside the building detonates.
Fuck this shit. I'm so glad I switched career paths to EET. I used to know C++, VB6, Java, and assembly back in my youthful days. Then one day I realized that if I wanted to program, it'd be with electronics and microcontrollers - actually seeing a physical form of "code" working. I can't sit behind a cubicle all day. I admire other programmers who can though.
This guy should have asked one of the architects. If I saw one of my guys doing wheelies on his chair because he didn't know wtf to do, there would be words. Oh yes, there would be words.
I would totally agree and don't even have my degree yet; it seems like in the end, one way or another the small problems are overcome and it all comes together.
This is the best job in the world... Good programmers don't have any problems with tasks that other people give them, they only have problems with projects of their own... And what about that awesome moment where you figure out that something is working?!
Confusion? And that's the bad thing? That's the thing I like in programming, I like it so much when I have to solve something really hard and after a good time getting the result. Ohhhhh, the result is the moment of satisfaction after a hard task...
i agree with u, once you finish or solved a problem it's really satisfying. but usually after you fix one problem, another one pops up and irritates the shit out of u!!

It's people like YOU who troll for attention that get me so angry I can't think properly or I just don't feel the need to respond intelligently to someone like you. So before you call someone an idiot look in the mirror.

@Janjubie No, it is people like I who troll, and not for attention but for spreading frustration and empty anger within t3h internetz! And are you saying that by looking in the mirror one always sees an idiot? Or is it special kind of mirror that one has to look in in order to see an idiot? Or do idiots live in mirrors? See what I mean? HE is no troll.
true word.... i m also german and half tunesian... and my skin is like this guys one ... and before anyone says the same to me, like to tingzab.... ( i m 15 ) and i m 3d designing since 2 years. and also mapping since 3 years (Source engine <--) :D
Camoy0, you are such a jackass... I knew he was Indian, but you thought he was Mexican... Plus, as a culture, it may look like Hispanic people, or black people aren't as capable, but they are just as capable as anyone else. Look at what Janjubie said. Douchebag...
camoy0, race has nothing to do with it you idiot. In fact I personally know a Latino that that could program circles around most people who claim to program.
LOL. I used to get like this when I started programming about 6 years ago. Now is pretty much sencond nature and you can find a code sample for pretty much anything in google. I usually code about 1 hour a day now and play the rest of the day. Unreal Tournament was my favorite for a while. Now I just go hang out at the Mall LOL. I used to have the same setup as you but I changed the laptop for a stinkpad. Anyways kewl vid!
I'm thinking about having Computer Science in Engineering as a Major. How would I know if I like programming, say if I like video games? Would I have to like programming in general and it's pertinece to computer games to like the job?
Try to learn programming and program something. You don't need to like games to like programming. But computer science requires a lot of programming so if you find out you don't necessarily 'enjoy' programming, you should at least accept it.
is this "a life in a day of a douche?" i thought a programmer would look smarter...

1. A passed out programmer.
2. Half (or completly) empty 2L bottle of "Mountain Dew".
3. A glitchy looking program running at 20FPS on the screen.
4. The programmers head on the keyboard and the letter "j" being printed multiple times into his IDE.
5. You ask him how late he stayed up it will be some time after 1 AM.

Man I found your problem. You are Mexican, let whites or Asians do the programming.
You should be at the outside cutting the grass.
Latinos and blacks are not capacitated to do this type of activities

Camoy0, you are such a jackass... I knew he was Indian, but you thought he was Mexican... Plus, as a culture, it may look like Hispanic people, or black people aren't as capable, but they are just as capable as anyone else. Look at what Janjubie said. Douchebag...
