this thing has one of the greatest CLAPs I've ever heard!
Planning on modifying it? It's a huge pain in terms of size (use a breakbout box and even then use thin wires to the connectors/mod points) - even the standard thickness wires once I had about 22 of them in the main box were extremely difficult to fit!
But the sounds possible are so great! Once thing I recommend you be careful of though is the hihats - mine were ruined by modification.
@cartesiaLive I agree about the clap, even my 909 clap can't match it (although I don't think I have my 909 clap perfectly calibrated).
I keep thinking about modifying it because everything other than the kick would get a lot of use in my set up but like you say they didn't give you much room to play with. Can I ask what modifications you did to your 110, was it sync/trigger, individual outs or voice mods?
@francaisemusique The DR-110 has some very nice sounds on board, it's just a shame it has no interface options. I use Alesis M1 Mk II monitors, they seemed to be some of the best monitors available in my price range and they are active so I don't have to use an amplifier. The sound here however is recorded directly into the computer so what you hear is straight out of the DR-110 and not from the monitors.
@TiMickQC The audio output is 1/4" jack, monophonic and at line level, there is also a 1/8" headphone output.
It has a power input socket that requires 9V DC supplied via a negative tip power jack, basically it will run off of any Boss pedal compatible AC adapter.
I love my 110. I bought it from a friend in 1990 for ten dollars. Since I've sampled it into my (also beloved) Emu SP 1200 for the analog filters and it's uncanny ability to crunch the hell out of already bad ass sounds. And it's MIDI. Thanks for the demo, really cool little silver box. The clap is worth the whole of the machine.

I had a DR-220E before my actual DR-110. The DR-110 is a mini-TR-808 with incredible sound and its own personality, friendly and cheap, genuine sound... well, what can I say ? I love it.
The KPR 77 is a cool machine and I'd grab one myself if I could find one cheap but the 606 is very similar to the DR-110 and also very overpriced, The Soundmaster ST-305 might be worth looking at If you want similar sounds to the TR-606 at a fraction of the price.
Having said if you have your heart set on a 606 go for it because the sync and volume control and the seqeuncer are the bomb on that little silver puppy. Make sure to post your demo as a response to this video if you get a DR-110 :).
my dr110 don't keep pattern in memory, when i switch off and after a few time,i switch on to play my own pattern, they're not here...only factory pattern !! is it normal ? snif snif
Cool ... thanks for the tip on the hi-hat!!!!!

Thanks, I try to make my demo's quick and concise with high audio quality.
As for buying one try eBay or your local pawn shops, I got mine for £20 at a Cash Convertors but on ebay now they seem to be fetching around £60.

Yes ! STIX ST 305. i see one for 150 euros on ebay ,but i buy a dr 110 cause i don't know ST305 and there is some poor video on "you tube".
Can you put video of KPR77 cause there no good video here !
So DR 110 sounds very good, snare and hihat are like 606, i love her...it's my new girl friend.
Also i found a Yamaha RX 15 for 40 euros, it's a digital /16 bit samples beatbox. But vintage, and I can play New Order beat intro of Blue Monday .
And she's so good looking.
see you

Do you have this problem with your beat box :
my dr110 don't keep pattern in memory, when i switch off and after a few time,i switch on to play my own pattern, they're not here...only factory pattern !! is it normal ? snif snif

You need to have batteries in the unit for any of the user patterns to be saved while the unit is not switched on.
Hope this helps

sounds like a tr 606.

Well both the TR-606 & DR-110 were made by Roland at around the same time and were both aimed at a similar market so they have alot in common.
