Too all the people out there arguing about flame tanks IRL, yes, there were such things as flame tanks, in WW II and Vietnam, and they were very effective. So effective that they were banned once someone thought up burning people alive was poor form. They didn't have huge flammable fuel tanks on them or look anything like that, they were just normal light tanks with flamethrowers for turrets. No, you can't buy one, either.
@kungenchrille Maybe the fuel tanks are heavily reinforced with armor that is better than the rest of the armor on the tank, making them no longer a weak point?
Still, their pretty much obsolete in real life. They were used in WWII, but their job was to clear out bunkers and entrenchments, anti-infantry work was done by machines guns, which had much greater range than a flamethrower and easily mounted a regular tank. Right we have hand grenades and artillery shells for clearing places out, so we don't really need flamethrowers.
Kane gives you a tank that has a couple huge fuel tanks that would easy targets for GDI's tanks and expects to it be useful. He needs to hire some new weapons engineers.
That goes the same for regular infantry men, but they get attacked by tanks. Also, soldiers with anti-tank guns could beat a flame tank easily because anti-tank guns have much greater range then flamerthrowers.
@dragonstormx Y---You're kidding right?! EVER SEEN ANY MOVIE?! MGM- Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studios. The LION ROARS before a movie or TV show. There are TOO many to list but surely you've seen Tom & Jerry Cartoons.
The Wizard of Oz, Gone with The Wind, and one of my favorites: WAR GAMES
Ammunition for the flame weapon was either carried inside the tank, in armoured external storage, or in some cases in a special trailer behind the tank (Churchill Crocodile).
A number of methods of production were used. Typically they were modifications (either field or factory) of existing tank chassis. Flamethrowers were either modified versions of existing infantry flame weapons (Flammpanzer I and II) or specially designed (Flammpanzer III). They were mounted externally (Flammpanzer II), replaced existing machine gun mounts, or replaced the tank's main armament (Flammpanzer III).
Flame tanks are used to supplement combined arms attacks against fortifications or other obstacles. They only reached significant use in the Second World War, during which the United States, Soviet Union, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom (including members of the British Commonwealth) all produced flamethrower-equipped tanks.
The thing is DieOfGoodLuck, perhaps it doesn't seem that way (that TD is based off of the GDI ending). I mean nominally yes, but the Nod campaign is in Africa, and the GDI one in Europe. Theoretically, the Nod campaign could be the one coming first, and then GDI, since you're only really taking over Africa in the Nod campaign, and using the Ion Cannon once.

Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking. This thing would be a mobile bomb. One shell would ignite the fuel.

Yeah, who knows what he was thinking. Maybe it's something in it's design that stops it from exploding?
bobbinsthethird 2 years ago
A tank shell would punch a hole in it an render it harmless even if it didn't explode.

Who knows, maybe they have some sort of system

Flame Tanks weren't designed to go head-on against armored vehicles lol.

Thats why you don't use flame tanks unsupported.
darthbandon10 2 years ago
Then the other tanks would do all the work, the flame tanks would just try and avoid getting shot.

Even though he'd beat me a million times and I won't win once (I suck at chess, and of course, he's a mastermind strategist. Common sense there).

Well after looking at the first backround image, it's safe to assume that Kane now owns MGM.
