  • i know it is long time since you did surgery but i asking you how long you took to start to walk again with out any sticks?

  • @mohmohsen2010 I've had surgery twice and I think it took a couple of weeks to walk without crutches but I was still in a full leg brace that was locked. Stick with it but be very patient -- something I had to learn the hard way. You will get through it. I am still playing soccer!

  • just small movements here and there. and bending ur knee a lil bit with the help of the towel and all...

  • ya man stay in ur bed. i just got my acl surgery yesterday, pain killers by my bed. everytime i get up i have to put some weight on the leg while i walk around with the crutches, about 50% weight on my right knee(damaged). alrdy given some excercises to do. which can be a bit painful.Thank God for the pain killers my doctor gave to me. did u start excercising right away after ur surgery...

  • I understand that you're surgery was actually a typical ACL surgury right? Cuz I had this surgery at the begining of december so it'll be 6 months now and I still feel you know not ready to do sports... I do rehab 3 times a week basically from 6 months now but can't imagine me playing basketball (cuz that's my sport). I'm actually kind of surprised to see all these people to play soccer only 3 month after the surgery. Was that your case too?

  • don't worry about those who come back after 3 months. Much of the time it doesn't matter about how well you rehab (of course always do your best though) but a LOT of it is your natural ability to heal and the way the type of surgery that works best with your body. If you do not feel ready, do not play. That is my advice. I made this mistake and now I have had two surgeries. The second one worked better though and I am optimistic about the future of my knee and being active for a long time.

  • I am still on the soccer team and have two seasons left in college. I am playing now after 7 months but will give my knee a full year until I let myself remove the brace and go full out playing 6 days a week.

Listen to your doc and your body but balance the two. Good luck! Stay positive. I know it is hard.

  • Thanks for a quick answer. that surely put me in a better mood. My doc is not much of a sports man I guess so when I asked him (yesterday) about sports he asked if sport is my job... If not, he said I should concider to stop playing cuz basket ball is a high risk sport and so on and so on. Yet I surely did not give up on doing sports but doctors can be discouraging too, sometimes. So as you said it's important to maintain balance between docs and your body... Thx

  • and also what do you mean that the 2nd surgery went better? Did you actually feel that your knee recovered faster?

  • Also, i want to know ... my Dr. told me that my secong leg might hv got medium level meniscous tear...i cant go thru another operation this year... do u think it can wait? amd wil i recover fully after 2nd operation?

  • hey... i went thru d operation in feb 2007 and rite nw im thru rehab... i stopeed doin basic exercises...but im doing gym exercises regularly...though my knee is not unstable i cant run...i hav started doing basic exercises again. Do u think it will affect my rehab... pls.. iwanted to play badminton again... i cant stop playin bcoz of this stupid injury....

  • Why can't you run? Did your doctor tell you that your knee is not ready? About the minor meniscus tear, if it hurts bad it should be fixed. It should also be fixed if you are at risk of hurting it more if you play on it. You should ask your doctor about that.

  • i have my surgery tomorrow =[ i'm also an aspiring college athlete (but only a jr in high school) will i lose my soccer skills and running skills? lol

  • Good luck with your surgery and tell that doc to fix you up! At first after surgery you will be pretty good because you be on pain killers but after a few weeks everything will be clear again. You will want to move more than you are supposed to, but don't. It is worth making sure you can do something as simple as use the stairs before you do so.

  • Part 2

I coach Jr. High school girls and I have played my whole life so I know what you are going through. You are very young and I have known many girls who have had this surgery and are playing and their knee feels great. You have to make sure to stay positive and keep on going! This is very important.

  • Thanks for a preview of what i have to go through some day. you have eased some of my worries. jamie

  • Good luck with you recovery, hope your volleybal works. I'm 13, I've had five surgeries, two more left. I've retorn my ACL's twice now, and have a list of other injuries to last me four lifetimes. Not being athletic really messes with your head, I know, I'm a black belt, and am on a swim team. I got into a pool last week for the first time in six months, I know I wont be able to for another eight since my next surgery is next week. Good luck, and hopefully you'll do better than me!

  • You are wishing me luck when I should be wishing you luck. Thank for commenting on my video and good luck. It is very hard not being active but it will get better. You have a long life ahead of you and you will find things you love or be able to get back to what you do love best.

  • What kind of graft did you use?

Assuming the surgery was successful, you should name normal anterior tibial translation.

However, whatout for tibial rotation differences. It will not be normal even after ACL surgery. Hopefully, you've have some proprioception training.

    Good Luck! P:

  • do you videos from the surgery ?

  • No, I don't have any videos from surgery because they wouldn't let someone film then and I certainly couldn't because I was out cold. There are a lot of videos of ACL surgery on YouTube though just look them up.

  • Been there both knees. It gets better.

  • I'm in recovery from ACL reconstruction surgery (Op Date: January 5th, 2007). It's been tough, especially the physical therapy part, because I've always been able to control my legs, and now it's not cooperating! Getting better though. I can't wait to bounce back and return to the basketball court again.

  • Good luck. It's will be tough but keep a level head and listen to your body. It will get better I promise.

  • How does your knee feel now? Any pain? How is the function? And what kind of Graft did you get?

I'm about to schedule mine soon as well :(

  • Cool sound effects. What did u do to ur knees??

  • I tore my ACL and partially tore my MCL while skiing and that prevented me from playing college soccer for a year. Thank about the sound effects. I had like three hours of footage and this film was so short that I decided to use other parts by including the sounds of them over the final footage.
