Since I woke up to sanity and the wonder of nature about a year ago, I've been radically changing my lifestyle: diet, carbon footprint, consumption. It's not at all as hard as imagined it. Life gets healthier, easier, lighter. It's almost like a veil of dumbness falls off when you start taking steps towards being a conscious human. You get clearer just by being environmentally conscious. I don't know how about you, but the most blissful feelings I get on this planet are experiences in nature.
@mattymuck well, even if we cant lose it, we only have about 0.000075 of all earth's water that's renewable (and suitable for drinking). we're gonna have to drink sea water and eat glaciers if all the people in the world don't care about Earth's water supply.
@mUsIcSmeLYFE .000075 what? percent? its more like 3% of water on earth is suitable for drinking at one time if you include frozen water. Fresh water comes from the ocean anyways... It's not a limited supply, the only limiting factor is the rate at which nature can cause the transition.

You can't use polluted water, you can't effectively collect enough rainfall and you sure as hell can't use salt water (it's not energy-efficient).

LMAO. All the water needed for that latte is freshwater. 2/3 of the world is covered in water but only about 3% is freshwater (with only ~1.5% being easily accessible). Unless you have found a way to grow trees or coffee beans in salt water or get cows to produce milk drinking only salt water, we have a problem.
If you wish to convert salt water into freshwater just ask the Saudis how expensive that conversion is.
minerals aren't expensive...read the content in metals of a water bottle...
that's the only thing you need to add to H2O molecules to make it.
water can also be extracted in DESERTS by "FILTERING" AIR (a place with 0% humidity doesn't exist on this planet).
They "push" hot air on FLAT RADIATORS , condense appears and ,due to gravity, drops of waters are collected and remineralized so that humans can drink it withouth getting sick....
i say there's many ways to think about lfe, now this may retarted to some, but you have to understand to be able NOT say this is stupid. You can think an=bout life revolving around how your going to make the next bill, or how your gonna say next to your freind, or etc. Give this a thumbs down if you don't believe me please!
LOL there's nothing like "overpopulation"... the human species is only 6 billion individuals, quite small as all mammals. The whole human population would be able to live in the state of Texas, and STILL have plenty of room and the nature there would easilly support everyone with food etc.
The problem is that the elite has been domesticating us, urbanizing, putting us in crowded cities that totally exterminate nature in that particular area. And now they blame us!
LOL I looked into your youtube-profile and realized that you're polish!! Then I can understand your caveman-vocabulary made up of one single line involving "idiot", and automatically feeling uncomfortable around informed individuals.
But I fully understand you. Belonging to the worst raped people in history can't be easy.. Welcome to the EU btw, you're set to support us with cheap food and labor :)
A plague of a particular organism is squandering the resources of a contained environment.
If it was cows doing this, or wolves, or deer, or pigs, or dogs, there wouldn't be any question as to what the solution to this problem would be.
But the plague is you. Not drinking a coffee isn't going to improve the world really, but exterminating a few billion people will and the most WASTEFUL people, are in the developed world...
Yes, this is pure propaganda, WHO WWF etc. are probably the most corrupt multinational institutes on this planet. Their whole goal is to tell people that humans are bad.
The earth's surface is covered of over 75% with water. Water purification (reverse osmosis) has come a long way, so this is not a problem at all for the population of the planet that was able to drink latte in the first place.
WWF goes on telling us that polar bears can't swim...... lol
But Humans ARE bad. Humans will destroy the planet.
That doesn't mean the WWF is good. It's a group of people making money off from the destruction of the planet that they have absolutely no intention of actually trying to stop, having long recognized it's impossible to save.
Okay, so what you must not forget is that you are from a well developed country and 99% of the world is not. India, for example is the size of Texas! and if you look at some of the living conditions there, you begin to see how our future could turn out. You are quite bright, yet you waste time on Youtube spreading Blind wisdom.... Whaddup wit dat?
There is no water shortage. There is just as much water, as there was a thousand years ago. There's just way too many people.......Change the way you think...About everything....Including, the human over burden.
Speaking for the US, only. We passed below the magical fertility rate of 1.8, nearly 40 years ago. Why has our population more than doubled since then? Immigration. 100% of the US population growth over the last 40 years has been the result of immigration and the children , thereof. This not conjecture. It's numbers. Check me out at numbersusa(dot)com
wait, so.. you're saying we shouldn't think of ways to use less water but.. kill people so there is enough water for everyone? or stop having babies? cause dear, you gotta see, that doesn't work.
hmm...maybe they've overrated it a bit, but why did they choose latte?no, seriously, they could have chosen something we use every day and we really don't need, but ads make us buy?
you just described a latte perfectly, you dont NEED it, lots of people get them daily, and they get it b/c ads tell them that it'll make the day less stressful if they have that little bit of energy and the warm feeling that comes with a latte.
I'm not an idiot. There's a reason why I posted a comment like that..Because it sounded better as WORLD WRESTLING FEDERATION..Now WWE?..it sounds gay than it used to be..Entertainment sounds too general and it's only fooling you to watch fake wrestling.UFC is probably the only real fighting show. But too bad it has rules.ECW was the shit back then though. But now ECW looks like they're fake wrestling too ever since they went to SCI-FI.
the reason you're an idiot is that this video has nothing to do with wrestling at all, the wwf is the world wildlife fund, not the world wrestling federation, do some research.
Fallacy: The earth and everything on it is sustainable. The Lion King "circle of life" is unending and if we repent our evil ways and become good stewards the earth will always provide for us. FACT: The earth and everything on it is FINITE. It and everything else will be consumed by the Sol when it reaches its red giant phase in 5 billion years. We should all attempt to conserve "reasonably" without being forced to return to the hunter-gatherer society when everyone died by age 40.
Water is not a renewable resource. What exists on earth now is the only water we will ever have, and less than 1 percent of it is available for human use...
This is a great example of environmentalist propaganda supported by junk science. Its a pretty montage of music and images. Nothing more.
The author fails to site his sources, fails to support his math, and fails to state how we can reduce the misreported quantity of water he claims goes into making a single cup of coffee, and fails to mention that 100% of the water used to make a cup of coffee is recyclable.
This video fails on so many levels it's not funny.
I can't agree with u. This video just tries to make u think about things we consume and use. That in some way each of us can reduce our consumption, and in some other way we probably can try to make smth good in our organizations! It all starts from each of us.For example, it takes 1 tonne of water to make a T-shirt! And we have so many clothes that we wore only few times and that's it. Maybe let's stop buying things if we don't really need them, and start to think about our waste and footprints.
this is stupid! water? it's unconsumable, its infinite! dam you can burn out all the oil but water? omg you should put ine of oceans out in space so we have more place to live, but wtf? :D save water?
@Nintendodude1994 your comment is one of those I was talking about.... 1994? is that your year of birth?... If so, grow up a little so we can talk serious matters...
@Rufochka Serious matters? The only serious matter I see is yo' head! People are the smartest beings on the planet and as far as we know the smartest beings in the universe! I will have none of this short sighted pessimism, and I will have none of your age discrimination! The more you go around living your life calling people stupid the more you'll create that reality for yourself. And YOU have to change that. It's your brain, and its your choice how you view people and how you love them.
@Nintendodude1994 short sighted pessimism?? ... is it short sightness to say that by receiving a bullet in your heart youd probably die? NO, it is just to consider the actual facts of reality. This video intends to do the same. This video tries to show how much water is spent in simple activities such as drinking coffee. Age discrimination? Not at all, i am just saying that I see it difficult for you to give well grounded arguments at such young age, specially talking about scientific stuff
@Nintendodude1994 that brings me to the point in which you say "go ask a chimpanzee how smart he is" and "People are the smartest beings on the planet"... and that is supposed to mean what? I cant deny that humans are, in general, pretty smart but how is that going to solve huge environmental problems if there is not even awareness of tiny things like how much water is spent on making coffee, or producing meat, or energy or so...
@Rufochka Awareness and stupidity are different things. And there is no scientific fact people are stupid. It's quite the opposite scientifically. I'm just tired of everyone complaining about stupid people when every person is a miracle to the universe.
@Nintendodude1994 ohhhhhhh I now see what your point is... ok ok, lets say every single person in this world is a miracle to universe. and what with it?.. being a miracle to the universe wont change a thing about all the world's problems... what I mean is use that magnificent miraculous brain for a good purpose. Some of the comments on this page are, well, lets just say inaccurate...
Keep in mind that the water isn't actually used up... it's just returned to the oceans. Huge quantities of water being used up would only really affect places with huge water supply problems, and if you're in the middle of a drought then you're not going to devote your life to farming coffee beans.
The electricity, on the other hand, used by peoples computers as they watch this video is created largely by burning coal, releasing greenhouse gasses into the environment.
Not only that but the more water we have, the more of the one item that produces the most CO2 on earth we have. Water produces more greenhouse gas than any other source. Change your thinking eliminate drinking and get rid of all the water. Stop breathing while your at it that liberal CO2 is nauseating.
I love me some lattes :D, this video makes me want to buy one.
This is ridiculous, get off youtube if you don't want to waste electricity in your home and the youtube servers with all the comments and search queries. It's a lot of electricity you know.
Correct me if I'm wrong but H2O is cyclical, meaning it goes through a cycle and winds back up as H2O on the earth. Water is not being "destroyed" in the process. When you mix O2 and H2 the resulting product is H2O. We are not losing water, however I do support trying to make a lesser impact on the environment.
I think it may be right if all that process was just to make 1 latte but as you don't just make one cup of coffee at a time, (inc farming/transportation/production ect) then it must average at a lot less, otherwise the earth would be perm dry? lol
this video was just put up to show how much water is used for a latte - and to make SOME people think - for all those air brains who think that the world is perfectly fine - well then you've wasted 1:33 of your life - GET OVER IT
I like this. if PETA would've done this, they would've said: "STOP DRINKING COFFEE BLAAARGH!!!". WWF, however, proposes "Hey, we don't want you to cut on your lifestyle, we wanna make you think. How can we do this more efficiently?".
PS: what's the big deal with saving water? I mean, it's naturally restored, it's never lost. We've been having the same amount of water for what, 2, 3 billion years? I don't see that changing soon enough.
Fossil water, built up from the ice ages, is humanities primary source of fresh water,
and it's nearly gone. Soon, in the tropical reigons, the only things growing will be drip irrigated. Most of the land will be desert, and that will be busy producing fresh water via solar distilation, with pumps powered more by wind turbines & less by solar heat farms, due to decreased temperature differential. We've screwed up, bad. Learn more. Be part of the survival solution, not the problem.
This video is misleading. I'm studying to be a Marine Biologist, and so I do care about conservation as much, if not more than, the next guy, but this video exaggerates things. It leads us to believe that 1 latte is made by 200 liters of water. Um, not really. That's gonna make a helluva lot of lattes because the sugar, coffee, materials, etc. are all mass produced, not just individually. So, yeah, powerful video, albeit a gross over-estimate.
new world order united nations globalist propaganda funded by huge corporations that rape the earth for profits far more than any individual. freedom of speech!
not at all.. i mean u need milk.. and to get milk u need a cow and this cow needs water to drink... and what does it take the sugercane and the coffee plant to grow? water.

that's the only thing you need to add to H2O molecules to make it.
water can also be extracted in DESERTS by "FILTERING" AIR (a place with 0% humidity doesn't exist on this planet).
They "push" hot air on FLAT RADIATORS , condense appears and ,due to gravity, drops of waters are collected and remineralized so that humans can drink it withouth getting sick....

achubbykid 2 years ago
LOL there's nothing like "overpopulation"... the human species is only 6 billion individuals, quite small as all mammals. The whole human population would be able to live in the state of Texas, and STILL have plenty of room and the nature there would easilly support everyone with food etc.
The problem is that the elite has been domesticating us, urbanizing, putting us in crowded cities that totally exterminate nature in that particular area. And now they blame us!

You're an idiot, aren't you?

I guess it's easier to say words like "idiot" instead of looking up the data yourself and defeat my argument in an constructive way?
But, why do i bother? You're obviously another sheep, another fundamentalist that treat every aspect of reality like it was your religion.
People like you have come and gone in history; in the shape of Nazis, commies and other fundamentalists that lacks respect of others point of view.
And, you will suffer the same destiny cuz it all repeats.

MrJimijazz149 2 years ago
Here is what is happening.
Who has the will to fix it?
fuzzywzhe 2 years ago
Yes, this is pure propaganda, WHO WWF etc. are probably the most corrupt multinational institutes on this planet. Their whole goal is to tell people that humans are bad.
The earth's surface is covered of over 75% with water. Water purification (reverse osmosis) has come a long way, so this is not a problem at all for the population of the planet that was able to drink latte in the first place.
WWF goes on telling us that polar bears can't swim...... lol
clarkcolt45 2 years ago
But Humans ARE bad. Humans will destroy the planet.
That doesn't mean the WWF is good. It's a group of people making money off from the destruction of the planet that they have absolutely no intention of actually trying to stop, having long recognized it's impossible to save.
fuzzywzhe 2 years ago
Okay, so what you must not forget is that you are from a well developed country and 99% of the world is not. We should all attempt to conserve "reasonably" without being forced to return to the hunter-gatherer society when everyone died by age 40.

apparently, there's 3 more different ways the earth will die out.
1. A comet

monsieurearth 2 years ago
This is a great example of environmentalist propaganda supported by junk science. Its a pretty montage of music and images. Nothing more.
The author fails to site his sources, fails to support his math, and fails to state how we can reduce the misreported quantity of water he claims goes into making a single cup of coffee, and fails to mention that 100% of the water used to make a cup of coffee is recyclable.
This video fails on so many levels it's not funny.
jgomberg 2 years ago
I can't agree with u. This video just tries to make u think about things we consume and use. That in some way each of us can reduce our consumption, and in some other way we probably can try to make smth good in our organizations! It all starts from each of us.For example, it takes 1 tonne of water to make a T-shirt! And we have so many clothes that we wore only few times and that's it. Maybe let's stop buying things if we don't really need them, and start to think about our waste and footprints.

Rufochka 10 months ago
@Rufochka Serious matters? The only serious matter I see is yo' head! People are the smartest beings on the planet and as far as we know the smartest beings in the universe! I will have none of this short sighted pessimism, and I will have none of your age discrimination! The more you go around living your life calling people stupid the more you'll create that reality for yourself. And YOU have to change that. It's your brain, and its your choice how you view people and how you love them.
Nintendodude1994 10 months ago
@Nintendodude1994 short sighted pessimism?? ... is it short sightness to say that by receiving a bullet in your heart youd probably die? NO, it is just to consider the actual facts of reality. This video intends to do the same. This video tries to show how much water is spent in simple activities such as drinking coffee. Age discrimination? Not at all, i am just saying that I see it difficult for you to give well grounded arguments at such young age, specially talking about scientific stuff
Rufochka 10 months ago
@Nintendodude1994 that brings me to the point in which you say "go ask a chimpanzee how smart he is" and "People are the smartest beings on the planet"... and that is supposed to mean what? I cant deny that humans are, in general, pretty smart but how is that going to solve huge environmental problems if there is not even awareness of tiny things like how much water is spent on making coffee, or producing meat, or energy or so...
Rufochka 10 months ago
@Rufochka Awareness and stupidity are different things. And there is no scientific fact people are stupid. It's quite the opposite scientifically. I'm just tired of everyone complaining about stupid people when every person is a miracle to the universe.
Nintendodude1994 10 months ago
@Nintendodude1994 ohhhhhhh I now see what your point is... ok ok, lets say every single person in this world is a miracle to universe. and what with it?.. being a miracle to the universe wont change a thing about all the world's problems... what I mean is use that magnificent miraculous brain for a good purpose. Some of the comments on this page are, well, lets just say inaccurate...

Snipershot009 2 years ago
why are you even here then??
supercr1 2 years ago
@Snipershot009 not so simple as that... not all the water you "recycle" by pissing is actually available for earth...
Rufochka 10 months ago
Keep in mind that the water isn't actually used up... it's just returned to the oceans. Huge quantities of water being used up would only really affect places with huge water supply problems, and if you're in the middle of a drought then you're not going to devote your life to farming coffee beans.
The electricity, on the other hand, used by peoples computers as they watch this video is created largely by burning coal, releasing greenhouse gasses into the environment.
mikeygberman 2 years ago
Not only that but the more water we have, the more of the one item that produces the most CO2 on earth we have. Water produces more greenhouse gas than any other source. Change your thinking eliminate drinking and get rid of all the water. Stop breathing while your at it that liberal CO2 is nauseating.

? - starbucks causes global warming now - huh?
50 gallons to make a latte? - wtf?
GWfarce69 2 years ago
I think it may be right if all that process was just to make 1 latte but as you don't just make one cup of coffee at a time, (inc farming/transportation/production ect) then it must average at a lot less, otherwise the earth would be perm dry? lol

I don't see that changing soon enough.
dLema1 2 years ago 3
@dLema1 No.
