  • thankyou so much for response!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is incredible!!! thankyou so much where have you been all my life! It took me forever to find the best video with the RIGHT TIPS! NOW I CAN FINALLY DO IT!!!!!!

what is that gel called in the beginning ?

    thanks again!

  • @dominicanpride95 Thank you! You can use any kind of gel, even from 99c stores. Setting lotion will do well, too, but, in reality, it is like diluted gel.

  • I think this is the best fingerwaving video on youtube. I have been looking for a good one for months now. Thank you so much. Now I have the confidence to try it on my own!!!!!!

  • @jbutle80 Thank you! Students have hard time learning fingerwaves, but, once they master it, they like fingerwaving.

  • i take my Cosmeotolgy test next friday!! wish me luck everyone! i'll be doing this :)

  • @materialgurl0718 Good luck, Let us know about your test, and what was it about. thanks.

  • I teach cosmo. This is still taught but no longer at California State Board. It is a combination of techniques. Many, like pincurls are used on updos. Styles recycle themselves, I would never would have guessed that I would also be teaching 1940's Victory Rolls, but they are very popular. If a student can master a fingerwave, roller placement, stand up curls, and pin curls, they can do almost anything...and they are not limited by electricity. Rural wedding location...wet set.

  • @Jenx10sen Thank you so much for your comment; I completely agree.

  • I wonder why such an antiquated style is required. seems like something you might be asked to do once or twice in you lifetime

  • @GraceAnnHawkins It was required to learn to pass the previous state board test, but, now, they removed it from the exam. Nevertheless, fingerwaving is a great exercise for hairdressers to better their finger dexterity; and it might come in handy if they work for a production company doing hair on movie sets; example; Chicago (allmost all actreses had fingerwaved hair)

  • @GraceAnnHawkins to tell the truth...this hairstyle is considered "the bomb" hairstyle where I am from. Just like fashion, hairstyles are a cycle....n now im seeing young girl with their hair finger waved

  • This Demo is the very best I've ever seen. And I like how she takes her time..

  • I'm sure that your videos will come in handy bc I am starting cosmetology on monday jan 9th!!!I can't wait!!! :) Thanks for the videos the explain a lot!!

  • @ashleymac20031 You welcome! Cosmetology is a great career!

  • Best I've ever seeeeennnnnn in my life! I'd love to meet you

  • @MrScheron09 Thank you!

  • HOw did women in that era found the time to do this ?? it's so timeconsuming !! I really want to try this style on myself ... is it possible to do this on yourself?

  • @liefpandabeertje I doubt that anyone can fingerwave their own hair; maybe if the hair was heavily layered and short, but still, it is hard to believe. I think women of the fingerwave era had a lot of time, since most did not work; men earned the living; now they don't have time, they work as hard as men do, and sometimes harder.

  • seems like i am gonna need al LOT of practice

  • Hey excellent video. deff the best on here. I cannot find the "99c lotion" anywhere, even online lol. Is this setting lotion specific only to cosmetology institutions? I have always searched for authentic setting lotion in beauty supply stores but I have never found one. The only one iv seen was the redkin spray bottle, but its really nothing. For now, I use ECO Styler gel

  • @NoDoubtArion ECO Styling gel will work, too. Any thick gel will work. They also sell those gels in 99c stores.

  • this is really great but what would happen if the person have curly hair

  • @babymanda5 Actually, fingerwave looks great and is easier to do on curly hair. Straight hair does not hold it as well as curly. Try it, and you'll see; all you need is a good gel.

  • that is gorgeous! the best thing i've seen so far... been looking around on youtube for about 2 hrs.

  • great video, and I remember a picture of my grandma with a hairdo like that (she was born in 1908)

  • i can only dream of doing that. it's so much harder than it looks.

  • x) woah u explained it alot better den my maestra (teacher) i hav to do this tomrrow for an assessment i needed a refreshment :) thx so much!!!

  • @BellaxDork You welcome! Good luck with the assessment.

  • Bravooo! Best finger wave tut on YouTube- swear! Thanks a bunch! :)

  • WHICH STATE THIS

  • @Abramdjek California

  • i CAN DO BETTER WITH WATER

  • @Abramdjek You must be a great hair artist

  • @BeautyHealthTravel we must use finger wave lotion and we can't find that why we doing with water NYC Empire Beauty School

  • @Abramdjek Your question was not so clear, but I will try to explain. Do you mean that you are using water to fingerwave in Empire Beauty School; in that case, it will be harder to finger wave, but it is possible, but, after that you will be able to finger wave with any product. Maybe the instructors want you to learn the hard way, or the school does not want to provide gel.Abramdjek asked; we must use finger wave lotion and we can't find that why we doing with water NYC Empire Beauty School

  • One of the funniest things is that, only one or two hairdressers in our capital city knows how to do this. And it cost about 50€. Just shapeing. Amazing video!

  • Also! What brand is the setting lotion?

  • @MorbidVixen The setting lotion is 99c lotion; all the lotions have the same ingredients; they have to have a resin called PVP, the rest is marketing; you pay for the bottle, the air bubbles, if any, and the color.

  • this is fantastic! now if only I can could do this on myself.

  • SO GENIUS. never seen it explained SO CLEARLY and so simply..done so much better than the hectic hairspray iron way. This is much healthier for the hair too!

  • wow, this took 5 minutes- no prior curling needed! great tutorial!

  • @julesrose256 Thank you, everyone can do it, if they practice enough.

  • this is very helpful!! thank you so much! :)

  • @TheDarwood000 You welcome!

  • WASH HANDS WITH SOAP AND WATER

  • It's definitely a prob when people havta be told 2 use SOAP AND WATER !! LOL. She could've just said 'wash your hands' and just left it at that. In a way it's kind of an insult to someone's intelligence. But, oh well. Maybe that's just her routine way of giving out instructions and she didn't mean it in a bad way.

  • @williedrums You are right. It is a routine way of giving out instructions; all the state board procedures start with "washing hands with soap and water" and all the books state the procedures that way, too. I am sure you will feel much better knowing that the state board has changed washing hands to sanitizing it with any hand sanitizer, and you won't hear the annoying wash with soap and water any longer. Hope this makes you feel better.

  • @BeautyHealthTravel Thanks for the reply. I was mainly responding to emmalii22's repeating 'WASH HANDS WITH SOAP AND WATER'. I know she posted that to be sarcastic ! I'm highly amused when people reiterate a statement from a video. All in good entertainment, education and humor. Have you seen the vid to Belinda's Wave Molding Cap ? It's a really innovative product, she's creative to have devised such a helpful item like that. Thanks again and take care !!

  • @williedrums I think no one should feel insulted by that, just the people that actually need to be told to use soap before touching a client (sadly a lot in my experience...) might want to think about it.

  • @Panbaneesha Thanks !! And I definitely agree with that, just like some people run RIGHT to the refrigerator with dirty hands. YUCK !!! Now just think about what would happen if the instructions in a manual stated, 'Take hot bath/shower before coming into school (or work). LMMFAO. Can you imagine ?!?!?!

  • @williedrums LOL With some people, things might actually improve if that were the case ;-)

  • @Panbaneesha Agreed !!!

  • best tutorial on yt

  • @piiyu1 Thank you!

  • I'm a cosmetology student at my highschool & we didn't exactly do it like this.. My teacher told us have the comb completely flat on the head, push up the hair wave, hold it, push down. & repeat it. D: very very hard to do. Of course. Lol.. But this was very verrrrry helpful (: Thank you sooo much! :D

  • what if the person has hair that is much longer than that? what do you do with the hair that is off the neck?

  • @zanybrainyrainey If the hair is longer than the neck, you can continue waving all the way down over the shampoo cape, although, originally, fingerwave was designed for short hair.

  • @BeautyHealthTravel thank you so much for posting this by the way...lifesaver. one more question if you don't mind: (or anyone else that may want to answer), i am practicing this method on my mannequin and i don't know if it's my gel or what, but my waves don't stay nearly as well as yours. and i have saturated the heck out of her hair...am i doing something wrong?

  • @zanybrainyrainey Fingerwave is hard to do if the hair is not layered, or extremely straight or not moist. If you have a lot of gel, try to spray it with tiny bit of water. I hope this helps.

  • wher can u get these head dolls things

  • @NeishaShow You can get the doll heads from most beauty supply stores, like Sally's Beauty Supply or online.

  • @BeautyHealthTravel thank you

  • wow!! That was so amazing!!! Love it!!

  • I'm getting a head start on this by watching you very helpful video! :) thanks!! I have to do finger-waving on Friday in my class. Have you made any other videos? Chignon? Marcelling? :)

  • @saamwaam I have the marcel iron video. Just scroll down the list on my channel. Good luck with your fingerwaves; all you need is patience and practice.

  • I love

  • TY These are really helpful for me!

  • thankyou for this video. I will be watching this over and over and over. Iam in beauty school and i go on " the floor" in two days. I have a wet set practical tomoroow iam so NERVOUS!!!

  • What kind of waving lotion did/do you use. At my school they have us using regular hair gel. Thank you making these videos. They are extermly helpful!

  • @pinkatastrophe We also use the regular gel; it is thick and holds the wave really good. A chemist friend of mine told me that the ingredients of all gels are alike; they all have PVP resin, water and very few ingredients. The only difference is the thickness. The simple 99c store gel is thick enough. Just don't get the gel with a lot of air bubbles; their only use is to make the amount of gel look more than it really is.

  • What kind of waving lotion did/do you use. At my school they have us using regular hair gel.

  • best fingerwave I've ever seen. Thank You ;0)

  • maybe i know more good easy n quick how to this work. lol

  • i tried it to wear tomorrow, i dont know if it will set, but lets hope. thanks! :D

  • that's beautiful work...and a beautiful explanation :)

  • great job i wish i could do this on my head by myself :D

  • I would have liked to seen the where the pin curls are placed. I am testing this wednesday and I am from another state. do you have a video with pincurls

  • wonderful video by te way very useful- best so far for fingerwaves!

  • could you please let me know the name of the setting lotion you are using? I plan on getting it!

  • I agree with everyone! Thank you for this video! Your way is easier than how my instructor is teaching us. :)

  • Hello

I must say that your finger wave video is the best one on youtube !!! I have been watching and trying all sorts of techniques but non of them come close to yours !!!!

I am especially grateful for the up load, because in 3 days I'm taking my state board exam :)

    Thank you

  • thanks for this video! you did a much better job explaining than my teacher!

  • @jmichelle0813 You welcome! Keep practicing.

Best of luck in your cosmetology career.

  • Fantastic Tutorial. The best one I have seen for fingerwaves! Thank you! I've wanted to know how to do this for a very long time - and now I know thatnks to this video. Thank you!

  • You welcome! I left you a link for the state board set video that has the pin curls, as you asked. It also has the roller placements: over-directed, on base, half on/ half off base, and completely off base. Different state have some differences in the procedures (practical), but this is what we do in California.

  • oh my god I wish you were my teacher. you have helped me more than you even realize. thank you kindly from my heart.

  • this was beautiful. thanks

  • @little901princess You welcome! Thanks for your comment.
