  • Come as u are, w just ur heart ill take u as u are

  • Eu gostei mas aonde posso encontrar o CD. Em que loja?

  • Lol this song was number 1 on my birthday in 1977

  • One of the best songs of 1977, still sounds fresh and exciting.

  • I do not understand how much time has passed....!!!!

  • every time I hear this song, my eyes fill with tears ...!!!

  • Just finished listening to "American Top 40 - The '70s" with Casey Kasem, & this was the #1 song for the week ending January 8th, 1977! Great singing & songwriting never go out of style! "You Don't Have To Be A Star" knocked Rod Stewart's "Tonight's The Night (Gonna Be Alright)" out of the #1 position (where Stewart's song held for the seven previous consecutive weeks in the top spot)!

Bravo, Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis, Jr.!

  • I love this song (makes me wanna cry tear*

  • Much underrated Classic!

  • @zodiolestes

    Yes, this is the JAM!

  • Damn...this song so nice!

  • brilljant song!

  • What genre is this song?

  • @more1and1more

    Soul/Motown/RnB something like that

  • @more1and1more This would a Pop song. Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis, along with their group the Fifth Dimension, wasn't considered soul or R&B, they were strictly a pop act that transcended all races and ages. And they were marvelous singers and performers.

  • ♪もはや、ポピュラー・ソウル・デュオ・クラッシック、超美女だったネ!マリリン・マックー、ビリー・デイヴィスとの粋なミディアム・バラード"星空の二人”♪~♪

  • All men are brothers. Jesus loves all the children of the world regardless of race, creed, color, culture or denomination.

  • A rarity in pop music in any era, a true love song. (Not just various plays on sex with the tempo slowed down.) Thanks for posting this!

  • @skoobi25: I think the point that READY4REV made...went right over your head. Talk about taking a comment out of context. Maybe it's something in the water where you come from?

  • God bless ya, Marilyn, and, Billy!

  • My Favorite Song

  • WOO HOO! I remember that, so cool! Good times...

  • @racerxnsx: You are just one White person, this is so much bigger then you. READY4REV is right on point with that comment. It is always funny to me how some Whites feel qualified to tell Black people how to respond to their pain. To me that is like someone shooting you in the foot and then want to dictate to you how to respond to the pain they have inflicted on you. I guess that unitl or unless the script is flipped you Whites are just never gonna get it because you are not on the receiving end.

  • sang from the heart!

  • Great vocal chemistry. My favourite record from 1977, what a breath of soulful air from a time when punk was polluting the airwaves.

  • love this song!

  • what does this song have to do with black or any race for that matter . your a racist

my brother. God Loves you though. What color am I you don't even have a clue

  • Nice song

  • I remember hearing this for the first time in my uncles big ass Ford LTD he bought in the late 70's

  • @Panzerfeust

It was 76-77. I was in 11th grade and drove our big LTD, and this song played all the time. But I never got sick of this song, though that car was quite an eyesore.

  • real class act.....

  • Love it!

  • Music at its BEST!!! Thanks for Posting....

  • I HEAR THIS SONG PLAYING AT BIG LOTS DEPARTMENT STORE ALL THE TIME !!!!

  • @Lakena2552 omg so true

  • @Lakena2552 Why are you Big Lots all the time?

  • @polycarpx I am a Big Lots Employee And This is my Favorite song !!! I am so Glad that Big Lots has this song Playing on the over Head speakers all the Time !!!!!

  • @Lakena2552 I worked in retail for a while and the 70's soundtrack almost made that job seemed worthwhile.

  • Love this song!!!! Perfect duet

  • A Detroit music production. So Fine.

  • I never get bored of this classic song. brings back so so many happy memories for me. Love it !

  • This song always makes me think of Jesus. really listen to the words. Jesus singing it to you. Even in the first Line:Baby come as you are with just your heart and I'll take you in."

  • @ksgal1 WTF ! has nothing to do with jesus or any other religion for that matter. Its just a cool and classic song, nothig what so ever to do with religion....

  • They play this song at my workplace everyday. Fucking awesome.

  • My mom has this on 45RPM! Classic tune!! One of my favorites!!

  • TODAY ME AND MY BROTHER WAS LISTENINGTO THIS SONG I HEAR THIS WHEN WAS 11 YEAR OLD THE BEST A PERFECT TO SHOW TO DONT FEEL BAD :D...........

  • song

  • Every time I hear this sond it reminds me of Michael and Penny on the TV show Good Times.

  • "And I don't neeeeeed no superstar, cuz I'll accept u as u are...you won't be denied/cuz I'm satisfied with the love you inspire!" Sing it Ms McCoo.

  • that album cover is classy as hell.

  • This is my dad's jam :)

  • Shame on Marily McCoo & Billy Davis Jr. Shame on these 2 DUMMIES for supporting that PHONY PREACHER on the 700 CLUB Pat Robertson aftyer he endorsed Rudy Guliani for President. I Will never buy another Fifth Dimension Album, nor will I buy a product that supports these 2 PIECES OF GARBAGE ever again.

  • @34kevinj gayyyyyyyyyy-yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy(cough)yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • These two sung with the five-member group called 5th Dimension.

  • Great song & lyrics - I still remember it from when I was little.

  • This song came out the year I was born

  • Everyone has the right to post their opinion. I still stand by my original comment.By the way I don't whine.Ha!

  • Anybody remember their summer TV show circa '79-80?

  • These two can sing! God given talent and they knew what to do with it; and I heard they're still married which is a rareity in the business.

  • I've looked at this album cover hundreds of times, and had never noticed before, is Marilyn invoking some sort of hand sign in her pose?

  • very very good song !

  • This song seemed to play all the time when I was in high school...then again, I never got tired of hearing it.

  • As a honky white man all i got to say is AWESOME song lol

  • @rakwar ...You are a good sport, dude, sort of funny way of putting it and good taste in good music too. Peace.

  • Marilyn McCoo was smoking hot back in the day on Solid Gold.

  • Still grooving to this!!!!

  • @likepatsandGTOs: I wish for the samething....and until or unless there is mutual respect that is a fairytale blowing in the wind. Fact is,Black ppl never set up all these divisions and we have absolutely no history of hating other races of ppl because of skin color. That is what was done to us and now all these years later people want to make it look like we had a hand in that....when we didn't. Blk ppl still are being discriminated against til this very day....so let's keep it real.

  • i love this song, wonderful, marcos from brasil.

  • thanks for upload these issues as particularly memorable one unforgettable era, never again. JoveWilliams Thanks, I'm Latin but I had this music with soul in my 52 years.

  • xoxoxooxoxoxoxoxoxox

  • Many Thanks For The Post !!

  • I am starting to notice that when Black people love one another and come together....that seems to bother alot of people. As long as we are fighting amongst ourselves all the outsiders are happy. I love Black culture and music and the uniqueness of the Black experience in this country. We are a wonderful people and i have a deep love for my race....but not to the disrespect of other races. I love to see Irish ppl celebrate St. Patricks's Day,or Jews observe Yom Kipur, that's their pride and joy.

  • @READY4REVELATION I just wish we could just appreciate what all we humans have in common versus the differences.....the world would be a much nicer place!

  • @READY4REVELATION

"I am starting to notice that when Black people love one another and come together....that seems to bother alot of people."

I think that statement is a bit paranoid. As a white guy I just don't see it that way. I wouldn't have found my way here and make a comment if I didn't just love the music for what it is. Don't forget that you were not the only one to grow up in this era and appreciate the music.

  • @READY4REVELATION k. so are u saying that white ppl dont love one another or come together ? or that we dont we dont feel the same about irish ppl or Jewish ppl ? Why do u emphasise on black ppl ?

  • @P1683: I agree 1000%.....i am not trying to be racist because i'm not....but nothing touches you like soul music does. In my opinion no other music can touch soul music. Black music and culture is very unique and it clearly stands out. @richjohnf: Why is it that when Black people show pride and love in their culture ppl like you make ignorant statements? When other races show pride like the Irish,Jews,Italians those comments never come up....why is that? Why should you have a issue with it?

  • I so totally love this song & duo! The best!!!!

  • GREAT Old song...thanx for posting it!!

  • 13 people as of May 25, 2011 don't know good music. What a great song and great songwriting!

  • Beautiful lyrics from the heart...thank-you!

  • The breakdown in this song is r kelly step n da name of love, wen da pied piper borrows music he does a great job haha

  • i was a youngster when this came out... but i knew it was good music and i bought the 45...Marilyn McCoo was this her last hit? She did SOLID GOLD in the 80's?? I'll have to google her.

  • "they'll be no cheering from the crowd / just two hearts beating out loud / they'll be no parades / no tv or stage / only me in your night and day"

"now I don't need no superstar / cause I'll accept you as you are / you won't be denied / cause I'm satisfied / with the love you inspire"...

I love those lyrics. Sometimes this makes me feel sooooo bad because I am single. But I won't give up. Unfortunately, today everybody is trying to be a star.

  • @vidform gayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • wow.....still got that feelin....just awesome ...you dont have too be a star babe...yeah

  • CLASSIC !

  • I don't know if we will ever get back to "real" music. And true love songs are almost dead...it's a shame.

  • I use to play this song over and over at my grandmas and try to make her sing it with me. She never sang but she would dance with me.

    I miss my grandma.

  • Such amazing song....

  • Takes me back!! That's when singers were talented and songs were well written and had great melody!!

  • xoxoxoxoxoxoxooxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

  • 13 Justin Bieber's fans disliked it and I hope they will kill themselves soon...

  • songs like this gives meaning to "the day the music died"

  • I bought this as a 45 back then, great tune. $1 at DJ's Sound City and the center discs were 25c. They also had their own TV show. What a voice she has.

  • I'm speechless

  • What a perfect song for romance, amazing beyond words!

  • THE LINE...."...ONLY ME...UNTIL YOUR DYING DAY..."...SCARES THE SHIT OUTTA ME!!!! IT'S WHY I NEVER GOT MARRIED!!!

  • good times brought me here

  • @safaribarbie1 What episode?

  • @apachette07 i think its when they had something like a talent show

  • @safaribarbie1 Oh ok. I remember one episode when Michael sang, but it was for a rent party. Was it that one?

  • @apachette07 i dont think so i think they were singing to help raise money to save a daycare so that this lady wouldnt have to get back on welfare.

  • @safaribarbie1 Oh ok. Might have to Youtube that...

  • @apachette07 okay u should

  • 13 ppl who dont want to be a star

This sounds quality is too good on my headphones right now in stereo.

Thank heavens we moved most music to the FM stations shortly thereafter.

  • BLACK SOUL MUSIC IS NUMBER 1 AND ALWAYS WILL BE

  • @P1683 why does it always have to be racist,,,,,,,,why not just say soul music,,,,, i love country music and old rock but i dont say i love white country music or say i love white classic rock...but i do like some soul music too

  • How do you top this? You don't...cause this is real music. No sound effects,no samples, just clear voices and a message from the heart. Radio stations should be ashamed of themselves. They have a chance to make a difference, but they choose to chase the money leaving us with crap 86% of the time.Hit me up cause I'll have my own station soon. We'll be rockin music like this.

  • @dolphinbuc I no words to top this. An exact reason why why will never hear music like this.

  • Comment removed

  • @dolphinbuc i agree! Just say when and where and i'll be there :o) Ooooh, I'm a poet and I didnt even know it

  • @dolphinbuc I don't completely agree. But I certainly think that a lot of genres have been invaded and abused by computers and technical effects. I think there's a place for all that stuff. Artists could be expanding on electronic and techno and other things like that first before they start trying to change the face of R&B and Hip Hop. You're right. their should be a filter for some of these things. But we should let everyone do their own thing. Nothing is perfect.

  • @RuthlessVision Well thought out.If your field is techno or club music,I wasn't actually referring to that as so much focusing on the face of R&B music. This is simple and naturally beautiful. If more artists put their hearts in it,I'd be on board. Most artists sing to pick up a check with hollow messages.I'm not for that. These folks did more with less, and for that I applaud and appreciate them for it.

  • @dolphinbuc I just meant that I wished there was more emphasis on real vocals, and use of instruments rather than using only computer-generated sounds, which dominate R&B right now. I've been listening to a lot of R&B artists lately, new and old, and I find the difference in quality to be almost devastating. To see what R&B was and what it is now is a sad sight. I can't even listen to new R&B, it sounds like junk, just awful and redundant. But this stuff, oh man, this has opened my eyes (ears).

  • @dolphinbuc

I'll hit u up, just let me know

  • @dolphinbuc Radio stations and media are owned by a criminal mafia with an anti-Life philosophy and agenda.

  • @dolphinbuc It was so weird for you to say radio stations should be ashamed of themselves when I first heard this song on the radio today!

  • @dolphinbuc I agree with you--where all the great singers now?

  • @windstorm1000

There are great voices even now but they're singing stuff we can't relate to or enjoy. What a pity!

  • @dolphinbuc Stop whining and accept that music changes. This music still exists. Music has always evolved and always will.

  • This is real music from the heart
