  • Joel used to visit and sometimes help out in my fathers sports shop in Swinton, Manchester Uk. Such a nice guy. I think it was when he was at Littleborough CC.

  • Joel garner is my uncle he was born in 1952 my dad is his brother he is 6ft 8 and I'm Keegan garner look it up he's 70 years old

  • Joel was a nightmare. Once Andy Roberts and Michael Holding had finished with you it would be Garner and Croft. Nowhere to hide. Garner is easily the best one day bowler I've seen.

  • Great Gavaskar;

One has to say facing Westindian attack of those times without helmet shows the confidence of little man n command on his cricket.

As for Garner it doesnt surprise me. They always have kept superiority than any others in the discipline of line n length. holding, marshal one can just go on. sadly the the pleasure of watching Westindian test bowling finished with Walsh n Ambrose saga.

W.Indies n Pakistan 2 only kilns of real fast test bowlers burning their talents in politics

  • wow he would have owned any batsman including bradman

  • Joel Garner Makes every one else look like midgets

  • super bowler.

  • he was just nasty i saw him bowl in person.

  • my god...his monstrous presence itself could kill a bastman...

  • looks overwhelming just watching imagine facing him, lol

  • @cs32aa True , I would have ran away ! This dude Gavaskar is facing him without helmet !

  • look how quickly the big man gets off the pitch too!

  • how tall is he

  • 6' 8"

He had a powerful back and set of shoulders which generated all that speed.

  • why would anyone play him without a helmet?

  • cricket was tougher back then.

  • What a load rubbish attractivue.

Show me a modern batsman that can score as fast as Compton or Woolley then. 300 runs in a one dayer? Those gus scored 300 themselves in about a bit over 3 hours. On uncovered wickets. And dont even get me started on Jessop or Trumper.

Have a look at the record for most runs in a day in Tests. The only modern player in the top ten is Sehwag.

And please feel free to name a modern batsman that would claim he has a better technique than Jack Hobbs.

  • personally i think bowling was at its best during the late 90s and early 2000s

  • most of the time with Garner it was your toes that were in danger, his stock ball was the yorker and I have to say I don't think I've seen anyone use the yorker to better effect in tests or one dayers. Garner left the bouncers to Holding, Roberts, Marshall, Clarke most of the time

  • Practically unplayable

Would love to see how the greats would have faced up against him - Bradman, Tendulkar, Lara, Richards (both B.A. and I.V.!) and everyone else!

    Maybe in the next life.

    Top quality vid, mate

  • If only he didn't loose those couple of yards of pace by falling away in his follow though.

  • He wasn't good enough for you?

    Please.

Give credit where it's due, mate.

  • one of the best ever. his figures are one of the best of all time.

  • He is TAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL

  • He realy is biggest gaiant of cricket

  • yes he is
