My limited German doesn't allow me to fully comprehend what "Mitzi" is singing at the beginning, though I know it's to express her sadness about being away from "Franz." Anyhow, Rene not only sings Mitzi's part excellently but also does a great job of emoting...a very touching solo.
You are right, Rene Cerncec sure sung so beautifully as "Mitzi" and showed so much emotions, I was fortunate enough to have seen him and the boys perform in Japan, he was such a memorable choir boy and all the boys were great as well! They even sopke in Japanese!
Well, that is too long ago for me! I'd settle for the return of Ferdinand Grossmann and Hans Gillesberger. I have to wonder what Helmuth Froschauer, Uwe Christian Harrer, Herman Furthmoser, Peter Marschik and Georg Stangelberger - all of whom are still living - must think of the current choir?

And, I should have added Martin Schebesta, the last Kapsch who invested his Brucknerchor - onl two years ago! - with a small bit of that excellence. If he were here to say so, my guess is, he was simply tired of touring with a wife and family in Vienna. But I also believe that the lowered standards of the current regime played a role in his decision to leave.

I got to see Herr Schebesta's group at Carnegie Hall in December 2005. Indeed his group's performance came very close to the fine WSK standards of years prior. Herr Schebesta's influence even in 2005 gave me great hope that the WSK would be on the rebound. But I'm sorry to hear that he left the organization.
Wow! It just hit me that Mitzi is played by Rene! I don't know who else it could have been, only he has such volume, range and control.

Beautiful solo singing. Musical. Intelligent. With humor. What a concept! Will we ever hear and see this again?

I think we'll have to wait for the return of the Habsburgs!
