Ok. It is not intended to replace the driver, but to help the driver, but what about for people with certain disabilities like people with vision impairment? I think that some big companies need to think beyond the needs for other people.
If a car with no driver breaks the law and gets pulled over, I would love to see what the cop does at seeing it empty. "How the f^%$k do I write a ticket or arrest this???????!!!!!!"
Of course it will replace drivers. Logistic comparnies all over the world are already counting the days when to replace their human drivers with a computer. No human mistakes, no need to sleep, a single guy in command room controlling a fleet of vehicles, saving the gasoline to carry an 200lbs human around. The advantages are overwhelming. Anyone who has a job that involves driving should start looking elsewhere.

@Cohagentron Actually India and China have HIGHEST death rates on road than rest of the World. And they don't even have as many cars per capita compared to the West. the roads are lawless over there it's crazy lol
@kingryan3 Their pay is fucked because all they have to do is monitor the car and unload the items in their car. Taxi drivers same, they just watch the passengers so they don't do anything to the car.
should this come to pass you think medical insurance will cover it(the technology added part not the car itself) for people they have ability to learn to drive but by law can't get a license because they may have seizures at the wheel.
Start price I would imagine would be........ $250,000 good luck on reducing the price for ALL home owners to be able to afford this. Considering for an a mediocre desktop gaming computer is around $3,000.
I swear I thought of this, down to every single detail. It is kind of an obvious idea, we have GPSes that are accurate within feet now and cruise control already, combine the two (add a database for the speed limits of the roads) and put in a steering mechanism and a sensor to make it play nice with the rest of traffic.
The technology for this has been around since the mid 2000s at least! Good to see someone finally doing it. I can't wait until I don't have to drive anymore.
@theeugoogalizor yeah but you gotta think about random objects like shopping carts or fallen trees, someone running a red light etc, it's more complicated than you think
@flamecrovv Yeah that is the point of the sensors, obviously we could take over and do manually but do you have any idea how great it would be to get drunk and still be able to go places, or climb into a car with no windows and just watch a movie like you would on an airplane.
This technology could also make cars way more fuel efficient, because the biggest problem with that is braking etc... think about all the stuff that gets transported via big rig trucks in the U.S.
@indierockpete FUnny though. Something like this that is actually interesting has a few thousand views, but stuff like Chaaaalee Bit Me! Has millions.
@indierockpete Ya, fake and gay. Just keep your head in the sand, and see where it gets you! This is not only a reality, it will eventually be integrated in to all cars, assuming cars are still the way we travel in the future..
say goodbye to the public transportation industry, much of the medial and police industry, and a good portion of the prison industry. automation is here, and it's not going away. this is where our jobs are being outsourced to, not immigrants.
It won't be long until the cars are better drivers than the humans. They're already better than some human drivers. Eventually, they will be better than even the best human drivers.
This will be a good thing. We may not even need stop signs at that point.
Its the idea from jarastick park

This will definitely cut road rage!
This is way more safer than driving yourself.
Old people always drive slowly- this will help them. It will improve traffic, reduce stress u get whilst driving.
This should be made compulsory on all cars now.
Imagine what impact this ought to have on your car insurance?!!!

"Self-driving cars; will we ever be comfortable with that?"
Let's turn it around:
Human-driven cars; will we ever be comfortable with that?
Humans should not handle such dangerous tools. I'm far more comfortable having super reactive computers handling the road.
