Sixways. It's a good question - if you have a 5d2 - you can download the latest build and decide for yourself if you like the 'Magic Cirlces'. I think I'm on alpha build 4.5 (you'll need to join the Magic Lantern mailing list).
The reason for cirlces is more to do with the need to both see whats happening behind (ie having the minimum masking impact), whilst additionally giving you the best shape for focus information.
Mbsoysa: You'll need to ask the 550d developers (on ML forum!)
Good work. This could be really useful. One thought occurs though - is there a particular reason to use a circle rather than a square? A circle seems inefficient in terms of space usage.
