  • I'll always be in love with Old Japan...

  • Might I suggest for alternate ideas for more culturally accurate traditional sounding music:

tracks containing shinobue, koto, shakuhachi, shamisen, biwa, nohkan, etc...

But while I critique the music, I wanted also to emphasize I also like the overall effect, especially the contrast of modern sounds/images with more traditional sounding images.

  • I *love* this film, but I did notice ONE thing that I that I feel was a big mistake:

    The music.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

2 tracks in the film, containing flute and zither. They were beautiful, but these struck me as strikingly Chinese and NOT Japanese.

Japanese flutes and zithers do exist, but these definitely sound Chinese to me.

I really do love the video, but I think as a company that touts its self (justly) as a foremost expert on Asia, you should check and revise.

  • すこいい!!

    おめでとうございますのありがとうございます。

This is a nice film, I'm heading off to Japan around late June after I attend Japan day in NYC.

  • Japan is so wonderful. the culture, the people, the language, the landscape, the nature are so beautiful!!!!

  • @Quy4life you do know a lot of their culture is borrowed from china and i think korea

  • @beatrockas Korea my ass. Korean Culture was also Chinese. Both Korean and Japanese cultures were borrowed from China and eventually changed on their own.

  • @sgtodeath well korea took what they learned from china and brought it to japan you ignoramus

  • @beatrockas

You make a very valid comment.. but what is interesting, is everything that Japan has imported culturally they have really made their own, and beautifully naturalized into their own aesthetic.

A good example of this is music, If you compare Chinese and Japanese Koto music. Both are diverse traditions, but to generalize, Chinese is much more metallic, cheerful, bright, shining, immediate. Japan's koto is incredible depth, is more shadowed, subdued, transparent, open.. etc....
