geez where did every ones sense of humor go? bet you if it was any other company people would be ROFLing and quoting something from the video left and right.
@Cubbiesgal All good ads are extreme in order to break through the noise. Literal commercials don't grab attention. You obviously thought enough about this commercial to come to this video and post a comment. I'd say it got your attention.
Well this commercial is terrific, because it shows how Chevrolet drivers illegally park in no parking fire zones...Especially at a gas station where a fire could be a very hazardous situation...Well done Chevy
@amandel69 Yea, if there was a fire I would TOTALLY expect the fire truck to just pull right up into the center of the gas station... You're an idiot, use some common sense.
Terrible ad. Haven't these people ever heard of minding their own business? And the guy with the hybrid is annoying too in his own way. Honestly, I don't know how half of the commercials on TV get aired.
@Sotnas Most commercials are terrible today.. This one actually used some real world stereotypes and a pretty funny serious portrayal of the battle between the muscle car user and the cutting-edge consumer. Why are you confused. It was way better than over a million nameable commercials.
Good job GM. Make people feel awkward because they don't wanna buy gas. Don't believe the lies. This is not new technology. Ever heard of the EV1? Watch Who Killed the electric car.
I would have been like, What business is it yours to asking me why I am here at a gas station. :| I fucked your mom at one. That should be all the answers you must now. Gubment man. Bye!
What a dumbass commercial the little smartass punk should get knock up side his head. The father and the gas station attendent should get punch in the face hard.
@Marj675 It's pretty simple. It's a technique called "product negative". They show you that owning an electric car will make people think you are smug, which is actually something that their target market wants.
When you don't like or understand a commercial you have to remember that you might not be the target audience. It doesn't matter to a company if you don't understand their commercial when your not likely buy the product they are selling.
@DevLcL eh, I don't get your logic lol, I'm very interested in buy an electric car, but i'm not smug, so you are saying they base their commercials off of stereotypes? look, this is WHY people think this commercial is stupid, people go to gas stations for VARIOUS reasons, not JUST gas...hell the guy could have stopped to buy a hot dog or a drink, its just not clever thinking
@Marj675...The scene opens at a gas station with a man standing by his car as another man and a boy exit a building. The second man starts an exchange that eventually puts the 1st man on the defensive. The boy speaks up and says, "you know he's just here to use the bathroom." The clerk speaks into the mircophone and says, "customers only, no gas, no bathroom." Appearing defeated, man 1 says, "ok, I'll buy gas," and proceeds to the pump. The scene closes with a front end view of the product.
Seems to me that "mind your own f--ing business" would be a perfectly good response to "I thought these things were electric." I wouldn't waste five seconds of my time dealing with these idiots.
Great ad. This is the message GM needs to get out there re: The Volt. So many people believe it's a pure EV - but it's not limited by electricity - after it's charge is depleted it simply drives like a "normal car". Good job GM. Saving my money to buy one. Can't wait to be free of buying foreign oil - yet confident I won't get stranded by the side of the road like pure EVs do.
Not sure how well these two gas station commercials will be in selling Volts. What I primarily take from this is that I'm going to be hassled by idiots should I ever come near a gas station with a Volt. Sounds like fun! I'll write the check for $40k right now so I too can try and educate numbskulls at gas stations.
its hard to breathe in that cloud of smug....
