I am a black female video game player and I have also always wondered why there aren't many black female characters in video games. I can only think of Sheva Alomar, Rochelle (L4D2) and lisa (DOA) but I don't think it has to do with demographics because there are always white female characters and I know it can't be that many white girls playing video games. I wish they just show more ethnic characters instead of making the ethnic character a supporting character or nonexistent at all.
Sheva Alomar hands down is my favorite, but your point is valid bro. We need more brothers as lead characters! L4D 2 has a main character. Josh stone is my favorite video game character from RE 5 give him his own game. Peace
This being one huge thing I'm working on changing. I would list the names of all female playable characters, but its just fighting game cast which is to common to do. Aside from fighting games and games where you make the character I could only think of the women noted in the video.

Well I play mostly RPGs & there is usually an option to build your 'toon' in several skintones, DragonAge series for example has around 12 shades of skintone & a variety of hair styles, 1 like yours, other with large cornrows (see Sten from DA:O for hair ex).
But you are right. & while even black males are still a smaller demo. with games becoming more common all demos are growing everyday. & even IF 0 black girls play, others might like to be able to, like black men or anyone. Options Are Good

the problem in part is that there are no black/hispanic developers/artist that are catering to our people in games/movies/manga/comics. and the media market in large is about making characters/protagonist relatable to the main audience they are selling to (white middle class america). since they are the biggest consumers on the planet. that's why u will see asains make their characters look white at times. i was going the route of dev media for blacks once. maybe i'll go back to it one day.

@TarenReyem He specifically said PC's, but Redguards from the Elder Scrolls certainly qualify as you can play every race that's in the game (except maybe the Daedra, but there are always mods for that).
@TarenReyem because she's a creation of Marvel, spawned in the silver age of comics before she was even thought to be in a game. She's been in video games, yes, but did video game developers create her? Definitely not. She's a comic book character first. I equate it to including the Williams sisters because they were in some tennis games.

the main problem with lack of minorities in video games is lack of minority developers and people in the gaming industry. If we had more black people able to get into the VG industry we'd see more black people in video games, but I kinda know why black people dont hop into gaming like that

She's been in video games, yes, but did video game developers create her? Definitely not. She's a comic book character first. I equate it to including the Williams sisters because they were in some tennis games.

the main problem with lack of minorities in video games is lack of minority developers and people in the gaming industry. If we had more black people able to get into the VG industry we'd see more black people in video games, but I kinda know why black people dont hop into gaming like that
