"Your hospitals are almost all private, and they treat you only if you have a medical insurance."
Again, you are a very ignorant person. IN THE UNITED STATES, BY LAW, any person, whether they are rich or poor, whether they have insurance or they do NOT have insurance, MUST be treated in ANY emergency room. The US has the best health care system in the world. Adding government to it will lead to rationing, less research and development, and waiting lists for any surgeries.
@mjn76 in italy we say "aridagli", wich means that you don't get my point again. I'm not talking about emergency rooms.... gosh i'm sick of this thing... Just search differences between the 2 different health care systems on the internet.
Socialized health care is consistently a disaster regardless of the country, and only economic illiterates defend it. When a service is perceived as "free," more of that service is used. Where more of a service is used, costs rise, and the government must respond by lowering the number of doctors, nurses, and technicians it hires. Less equipment is purchased; less research is conducted.
Deficit spending is the solution,Keynes was right,the last 30 years of spending cuts in western economies have proven to be harmful and useful only for financial/criminal lobbies.........
this housewife (who, btw does not work) is whining about 2 hr wait for vaccines. Would she rather her child have polio....and she acts like these problems are not present in the US.
All those comment about italian health care that describe my country as a third world nation makes me think that in America the nation sport is to criticize everything it's not american.. First we have free health care, a really good health care because in fact according to WHO is the second best in the world!!
Second our life expectancy is 77.5 (male) 83.5 (female), and if we compeare it to USA (75.6m-80.8f), you'll understand that we live longer and better!!!
That's because in America, there is more violent death and people take more preventable risks such as narcotics use and have higher rates of obesity. You have to compare it apples to apples.
@Ipetratz We have obese people and drug-addicted people too: our rates are surely lower, but that because we spend more in prevention; a thing that an sick-people-driven.system doesn't include. Shouldn't that be a problem?
And that happens because US is a dramatically unequal society,nothing happens accidentally! Liberists and conservatorists always yell at drugs and stuff but dont' consider that unequal societies lead large parts of the population to desperation and drugs.....ask why scandinavian countries' people are considered to be the happiest on earth.....and yet they pay 40 % of their salaries in taxes!
@NumquamB Life is too short to debate with an ignorant and arrogant Marxist like yourself who understands nothing of the American people, American history, nor of basic economics. If you wish to live as a slave to the state, you are free exchange YOUR liberty for some benefits. As for myself and most of America, we will keep our God give liberty and reject interference from the state. You are a fool.
@efedones If you seriously believe that health care is "free," you are very naive and ignorant about this subject.
Morever, even if it was "free" (and it is not), nothing entitles you to the "free" labor and medical expertise of strangers. If you desire a good service of any kind, have the pride and decency to pay for it.
@mjn76 your comment is pointless. Healt care in Italy is free, of course you pay taxes to mantein it free. A lot less than US, where if you don't have medical insurence (idiot thing) you are elegible to die for a cold! Italians have the pride and decency to pay taxes for health care, so that even a poor people who can't pay could be saved if necessary. This is decency. Naive my ass, you are a fool, and that's why your country is destroyng the world economy. Grow up a little!
@smettzy Health care is not "free" in any country. If you have to pay taxes to support it, it's not "free." Secondly, in the United States, no one "dies for a cold." (Sai parlere inglese MOLTO bene!) Any person, regardless of insurance, is treated in ANY emergency room. If Italians had pride and decency, they would purchase their own insurance instead of expecting strangers to pay their bills. My country isn't "destroying the world economy." Blame Obama and the Democrat Party for that.
@mjn76 ok let's make this clear: EVERY ITALIAN HAVE ACCES TO NATIONAL HEALTH CARE! Paying taxes, we are paying the National health care system. I make it even simplier for you: we have 64% of fiscal pressure on what we earn with work for social services such as public trasportation, health care etc. What "stranger" is paying the bill for an italian tax payer? The difference is that once you pay your annual tax, if you are trated in a public hospital you don't have to pay anything else.
@mjn76 public hospitals are excellent, second only to French public hospitals. Your hospitals are almost all private, and they treat you only if you have a medical insurance. Wich cover almost anything, and poor people who cannot afford it they simply don't get treated. What I see here is selfishness, nothing more, and you dare to say that we make others pay our bills?? Get lost!
@efedones Yeah? How's your government doing now? Is your economy stable or unstable? Is your government in debt? How much in debt? This is what you don't understand. Your "Free" healthcare is not free, it's paid for by the taxes you pay, and when the government spends for your "free" healthcare (and other things of course) and doesn't have enough tax money to keepit up, the economy collapses.
@sweatyshorts ahahahah! soverreign debt crysis is something every country in this world should fear, as yours as well! Euro debt crysis is not just an European crysis and you'll soon see it for yourself! It's our country who is paying for now the bid of being completely ruled by stupid financial system ( with Wall street at the rudder)
@francescaleone Don't be sorry for your English. Be sorry for your very naive belief that your government "take care of me." You government does not "take care" of anything. Government desires power and it accumulates power for itself while it takes away your liberty. You are uninformed if you think otherwise.
I don't want to convince you,the fact that US is the most unequal economy in the western is a rock sound evidence and over time people get tired of the increasing inequalities,be aware of that,somethin's gonna change in WS.
I dont' hate America,i think American are genuine and naive people,thing is you are brainwashed since childhood with the "Land of opportunities" or "Anybody could be rich" bullshits.....Wake the fuck up,it's a matter of WE,the peope, and THEY (the lobbies)......
That was a report from 2000 that was widely discredited because it relied on government statistics. WHO was also distortive in the categories in which it claims countries performed well since it includes Universal coverage, doctor-patient ratio etc, which is irrelevant to the crux of the issue.
Having visited Italy countless times and suffering a ski accident there I can tell you that the hospitals are atrocious, but I'll concede that's anecdotal
She says "i didnt work i just raised our two kids"
This dumb bitch has no F#*$*% CLUE!!!!
She had to wait in line to get care, How freakin terrible
those of us in America who can't be gold digging whores work, long hours pay bundles of dollars for crappy coverage we hope will cover us should our children need it.
In America we let people die because insurance profits are more important!!!
@Paramedic851 now people are going to work long hours and have it forcefully taken away from you to subsidize other people who don't work including illegals. Now we are going to let old people die who have cancer who worked their whole lives in order to salvage quality health care. on top of that, doctors are going to suffer and businesses who make 200,000 are already beginning to suffer because now they are being taxed in order for this to be enforced which will drive up prices.
@Paramedic851 saying that you are productive and work long hours then condemn inssurance companies that work long hours is a direct contradict because it's people who work long hours as you say that provide products, luxuries and services to other people not the government which does not produce a God damn thing and is not as efficient as the private sector. You know how the government is going to provide healthcare? by taking it forcefully from someone who works like you.
@Brettwbeyer14 Speaking of efficiency: The US are spending almost 15% of their total spending for healthcare, while every other country of the "civilized" word spend an average of 7%. Still, life expectancy in the US is two year less (on an average) of those.
I love to bait my leftist friends. They seem almost sane until you question AlGore's Apocalyptic Rantings, point out how Socialism is destroying national economies all over the world, ask why totalitarians call themselves "liberals" , or wonder out loud why the modern pseudo-liberal is so absolutely intolerant of other points of view (more so than any conservative I've met). Then stand back AND WATCH THE FIREWORKS!
@ExtraGarlicNow Honestly Right Wing Policies are destroying the Global Economies. When Bush was in office the economy blew up in his face which started a global recession and near depression. We don't live in a socialist country, but the one socialist country that was doing great, Yugoslavia went into ethnic cleansing cause another Neo-Liberal president George H.W. Bush decided to make right wingers start a revolution there. They used to have a higher standard of living than Americans even.
@ExtraGarlicNow But our Republican ruling elite thought it'd be nice to open up their markets to us or really the Fortune 500 companies that finance that party. See just cause a president is more active doesn't make him more authoritarian than a "Small Government" president. When Bush said "You're either with us or you're with the terrorists," that's almost classic totalitarianism. Thought crime almost. Actually since the media is owned buy companies and not people it is.
@ExtraGarlicNow They're now trying to do away with NPR and PBS, the Republicans. Those and non-profit radio are the only things not run by corporate. Even Borders is filing for bankruptcy because Kindle is moving to destroy physical books. Whatever you say about the government being in your healthcare, but even Milton Friedman decided he didn't like the third party/insurance companies running the show. Honestly I feel freedom is participation in power. What does my opinion matter? Oh well.
This woman is full of shit and Levin is a pussy that hides behind the disconnect button on the radio.

Just a few words...
- If the husband of the lady paid a lot of taxes, is because he earned a lot of money. Taxes in Italy are related to the income;
- If you have to pass a day in the hospital to vaccinate a kid, you are PAID if you take a personal day from work;
- If you go to a private doctor, and have to pay, you can discharge the payment from taxes;
- Even who can't pay taxes (ex. unemployed, unable to work) is still covered;
