@danthemanpatrick So look at this vid and you'll see the fuel backing up on itself and forming a "cloud" inbetween the intake valve closing and opening. The title is "Banc V10 Renault".
@ danthemanpatrick You should search for "F1 engines on the dyno" or "F1 engine fuel injectors". It will amaze you how much fuel is spraying out of those injectors when their at full duty cycle. When the view is across the top of the engine, right above the throttle butterfly valve, the fuel spraying in forms a little "cloud" when the intake valve downstream is closed, then the airstream sucks the "cloud" in when said intake valve opens up. The result in real-time is amazing.
I used to have this set-up on my computer as the sound for the alarm clock. Everytime I heard it, I stayed in bed, thinking about ALL THE THINGS that are happening in a motor that's turning at 17K rpm's (or more). And imagining how the process of ''internal combustion'' can even take place at those speeds, much less how to inhale, compress, ignite, and exhale when the pistons, at their apogee/perigee, weigh a couple of tons each...needless to say, I was late to work alot.
Does anyone know what that thing is that's on top of the engine in the photo? The thing that looks like a rail of injectors? These engines have direct injection, right? So that can't be the injector rail & injectors. My guess is that it is a system that gives the intake-air a flow of pure oxygen so that the charge going into the engine has a LOT of oxygen in it. This would oxidize the mixture, allowing effective combustion in the cylinders at 21,500 RPM. Any thoughts?
@TheMR2V6 Alright. Well, my best guess would be that they would store the oxygen supply in a high-pressure tank located somewhere in the the side-pods. My reasoning for this stems from my knowledge that there are highly pressurized tanks of gas (CO2 probably) kept in the side pods to actuate the pneumatic valve train. Also, I would have guessed that F1 engines utilized direct fuel injection, but I guess that was probably against the rules when this engine was being used.
@japrantte Faz como eu: Opção no telefone GRAVAR e coloca as colunas do computador próximas ao telefone quase no máximo. Depois transferes o ficheiro de gravação para toques. Selecciona como toque e já está! Fica um espectáculo. Abraço e curte as chamadas.
I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and tank clean and rustfree

I mean how rediculous is the engines now revving at these speeds,
and you cant start then without a silly laptop PC?

@danthemanpatrick Those are fuel injectors! Your theory about oxygen injection is off. Because where would they store so many oxygen?
