Chris Byrd Vs. Evander Holyfield Rounds 11 & 12

This was the fight that the 40-year-old Holyfield should have realized the gig is up. He had slowed a lot and was not prepared to go to war, except for the odd flurry. Byrd realized this by R2 and showed him no respect after that. Ironically, this was the last win for Byrd against a 'name' fighter, but he looked good only because Holyfield was old and slow. Holyfield was never hurt and had energy at the end, but too little to late. I have it 117-111 Byrd, with Holy winning only 1,11 and 12.

What a great rally by Holyfield, how can you not root for the guy? He is like 40 years old here, even tho he is a dirty bastard at times, Holyfields warrior spirit is something to admire

Byrd won most of the rounds,but best punches are of Holyfield.

guys, tyson is over since his fight against Buster Douglas, he lost his fights against holyfield and crushed by leenox early in the fight. this "byrd" would crushed tyson early him in the fight, cause tyson without his punch cannot boxing with his head, with his heart .

That's true I see Byrd winning by a KO in the 7th round against Prime Holyfield because Holyfield never use to run as much, but he would rather trade!

Moorer got ko in 28secs by Tua in 2002, just after Byrd beat Tua! Although Moorer beat Holyfield and Holyfield beat Bowe, I still never rated Moorer soo high! Lewis was good, but was beaten by the Old Holyfield, Byrd was in another league!

@evol121 I think a prime Byrd Clowns on a prime Holyfield. Byrd is an all time great. He fought usually 35 lbs lighter than mmost of his foes

MM beat holy on a night holy tore his shoulder and had heart/breathing problems, they found his left ventrical had a alignment...a 35 year old holy knocked mm down 5 times in the rematch. i respect the record books show byrd won...if i fought marvin haglar today the book would show i won the fight lol. just my opin mate

hollyfield was beat souindly by the byrd yeh holyfield was 40 but he always kept himself in top shape even while not training for a fight and he never had 3 and a half years off like ali and 4 and a half years off like tyson if a 26 yearold ali fights a 26 yearold hollyfield he would have gave him a boxing lesson he never would have forgotten

An amazing number of people have injured their shoulders against Byrd, eg. Holyfield, Golota, Klitschko etc. I think his style, which makes his opponents miss wildly, caused a lot of shoulder injuries.

@Myndir I noticed alot during this fight, Byrd targeted his jab at Holyfields shoulder. He was targeting the jab at all area's from the waist up, he has really good accuracy.

The loss to Byrd was the right way for Holyfield to retire, Evander was already 40 yrs old here, I recall he injured his arm somewhere in the second round of this fight, holyfield didnt have to lose to Toney, Donald, Sultan Igragimov and Valuev had he call it quits in 2002.
