  • thats what the japs get for tourturing and putting the heads of americans on sticks. i would show no mercy to any of the japs if they did that to one of my friends

  • History channel should have little mini maps on the screen.

  • Great doco thx for posting.

  • just 900 troops? americans were like in thousands on Guadalcanal

  • @rahulbond3m Throughout most of the battle the number of Japanese troops was roughly equal to the number of American troops. Supply became their biggest problem and cost them the island.

  • unbelievable what japanese soldiers were educated and trained to do and Hell they did it

  • The reason Japanese charged that way into battle is because this was their first time into battle with the US. They had used the same tactics in other countries like China and the Philippines. Unfortunately for them, the US were not severely outdated in weapons and tactics as the Asian countries were. Of course there is also that bushido code that the Japanese believed in.

  • WORST JAPANESE ACCENT EVER!!! LOL!!!

  • The japs were inferior fighters, they relied on fear during battles thus the banzai attacks. Problem is that only worked against chinese conscripts not WELL TRAINED AMERICANS. Only chance the japs ever had was on the defensive.

  • @Arelak they werent inferior japan just simly could not match the massive industrial power of America during world war 2 japan produced enough amo for every soldier to have 150 pounds each, america on the other hand produced enough for each soldier to have 200 pounds every 3 days and plus many people dont know this but japans main oil supply came from america so when america cut off the supply japan had enough oil only for 17 more months after pearl harbor

  • @dlMrINSPECTORlb That is called being inferior... When your power equals less than your opponent your forces are called inferior.

We cut off their oil supply due to the rape of Nanking and it was a damn good thing we cut them off too. Pearl harbor could been been prevented quite easily since we had radar stations there. No matter what they say, you do NOT see 300+ geese in battle formation going over 150MPH STRAIGHT AT your only naval base.

  • @Arelak How was that good? I mean yes we had radar, but still it started war between us.

  • @prodigiousbastard Depending on if you are a jap or not, go ask your monarchy not me, they started the war by attacking pearl harbor. You could start with the invasion of korea and china followed by the rape of nanking where US foreign missionaries were almost executed by the japs for keeping records of what they were doing and also pictures.

Anyway, just go ask some questions and you will get your answers and it has nothing to do with the USA starting it.

  • @Arelak Okay apparently you didn't read my comment thoroughly. I was asking why was it good to embargo them, it just started war between us. Also, did I say that the USA started it?

  • @prodigiousbastard Look up "Rape of Nanking" the USA rightfully began an oil, steel and coal embargo against the japs because of what they were doing to the chinese, rapists being rapists and axe murderers as well... Retaliated and then lost the war. Too bad the USA did not finish the job though, should have taken one nuke and nuked fucking hojobabyraperpedophile off his throne.

  • @Arelak Yes I know what the Rape of Nanking is but it probably wasn't worth the war.

  • @prodigiousbastard Yes it was ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT! You MUST draw the line against evil somewhere, if you REFUSE to draw the line when they are RAPING BABIES, BURNING THEM ALIVE and using them as BAYONET practice and even FILMING IT and taking PICTURES... Yet you refuse to do anything... Well then you have lost all MORALS AND ETHICS.

Lines have to be drawn somewhere and America drew the line. Too bad people have lost their morals and ethics to the point that what is named above is now ok.

  • @Arelak Thank you thats all I wanted.

  • In hind sight I’m not so smug.

Savo Island cost America big-big bucks in destroyed Capital Ships and over a thousand dead sailors, for virtually no loss to the IJN. With imperial sea control Henderson may be blown to bits every night, Japan could reinforce at will at night, and the Marines could be bombarded with impunity.

  • I Watch all my Episodes HD

    at : TV[.]Usnetxxx[.]com

  • I Watch allmy Episodes at TV[.]Usnetxxx[.]com

  • if they choped american heads,i want those responsible tojo ass shoved on bombs!

  • great tactics used by the japs, charge at enemy machine guns, tanks, and 37mm guns yelling BANZI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 2:15 They had SuDoKu back then?

  • Smart tactics japs, very smart.

  • is Schmitt...the one they talk about in the movie on cable The Pacific...does anybody know if this is who they are talking about

  • @onefugowie no its john baselone

  • awesome battle tactic: charge onto machinegun fire. no wonder we won.

  • @simmy0987

    lol

  • @simmy0987 It was 1 bad Colonel. Several IJA junior officers summed up the situation, and suggested a more deliberate battle after they came off worse for wear on the initial crossing of swords.. Their Colonel, forced them into several Ad Hoc assaults, that destroyed his force.

  • Japs are dumb. They chop up POWs and mutilate dead enemy, then wonder why marines never took prisoners. Uh duh.

  • suck it Japs

  • @bengals101 ? your about 7 decades behind the times bengie.

  • 1:20

    : 0

  • Damn! He said "I'll tell ya, We carved em up" lmao! that's some hardcore shit.

  • This film covers what Dad called the Battle of the Tenaru better than any others I have seen. Dad manned a 37mm anti-tank gun during the battle of the Ilu. He mentioned many times about using canister and that the gun was mounted up on a sand bank above the sand spit. He believed that helped a great deal since this canister round was not generally as effective as it was in this situation.

  • stupid japs.

  • did the americans use the 75mm pack howitzer at guadalcanal?

  • yes they did

  • So no, Schmid did not change hot barrels with his bare hands - the M1917 Browning kept firing despite losing its cooling jacket because its rate of fire and small caliber (.30) was insufficient to completely overheat it. Schmid, Diamond, and Rivers were all equally heroic but the latter are forgotten in racist America. Rivers did not even receive the Navy Cross he deserved (along with Diamond and Schmid).

  • I'm gonna trust the guy who was there over you buddy.

  • Boy these shows are running low on credibility. Schmid was not firing an air-cooled gun, he was firing a water cooled WWI era Browning which had its jacket penetrated. His loaders were not both killed, and nether received credit because one was a Jew and the other an Indian. The latter, Rivers, was killed while the former, Diamond, was only wounded.

Also - why have the Japanese part spoken in English with a lisp? All that is missing is buck teeth and round glasses.

  • My grandfather mentioned something abot them slaughtering a cow they found there-was a big find. Could have been on Pelilu though..

  • Go Marines you show those cocky japanese.

  • You may shoot them, but don't mutilate their bodies or execute POWs. Well the Japanese did one better, they even raped and executed civilians...even Caucasians (British and Dutch) in Hong Kong, Indonesia and Singapore.

  • why dead men tell no tales, plus they attaked us at pearl for no reason before we were even involved, it makes no difference anyway look at the way they treated us, stupid japs, semper fi

  • @anthonykirsch, if you wanna show true hate for the japanese, call the nips..

  • @mehdan2 Then there was the Rape of Nanking. Jesus, man oh man. What the Hell was that for?

  • yes the rampant stupidity of "bamboo spear" tactics.

  • not bamboo spear, katanas and bayonet charge. But I do agree that those were prett stupid

  • These are fucking GREAT videos. Keep them coming!!

  • "it infuriated us. we'll do em one better, and we did. ill tell ya, we carved em up." .....damn. stupid japanese definatley brought it upon theselves

  • You realize, of course, he means "carve them up" literally ... right?

  • ......yes...I do. What the hell else would it mean?

  • "Carve up" can also mean splitting up ranks with machinegun fire. He means literally cutting them with bayonets and committing other atrocities. You don't find that a little ... unsettling?

  • Yes I find it unsettling...it's war. Everything about war is unsettling.

  • OK, your original comment made it seem like you had no problem with committing atrocities. "Stupid Japanese definitely brought it upon themselves" ... I think that sort of reduces the complexity of the war.

  • As in, the Japanese brought it upon themselves. As in, the Japanese pissed the Marines and GI's off enough that they did these things. Get it?

  • So, what you're saying is, if someone pisses you off, you have the right to commit war crimes?

  • I'm not condoning it! God damn. Are you TRYING to be annoying?

  • No, you're just not being clear. To be fair, it's a complicated issue. "War is hell," but not everyone elects to be a demon.

  • So, you are calling them demons?

  • Actually, sometimes they called themselves that. If you read diary accounts from that period, many marines felt themselves and their comrades had become inhuman. It's one of the costs of war--what it makes you become.

  • Did they choose to become inhuman? Or was it war itself that drove them to be inhuman?

  • That's exactly why I said it is "complex." There's no single answer. Some people, though, were apparently inclined to be extremely violent, and others abhorred it. It was true for the Japanese armed forces, as well. I don't think it's accurate, though, to say that US marines were completely "forced" to torture prisoners and shoot POWs. Like I said, it's complicated, if not simply because they're basically psychologically damaged by the war. Have you seen "Let There Be Light"?

  • "but not everyone elects to be a demon. "

As in, they didn't have to be war criminals. Even though "war crime" seems redundant to me. Shouldn't war itself be considered a "crime" ? And no, I have not seen it. All I know is that no matter how many movies I watch, or books I read, or veterans I talk too, I won't understand the mental strain of a man in war, until I've been there myself.

  • Some people would say so, but I don't think every war is criminal. Finland's defense of its sovereignty from 1939-1945 was hardly a "criminal" act in my book. I'm fairly comfortable with the Geneva Convention's definition of what constitutes criminal behavior during war.

On another note, I hope, for your sake, you never "understand the mental strain of a man in war." Check out "Let," it's a 1946 doc of WWII vets trying to overcome trauma. Essential viewing. Another cost of war.

  • Finland was defending themselves from enemies wishing to take their land...Finland acted in self defense, so it isn't a crime, however, they wouldn't have had to had the Soviets not tried to kick them out. I'd say that was a crime on the Soviets part. War is a crime against humanity.

  • Generally I agree that war is criminal, but it's just unrealistic to expect people not to organize in self-defense. Ironically, Stalin believed invading Scand WAS in self-defense against a future Nazi invasion. If you go to the Blockade Museum in St Petersburg, they're still regurgitating that piece of Soviet propaganda, I'm afraid.

  • War is a necessary evil.

  • its funny that u guys are going at it so much

  • i guess some people feel very strongly about it...nuthing wrong with that, especially when its history ;D

  • the USSR invaded Finland because they wanted it back... and the Finns kicked there ars... Hardly 2.500.000 communists died in the finnish winter

  • @CaptainAmerica322 Yeah I didn't expect to hear that. That ruled.

  • Yes I stand corrected. Milne Bay is correct. As for atrocities. Please don't forget what was done to the Commonwealth forces captured as well. Canibalism, tying men up for bayonet practice etc. What is astaonishing is how they also treated their own men. Read up on how they trained and treated each other during basic training and war fighting. I am not being their advocate, but they thought nothing to be savage towards each other, imagine what how they would treat the Allied oppostion.

  • So the Japs committed atrocities on the Marines, and the Marine code was born. They have only themselves to blame.

  • Midway is the turning point of the Pacific Theatre. Twenty minutes and four sunk Japanese Aircraft Carriers. The Japanese Army was lost without its support from the Japanese Navy. Don't forget the Aussies at Kokoda and Milne who first stopped the Japanese Army on land and pushed them back. Fact acknowledged by both British and American military sources.

  • That would the Battle of Milne Bay, correct?

  • orahh marine corps!!

  • Yes! God bless the Marine Corps!

  • Ty for uploadin :D
