  • Must admit, this looks pretty awesome!

  • didnt see the original, but i sure like this. wish it got made.

  • The flash animation isn't so hot and I don't like the character designs like, at all. It's too bad, I love Wacky Races and it would be neat for there to be a new incarnation of such a classic, but I'm glad this wasn't picked up.

  • wheres the army sir plus & wheres the Mobs?

  • I would very much prefer to keep the old cartoons that were not so blatantly desperate to target a specific profile of audience. Forcing things this way makes a series turn into a consumable, a simple product destined to fade away. That, and the fact that everything is competing for attention in each cell... learn from the classics and relearn taste, color and hierarchy!

  • @ThisEuropeanLife

    in other words, more stock-footage?

  • I do kind of have to admit, I'm glad this wasn't picked up. Sander Schwartz had a terrible habit of ruining the classics when he was president at Warner Bros. Animation (look at "What's New Scooby-Doo" or the 2003 Looney Tunes shorts like "The Whizzard of Ow" or "Museum Scream" to see what I mean!)

Now that he's gone, maybe this show would've been better?

  • One thought: the major reason the old cartoon worked was because, all in all, it was really "about" Dick Dastardly and Muttley; they got more screentime than anyone else. The WRF pilot didn't work because it took the focus away from those two and made the show "about" other stuff.

  • I think this would be better shown on the Internet if it's not going to work for television. I think it's a really good idea, but I do think it needs a little improvement.

  • So, let me get this straight... Peter Perfect and Penelope Pitstop have been replaced with bratty teenagers in a futile attempt to make the show seem more extreme, the Slag brothers can now talk, and Dick dastardly and Muttley have an evil boss? ...I think my childhood just disembowled itself with a cheeseknife... still, at least Professor Patpending made me chuckle a bit. He so crazy.

  • @Cheeseaddicteddaleks

Actually, the slag brothers talk in other episodes. one says "wheel gone" in episode 17. it's on youtube.

  • it feels weird to say this.... but i really liked it :D

  • Reminder that we got johnny test instead of this

  • You mean a boring, poorly animated Hanna-Barbera cartoon from the 70's didn't get a cheaply animated Flash cartoon whose only pulling factor is nostalgia? I'm simply baffled!

  • @peckenhamm123 "Boring, poorly animated"? Wacky Races was a cool, funny show. Definitely a classic cartoon. I don't see why you'd say that.

  • plus the style of the proposed wacky races revival should have the animation style of krypto the superdog animated series and the wii video game what do you think?

    (continue in next comment)

  • @warningfellow I think those are really good suggestions and maybe Cartoon Network can do something about that (if they want to that is).

Plus, I got some ideas for this series too. I was thinking Viceroy could bring in a group of his own racers and try to deter the Wacky Racers off and better his chance to take over Perfect Industries. One of the racers happens to be named Sylvester Sneakly (descendant) aka The Hooded Claw who has a grudge against Piper Perfect.

  • @DynamoCrimson Well DynamoCrimson its nice but there is a problem my version will not have this viceroy corporation, will not have his racers to demolish wacky racers and will not have this perfect industries plot thing, this idea of mine will stay true to the original series although the Penelope marrying to peter perfect stays.

  • @warningfellow I know, I know. I have nothing against your version whatsoever. I was only thinking up ideas as well and they weren't meant to get in the way.

  • "the new buzzwagon 9" will be driven by a canadian lumberjack (modern like) with sidekick a beaver.

and finally the new Mean Machine 00 will be driven by the teenaged son of dick dastardly with his sidekick who is the son of muttley they are evil like their fathers although their fathers command to cheat and like their father they lose and get painful hurtings in the end.

    (continue in next comment)

  • the new Army Surplus Special 6 will be driven by a new sergeant (not meekly) with his new private,He is commanded by the now general blast.

the new Bulletproof Bomb 7 will be driven by a italian mobster and his sidekick a black rapper who almost annoys him.

the new Arkansas Chuggabug 8 will be driven by a rodeo cowboy and his sidekick a bull who has the same characteristics as the original drivers Luke and Blubber Bear

  • Its not EXTREME ENOUGH

  • oh my god this is fucking awesome

  • ...yeah, it looks kinda awesome but I can see why this didn't get picked up, it strikes me as losing a lot of the charm of the original- as cheap and stock as it was, the show had a real campy charm with the racers being relatively sporting and polite to each other even when things got rough. And the announcer, they can't go without the announcer.

Funny that Peter Perfect and Penelope Pitstop got married, but I don't know how pushing a plotline with their kids would go. They seem like brats.

  • ...did they just bring up the possibility of cheating on a kids' show?

Bit too 'extreme' I think, shit that like probably didn't help.

  • instead of the Crimson Haybailer it will be replaced by a jet plane like car jet rider 4 where it will be driven by a character loosely based on the top gun character maverick.

The plot of peter perfect marrying penolpe stays but the siblings will be driving in the same car called "compact terrific 5" it will be driven by their daughter while sidekick is her 10 year old sibling brother who wants to drive.

    (continue in next comment)

  • a new Creepy Coupe 2 will be driven by the apprentices of the original drivers of the creepy coupe a teenage goth female vampire and her partner who is the hunchback.

the new Convert-a-Car 3 should be driven by the grandson of Professor Pat Pending (who will have a white beard old and wiser not a madman) who is a boy genius.

    (continue in next comment)

  • you know the pilot is nice but it needs improvement then it should have been a good series for example yes there might be the new generation of wacky races to revive but every old characters should be replaced by new ones (although they will couch them as racing instructors)

eg-a new bouldermobile 1 like car will be driven by a tarzan like man with his sidekick a chimp

  • WHY?!

    WHY WAS THIS NOT FUNDED?!

  • Please CN. I NEED THIS.

  • Cool

  • "No Muttley, we can't win fairly! We are villains, ergo we have to cheat"

Sums up my feelings about the original series. He gets far enough ahead to set up those traps but instead of just winning he fucks himself over.

That being said, this is well done, but it doesn't even feel like a pilot. This feels like one of those shorts CN would use to fill time between shows.

  • So Peter Perfect and Penelope Pitstop hooked up.....

  • How many snakes had to die for this ridiculous race?

  • This gets dropped...but Adventure Time and Regular show get picked up?

    ...

  • This looks like something out of Family Guy.

Let's just pretend this never happened.

  • With a bit of work and some more new/old characters, this would have brought a lot of joy to a lot of people.

  • Is that "Come On" by Andy Hunter I heard in the background? Oh my! Glorious. 83

  • I NEED THIS MUSIC! I NEED IT!

  • that looks really good too :(

  • Now I know who's main character material.

Two new-age siblings, two old cartoonish villains.

  • This show never got picked up? Yet MY GYM PARTNER'S A MONKEY DID? MY GOD, CARTOON NETWORK'S ORIGINAL SHOWS SUFFERED THANKS TO THAT PIECE OF CRAP JAKE! THANK GOD FOR REGULAR SHOW AND ADVENTURE TIME. Maybe one day, Wacky Races will come back. After all, Thundercats 2011 has been well received

  • It's made out of snakes ! Holy shit.

  • My opinion: If handled properly, this could have been picked up and been done pretty well. The character designs I didn't mind and I actually quite liked the idea of the children of some of the racers while still including the original ones. I just think they if they stuck with simply racing and avoided any sort of deep plot, it could have been handled well.

  • DEXTER'S DAD!!!

I think I recognized every voice here except for Dick Dastardly. He sounded like a cross between Tigger and the Joker.

  • @Evilgood1 thats because it is jim cummings the guy who played the 90's tigger

  • WHY IS THIS NOT A CARTOON!?! ARE THE EXECUTIVES STUPID, DEAF, AND BLIND AT THE SAME TIME!?!?!?!?! also dick doesn't sound like Tigger... that much anyway.

  • voice of Tigger from Winnie The Pooh voicing Dick Dastardly?

    No No No!

  • Dick sounds like Tigger

  • They went about this all wrong. They should've just upgraded the old racers and take on the old way only this time more clever and international. This pilot is just presenting the obvious would-be boys and girls toy marketing ploy. No wonder it never got picked up. (I like the music though)

  • The terrible animation really cuts down on the enjoyment of the show. When you look worse then Johnny Test, something is very wrong with your animators and artists (as Johnny Test has some of the laziest animation in recent memory.

I see why Cartoon Network passsed on this. It's decent, but not worthy of a series, and I loved the original when I was child.

  • @Saraphiel The poor animation is because it's a pilot. Pilots don't have the budgets of full episodes and usually look unpolished or incomplete.

  • is that Tim Curry?

  • I would love to see Dick Dastardly making a comeback... :c

  • And this isn't on the air because...?

  • I've started a petition to help convince Cartoon-Network to allow it to be aired and just PM me if you want the address.

  • Is that a wedge of cheese?

This show would have been so awesome show.

  • THe perfect dude sounds like ratchet from ratchet and clank, and his dad sounds like quark.

  • 3:32 - A great example of how the old show was. Dick Dastardly could win most of the races seeing as how is was always ahead of the other racers but he chooses to try and mess things up.

  • I nostalgia'd...

  • I do hope they find a more Paul Winchell-esque voice for Dastardly, Jim Cummings just isn't right for the part.

  • The new Gruesome Twosome look amazing! Not sure about the new Pat Pending...

  • I like this. It reminds me of Wacky Racers meets Speed Racer. The animation looks a tad cheap at some points, but apart from that it seemed like they were going in the right direction. I like that they kept it wacky and cartoony (Dastardly, Muttley, tunnel made of snakes, etc) and didn't just go 100% anime style like a lot of the other cartoons at the time.

  • ahaha Parker reminds me of Fred from Scooby Doo

  • They could have t least made this a mini movie or something....

  • the groosm toosm really got great kids :D

  • Fuck you Cartoon Network.

  • Ilike the original better too, but...We need t bring them back, somehow.

And that would have been an epic way to do so.

...Or a 2-hours-long movie. Which should be funny.

  • This show would be alright, especially with the ant hill mob and the red max.

  • hey guys i know that the voices of the cararacters dick dastardly is voiced by jim cummings and that peter perfect is voiced by jeff bennet his son voiced by james arnold taylor that guy with the bald head voiced by jeff bennet and i love the animation warner brothers animation rocks spike brandit and tony cervone you guys rock

  • personally, i like the original better.

  • Wack Races would make a great movie!

  • where is the great red max

  • @TheSitDownCommedian And the Ant-Hill Mob. God damn you Cartoon Network!

  • @Evan121991 Right? :D

  • ....damn you, Cartoon Network.

  • Man, Pat Pending's descendant sure is a dick.

  • @JanitorAntisocial Or maybe it is Pat Pending himself.

  • @YaoiHuntressEarth

Man, that makes it even worse, considering how amiable he seemed in the original.

  • I like the idea of Peter and Penelope marrying and their kids competing with each other. Shame they didn't show more of the characters.

  • well may Dastardly can finely catch the pigeon now ?

  • i recall wacky races was mostly spent showing dick dastardly & his plots to win

  • I think the reason this wasn't picked up was down to the fact that Dastardly doesn't sound Dastardly enough when he's voiced by Tigger.

  • Perfect/Pitstop OTP!

  • This was an awesome idea. They should totally make a series out of this.

  • I also love that Pat Pending is insane in this series.

Real shame it never got picked up.

  • @ilikethecoke It really works for his character.

  • Jim Cummings as Dick Dastardly? That's fits surprisingly well.

  • Check out the hood of Piper Pitstop-Perfect's ride and tell me if you don't see a Speed Racer tribute on the bonnet...not to mention Parker's spiked-wheel ascent up the cliff (to quote Go Mifune, "been there done that")

  • Check out the hood of Piper Pitstop-Perfect's ride and tell me if you don't see a Speed Racer tribute on the bonnet

  • I'm sure there's a perfectly good reason this wasn't picked up to be an actual series... but the only one I can think of is "The world is a cold, hopeless, unforgiving place devoid of joy and beauty."

  • @Devilot109 It's a shame, it could've been a good series.

  • @Devilot109 Clearly its because Cartoon Network doesn't like to make money

  • @Devilot109 Most likely. Thanks alot for posting this. I used to watch WR on CN during the 90s, and it's still one of Hanna-Barbera's best cartoons. If they had done this, it would have been the first good new CN show since... Jonny Bravo or Powerpuff Girls (whichever came last)! P.S., Dick dastardly is still cheating. He managed to get a dozen different youtube accounts in his name, and is responsible for all the thumbs down for this. If you get anymore dislikes, you'll know who to blame.

  • @Devilot109 I think that it was because it was poorly compared to the original as it was too hype and agressive compered to the original series, better to not do a bad idea than a good one.

  • i wouldve liked to see the offspring of the anthill mob!

  • @abtsadiemaekole

i also miss bluke & blubber bear

  • @RurouniJackson I KNOW, RIGHT!?!?

  • @abtsadiemaekole

but thay may have put them in later , who knows

  • @RurouniJackson totally, after all this is just the pilot

  • @RurouniJackson

    sorry

  • @abtsadiemaekole For some reason I could see them posing as their own descendants (and not doing a good job of it) to throw off the cops chasing them (they escaped from jail.)

  • this wouldve made an awesome show!

  • Jim Cummings ad Dick Dasterdly? Why didn't this get made?

  • Why the Hell didn't they make more of this?!

  • Animation isn't all too good to be honest.

  • @mrsquaredot Well, it's a pilot...

  • Im about to get "snaked" AAAAHHHH~

    Lol :))

  • AWESOME!

  • Dick Dastardly sounds like Mark Hamill. Does anyone know who voiced Dick here?

  • @altoPR That's definitely Jim Cummings' voice.

  • And to think, they chose Johnny Test over this. Think about that.

  • @Xelna1138 I know. (sigh) so sad

  • @Xelna1138 Because crap will overcome quaility.

  • Why didn't they take the idea on? Why didn't they just SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY?!

  • The only thing missing, if you ask me, is the Anthill Mob. If you could've worked in references to the Hooded Claw, then it'd be perfect.

  • at least they kept the famous Don Messik Muttley laugh

  • So let me get this straight: Cartoon Network picks up other cartoons that turn out to be confusing, brain-cell killing pieces of shit, like "Gumball," but when something this cool comes along that has potential, they decide it's not good enough and don't greenlight a series? What, do these idiots also work with Fox Network?

  • @Bluegirl285 Wait wait wait, you think Gumball is confusing? O mah gawd, you're stupid.

  • @Bluegirl285 Then again, CN has a bit of a habit of picking up crap these days.

  • what the hell happend to Pat Pending? did one his inventions fail and drive him insane?

  • would have work as a show

  • So the high-octane race cars driving over them doesn't wake the snakes up, but an old-fashioned alarm clock does?

    I'm so confused, but enthralled!

  • Wasn't bad until Piper turned out to be a ditz and Parker turned out to be an arrogant twat. Then seeing as they seemed to be central it kinda ruined the whole thing.

I suppose Peter and Penelopes' old styles of honourable gentleman and elegant lady are too old fashioned...

  • I just love that line Dick Dastardly said at 3:40 - "We are villians, ergo we have to cheat!"

  • Ahaha! Penelope Pitstop and Peter Perfect got bizzay!

  • This would've been awesome.

  • This is great. It's only loaded a few seconds and it's already awesome.

There needs to be a Wacky Races live action movie. They had Speed Racer, why not Wacky Races?

  • @Min027 Fun Fact: there WAS gonna be one of those, it just never happened.

  • @LinkandRutofan yep.

  • They should replace dick dastardly with like a teenager who plays by his own rules or something, what do you think?

  • @182supermario You know like that blue haired, anime like villain character, from "Dexter's Laboratory", you know who I'm talking about, right?

  • @182supermario Oh, yes, that character would be perfect, good, let's go with that.

  • @182supermario Nah, Dick dastardly and Muttley should stay the way they are. Why tamper with perfection?

  • @mecampbellesq I know, they're good (in popularity), but don't you think they're getting uhh... old?

  • It's just not the same without that music.

  • This would have been incredible. Too bad they didn't pick it up.

  • As someone that's not caring for the newer cartoons, this was actually a good idea. I would have gotten out of the way to watch this one. I loved Professor Pat Pending the most out of this aside from Dasturdly & Muttley. It didn't sound like Dick Dasturdly but it's one of a million for someone to get his voice down so I still give him props for it. lmao

  • @AdamGomez87 Well, Professor Pat is crazier than ever, the vampire from the Gruesome Twosome had a hot, Gothic daughter, and Peter Perfect & Peliney Pitstop got married & had two kids, one like peter but normal and one like Peliney but more like a teenager, the only racers that are like the old the series are The Slag Brothers and Dick Dastardly & Mutley, and I think there should more and new racers like a pimping rappers called D.J. Jazzy Jazz, and a real series on Teletoon & C.N., DYT?

  • @182supermario I wouldn't say Professor Pat is crazy. Eccentric maybe not not crazy

  • @Thecherryblossom27 Well, he looks and acts crazy.

  • @182supermario But it was his gadgets that helped the Wacky Racers in escaping Dick's traps

  • @Thecherryblossom27 What does "gadgets" have to do with this conversation?

  • @182supermario Just making a point that the Professor is one of the most helpful racers. I don't want to offend you and start an argument.

  • @Thecherryblossom27 Well he still makes gadgets, he's just crazy, like "Pops" from "Regular Show", see what I mean?

  • @182supermario I see what you mean.

  • We built it out of snakes!

    ...

WE BUILT IT OUT OF SNAKES

  • So apart from the Double Zero Duo the cars now driven by the descendants of the old racers. Clever idea. I seem to like this revamped version but it doesn't really compare to the original great show.

  • I can honestly say that I am glad CN didn't air this.Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the idea of a sequel to Wacky Races to build up the franchise but they should have kept the nice charm it had back in the 1960s

  • @Thecherryblossom27 Honestly, I imagine that this is the reason that it DIDN'T get one the air: Network execs probaly saw it as 'too aggressive.' Given the current milquetoast warm-fuzzy atmosphere of most animation these days, a high-mayhem show like this didn't have a chance.

  • @mecampbellesq Agreed. If they're going to make a sequel try to get it as close to the original as best as they could

  • @Thecherryblossom27 If they did somethng 'as close to the original as they could', what would be the point of making a sequel?

  • @mecampbellesq True I meant that it should have the same nice charm and appeal.

  • @Thecherryblossom27 Well I think, it just makes a whole new generation of the "Wacky Races" and they really should put this on "Teletoon" & "Cartoon Network".

  • @182supermario Good point but it wouldn't beat the original.
