  • really cool, i wish they used better camera

  • 1:50 Static tornado :o

  • camera of chuck norris? lol

  • Shame its a isolated rural area where theres nothing to compare the scale with.

  • if you look inside them they seem very bright

  • Sensors.

Although I do know some censors whom I'd like to see released into a storm like this, too.

  • I have been looking for this video for the past two years. Awesome video.

  • does it blend ?

  • Needs some windshield wipers

  • Its like Ron White says..."Its not THAT the wind is blowing its WHAT the wind is blowing."

  • wow thats amazing

  • DIOS mio...que cosa mas espantosa...lo que este en su camino sufrira...espero que no haya victimas...

  • Another cow

  • At 1:52 there is a lightning strike!

  • SCARY STUFF!

  • If only the put it another 50ft to the right

  • Great video. One of the best up close tornadoe videos I've seen. Just RAW power.

  • Hey, we know Tim - He uses our Amsoil Synthetics in his vehicles so he doesn't have to worry about engine failure and oil changes every 3000 miles or every week in his case. Beers to you Tim!!

  • F3 just by looking at it,no doubt About it.

  • @xxxRCT3FREAKxxx this was rated F4

  • amazing footage!

  • Great to actually hear one up close. I don't know if the person that posted this is the one who filmed it but try using RAIN X on your lenses.

  • @mikedavis5671 Yes that stuff works great. Good idea.

  • i would love to be in a tornado :)

  • Fucken Awesome!

  • well done gentlemen!

  • All I can say after this video is, 'Mom, is it gonna kill me?? D:'

At 1:25, I just got scared and put my hands over my eyes Dx

  • wow

  • gees you wouldnt want to be near that, youd be cut to ribbons from the debree. and im supprised how fast it travelled, wouldnt be able to out run it.

  • That's so awesome xD Went right over it!

  • Can you record it and a lower bit rate? I'm not seeing enough video pixelation =)

  • DA HORA !!!

  • sounds great through the BOSE speakers!

  • that was probably one of the most scariest things coming toward me that I have ever seen.

  • This is awesome!!

  • 2:08 what is that?

  • camera 1 was SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET

  • wow. Look at that thing spin! wow

  • Well done wicked video

  • AWESOME VIDEO well done

  • thats pretty metal

  • WOW

  • Great VID!

  • what type of lightning was that?

  • amazing and soo cool to watch gj for tim samaras :)

  • Very, very nice footage. If only the cameras weren't covered in raindrops!

  • BULLSEYE !!!!!

  • OMG! AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!

  • best probe hit iv'e seen

  • insane footage, well done

  • Amazing sound, man i love this things. How did they do this????????

  • perfect spot :)

  • FUCKIN INCREDIBLE!!!

  • Now that is some impressive footage right there. Excellent work on that man's part. what was the strength of this tornado? I wanna say high end EF1 to low end EF2

  • Actually, this was an F4

  • NICE JOB!

  • That has got to be the best video taken to date of a tornado.

  • Awesome !!

  • Absolutely awesome guys, congrats on the intercept!

  • wow!!!

  • 1:53 lightning strike. NICE

  • awesome

  • awesome!

  • that was cool i liked that how that tornado just flew right next to it and it fliped over.

  • lol tornados pick up trains, and houses like toys. I persionally wouldn't go in the tiv. but I hope he gets his video. he seems like a cool guy. he deserves his shot.

  • Almost a direct hit, but a very nice capture at that. I think the TIV (Tornado Intercept Vehicle) will go flying if it gets a direct hit.

  • Nice picture of Mud all over the probe at 2:08

  • lots of dirt spinning in circles

  • Now that's what I call amazing, you should post this on tornado videos!

  • Very cool, do it again! lol

  • finally a video that doesnt lie about actually having footage inside a tornado. Is it so much to ask people to be truthful about what youll see in the video. This is exactly what ive been looking for, seeing that actual inside of the actual cyclone with actual debris right up in the camera's face. Thank you so much, you are more truthful and reliable than all of National Geographic.

  • dust bunnies are cute!!

  • That was pretty cool. Makes you feel like your there. 1:15 to 1:33 is the best.

  • I Say the Same thing

  • Pretty cool, but would be a HELLUVA lot cooler if it stopped switching between cameras and just stayed on one.

  • omg, it scared the hell out of me, although it's just a vid.

  • Fantastic camera placement! It's gotta take brass balls to set these up!

  • i had no idea that such stable and reliable technology existed. that is an amazing view of the storm as it passed! great placement on the camera also! DAMN!

  • got realy lucky to get this. it's incredibly hard to do this. tornadoes are extremely unpredictable. it could've shifted and missed the probe entirely.

  • SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • If Im not mistaking this video was shown on a show on the National Geographic Channel special about tornadoes. They calculated the speed by lookin at he debries blown in front of the camera and also they seen a large farm equipment inside the tornado.

  • yeah i saw that too pretty awesome

  • Is it just me or is there a tiny lightning originating from quite low down in the funnel at more or less exactly 1:40:00? Or is it just debris? Awesome video btw, thanks for sharing

  • yeah i also think it's lightning. Fascinating!

  • i saw what definitely looked like a "baby strike" at 1:53:00...doesn't look like debris

  • That is some great footage. What luck to be almost directly in the path. Excellent video!

  • wow thats wacky!!!!!!!!

  • wow

  • HOLY SHIT!!:O

  • It's not from a video game. It's real.

  • No video game, it's the real deal.

  • Omg what? Are u joking or being plain stupid?

  • duh the whole world is not a video game, its real!

  • Simply the best Tornado video on YouTube PERIOD!

  • Masterpiece video for anyone wanting to get an ideal of an actual tornado!

  • That was AMAZING! Just the SOUND of it gave me chills! Thanks for posting this! :P

  • extraordinary video.. woooow !!!!!!!!!!

  • that was soooo exciting i love youtube..

  • Whew! I've seen videos on Samaras' earlier attempts but this is the first one I've seen showing what happened when one of his probes finally took a direct hit. Coolll.

  • Inconceivable strength. The most resembling to a black hole on the eath.

  • Astounding!

    Thanks for sharing.

  • is this TOTO?

  • No. TOTO was in the '80s this was from 2003.

  • That scared me :0

  • Im not a PRO BUT DAMN!!

    Nice tornado!

  • Wow that was amazing to watch. I had to turn my sound down.

  • I'm glad my volume wasn't high, lol.

  • that sound = something you DONT wanna hear heading for your house.

Watch the SEC Videos they have, the ones about the GA Dome being hit, you hear that same sound starting about 20 secs in and peak about 40 secs in just as they stop play (seems like the refs where the only people who did NOT know a tornado was bearing down on the dome.)

  • yup.

  • FUN!

  • WOW THAT IS CRAZYYYYY

  • OMG! 0_0

  • damn lol that is crazy

  • Oh my god. Thats SO COOOL! :D. I live in md, so we never get tornados, and personally I'm glad. Lol. I'd hate to lose my house!

  • Its funny you said that haha, I live in MD and we already had one tornado today, its been insane. =D Its calming down now. Powers still out, Im on my laptop.

  • I think this is a strong F4 tornado. Although it passes really close to the probe, it doesn´t hit it directly. A direct hit probably would have tossed the probe into the air easily. And this is because winds inside the vortex are much stronger than peripheral winds.

  • The F-scale describes estimated wind speed only by damage after the tornado has passed. We don't know what the wind speed is here.

  • Did you know Tim Samaras is my uncle? My dad storm chases with him!

  • What the hell? The video was as blurry as shit, you could hardly tell a tornado was passing through.

  • Its a camera strapped to the ground. You take what you can get.

  • prttty freaky when you think bout it brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • Now that's the real deal right there...

  • sweet

  • fuck yeh;) kickass!

  • are you crazy ?????

  • OMFG THAT IS AWESOME

  • Tim Samaras is pretty damn awesome. You guys should check out some of his other work, if you have time/money.

  • wow that was amazing!!! thanks for posting that!!!

  • WOW

  • FUCK!

  • and man thinks he has power

  • WOW!!! I would be soooo terified! That's amazing footage!!

  • Ho-lee SHIIIIIIIIT!!!!

  • WOW! That is some amazing footage!

Although...it almost looked like the camera(s) were just on the very EDGE of the circulation, rather than being RUN OVER. Does that make sense?

Much like the "Overpass Tornado", only closer and at ground level?

Still, AWESOME footage...much closer than I'd ever care to be!! Thanks for posting this!

  • wow that was crazy sweet

  • This is the best tornado footage I have ever seen. To be right in the middle of it!!

All I can say is WOW.

  • Out of all the tornado footage i've seen, this was one of the best.

  • Try using RainX on your camera lens for better video quality.

  • wow

  • cow...01:38

  • WOW! Sweet Roar!

  • my god..... the power.....

  • well now we know what the inside of a tornado really looks like! unlike in Twister where it was perfectly visible in middle of a mile wide tornado! lol

  • That...was...EPIC!!!

  • Hey wait, where are all the little sensors flying up into the funnel rigged with Pepsi can pinwheels? And where's Helen Hunt? ;o)

    That was really cool. Thanks.

  • Wow, it really does almost sound like a very loud train.

  • The sound if that is just... Incredible...

  • im not sure...

but i think i saw a house cat or two blow by...

    meow.......meow......

    (could have been a racoon...)

    (or perhaps a recess monkey.)

  • Awesome video, thank you for posting, all the others who claim to be up close and personal are fake, well done you've made my day.

  • Incredible video!!. That is the closer to hell experience that people may live on earth and this video shows us without getting injured ourselves. Thanks!

  • THAT's a huge tornado!!

  • No i saw the probe and my car was next to a ditch right next to the probe. the tornado came this way. we hold on to the probe and holded for our lives. about 2 minutes over, the probe was still there and i was alive. the whole family was

  • This is the Storm Lake, Iowa tornado of June 11th, 2004, not the Manchester, SD tornado.

  • wow

  • aww man is that was a person!! lol your ears wold pop out and ur head would have been ripped off.... that was amazing ty for the upload!

  • I don't even think the Manchester Probe had a camera in it...just sensors.

  • there were bout 5 probes with sensors and 1 with loads of cameras.

  • Imagine if that was your head sticking out of the ground.

  • hairless hahahaha

  • and brainless

  • You know, I may not be a scientist, but this camera probe idea seems pretty pointless when you can't see anything.

  • Check out the Beecher tornado. Last in the USA F5 over 116 died

  • just a question, so that meens the moore bridge creek tornado want an F5, or the Andover tornado wasnt an F-5?

    how about greensburg Kansas?

but yeah, that was a destructive tornado.

  • I forgot to say, this probe was actually not directly hit. They miscalculated by little over 100 feet, so they did not get the brunt of the F4 winds, but rather that of the dibris cloud, still intense!

Having chased this exact storm near Manchester, have to say this was a beast!

great add, i have been waiting for this to come up for a long while!

    Thanks!

  • Needs to use some rain-x on the lenses...

  • Twiester was awful. There is no way in hell near the end they are running away from an f5 tornado. Think about they are running away from some that is up to 317 mph winds and let's not forget the first tornado that was growling like a monster. Seriously, that movie was AWFUL!

  • That was one of the most amazing tornado clips I have ever since, and I've been watching them for years! Twister was one of the best tornado movies.

  • God damn, that thing woulda eaten you up like its lunchtime! Really good, really intense.

Awesome how you can see it approaching nearer and nearer each shot.

  • THAT was too cool!!!!

  • lol haha he thought he wet himself lol.this video is awesome

  • Ýeah Very Cool nice

  • holykrap that was awsomo (i always wanted to see the inside of a tornado)

  • Love the fact that he got audio too.

  • if you think that was bad then try having a wedge come at you.

  • I need something like that to mow my lawn

  • The next thing to do would be to mount a camcorder or wireless camera inside a tough housing and try to get it sucked up by the tornado.

  • cool man thats awsome

  • i feel bad for the little peices of grass

  • If you look between 1:30 and 1:40 you might see some farm equipment go flying above the grass.

  • Can't even see at 1:27 theres t much debris

  • that was amazing and frieghtening. it kinda come at you. toradoes do sound like trains. I'm from south georgia and we dont get any tornadoes thats interesting.

  • No tornados in South GA? I hope you are being sarcastic.

  • man that was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!
