  • Watched like a half dozen videos and could not figure out how to do this. Watched this one once and it made sense! My daughter is now off and running! Thanks so much.

  • augh! thank you so much! i was trying to figure out how to do this from a book, and this was so much more helpful! thank you again!

  • thanks a lot! i learnt how to knit by this video! the other videos are all so confusing but this one just stands out. you make it look so easy, and thats what inspired me the most.

    THANKS!

  • Elizabeth Zimmerman, of august knitting-how-to memory, wrote that this was the best way to cast-on. Then she wondered, in her essay, why she didn't use it more exclusively. Habit I believe. Trust me. Learn this, esp. from this clip when she teaches that you don't have to remove the right-hand needle to continue. Beautiful cast-on results. Not too tight, not too loose. Eliz. Zimm.'s conclusion.

  • This is extremely simple and clear. Thank you!

  • very good!

  • Thanks, a great replacement for the long tail cast on. You kept it clear and simple. I didn't feel like I needed to see anyone else's video

  • u are too faast

  • Thank you for such a simple knitted cast on explanation. I have been searching for one that is simple enough to show my nine year old granddaughter who is learning to knit.

  • knitted cast on ftw

i just can't understand the other cast on's that are not ment to be used to knit circular

  • Such clear instructions! Thank you!

  • Thanks, it took four youtubes to find this one that worked for me. Being left handed makes finding a good guide difficult.

  • THANK YOU! I've been searching videos to relearn how to cast on and some are ridiculous. Saw one where the woman didn't even start from the beginning the video showed her casting on after about 3 stitches and one was just about playing cat's cradle instead of making the stitches. Thank you for keeping it simple so that people can understand it.t

  • It's not fancy but it works which is why I made the videos, for my students between classes.

Nice name, my cousin knows the members of Fall Out Boy.

  • is this the same as the long tail cast-on? Cause this is waaaayy easier looking then the long tail. Are they much different?

  • This is not the same and they are very different.

  • Guess so. Ty.

  • I do not turn the loop before putting it onto the left needle, am I doing it wrong?

  • Technically yes. What you're doing will jsut give a subtle change to the way the edge looks. If you like what you're doing and it doesn't bother you then don't worry about it.

  • yeah, but it totally works! AWSOME!!!

  • thanks for sharing

  • The cast on is easy! I am 9 years old so that tells you that it is not that heard. But anyway, The very first time I did this I was just abou to guve up anf return my yarn ect and right as I was going to put it up I started doinh it good. So its VERY heard at first but just keep doing it. Good luck guys!!

  • Just what I needed. Thanks! Knit, pull-out, turn transfer, etc. Very helpful.

  • This is very good, you just have to watch it 2-3 times and then pause it after every step. Thank You narrator!

  • show offff!!!!!!!!!

  • thank you some one who makes sence.

  • Many thanks, was shown once before with this method a long time ago!

  • thank you so much! i know how to knit but i always forget how to cast on!

  • Video is much easier to learn by than a book! Thank you for sharing this info!

  • Went a little too fast for me. I had to keep going back to look closer but your hands were going to fast!

  • Knit the slip knot but instead of keeping the new loop on the right needle, slip it onto the left needle and repeat.

  • may i ask, are you left-handed? just for curiousity

  • Nope, not left handed, why do you ask?

  • Such an easy method! Thank you. :)

  • Thank you for this video. I tried to watch the one at Knitting Help, but it was hard to see what she was doing. Thank you for the audio instructions and the close shot. :)

  • Thanks! :) This is how I learned how to cast on, but I couldn't remember exactly how to do it!

  • great job....i like this cast-on method best
