how often is it in a man's life that the one person who cares about you the most; who accepts your flaws, laughs at your corny jokes, & is always there for you no matter how many times you have hurt him---is always the one right in front you?
Do not realize that already there was the name of the song, thanks!, But have I another doubt, which is the name of the song when they focus his wounded face, in the wardrobes?
this is just the most amazing episode, brought tears to my eyes. Love is so complex. this episode has such powerful ending and words that Coop said just really.....shaken me. I swear if I know a guy like Coop I would love him forever lol......sad..
.. [Coop's parents].whatever they had died years ago, but staying together because of the church, because it's expected, because they have nowhere else to go. Cursed? "We're the lucky ones, Jimmy" -- Gawd that line stabs me clean through to the back side of my heart
This episode was amazing. I've never had a film touch me so much. Everything from the music to the black and white theme was so appropiate. It made me look at myself and not be afraid. The lucky ones.
I know this came out a long time ago and I just watched it for the very first time on TV last nite I just cried my eyes out . Why is life and close minded people soo cruel on love. I wish life and love was easier and just taken for what it is . LOVE !!!!!!!!
For BethanKatie.... This is a series that comes on weekly. "COLD CASE" is the name of it. They do flash backs of the actual crime and solve cold cases. It is usually a tearjerker, as this one sure was. Amazing they aired this at this time since the government is finally trying to do something about bullying and intimidation. With so many suicides lately it is about time!!
something's been bugging me... starting at 3:05, Jimmy and Coop are like... putting on their shirts i guess (maybe taking them off?). anyway, they are all... shifty eyed... what did they just do before that!?
man, i watched this yesterday, it was on tv. it was so sad, it made me cry.
its so terrible that gay men/women were(are) treated so badly. its sickening to think that this happened a lot during the time this was set. its wrong.
To ZephyrFate, let just say that as a gay man, must of us do KNOW at a very young age that we are different. We may not know what is called but we do know. As far as this episode, I know that some have said that it is not right for them to be homewreckers but you have to understand what year this is for them. Gay people are killed and NO ONE cares and they are scared to death. You understand by the end why. Even today some people still want us dead at any cost.
so sad... gay people are cursed in a way at least in films... there's practically always one of the 2 dying or not accepting the relationship or leaving far away from the other one... that sucks! they should make more films with a happy ending!
Damn I've only cried to a few episodes of CC and this was one of them >_>... The main one I remember crying to is the one where the chubby girl gets trapped in the burning house with her friend (outside) at the window trying to get her out as she dies... So damn depressing :(
the episode was wonderful and the kiss just amazing- i was so moved by his regret because he was scared as hell- i think i will rememberin this a while-
They were arguing about their different attitudes to being a cop. The dark haired guy was saying Coops's attitude came from being in Vietnam and killing people. Coop took offense and punched the dark haired guy.
It was really sad, but I didn't actually cry. Maybe some tears. The only time I REALLY cried for an hour watching cold case was when I saw the episode "sleepover". When at the end the girl is riding her bycicle, smiling and in the background there's Edie Brickell singing "and being alone is...it's the best way to be..." and then she fades away while Lily is looking at her. And also "a perfect day" featuring "catch the wind" by donovan made me cry a bit.
I was a bit disappointed with this episode cause Cooper's father was supposed to be dead in 2006, and he wasn't...I mean...Cooper was around 30 in 1968, and if he had not been killed, in 2006 he would have been around 70. What about his father? He was perfectly fine and kicking. =D lol.
I get sooo scared that such situation does not happen to me man. Like getting married to a woman and then someone sweeter and nicer comes along, as man. I am gonna need a long vacation or something.
I can't express the distain I have for gay stories that involve a homewrecking. Hell, straight is hard to watch as well. The girl here had children with this man, she didn't know he had this secret, now her life is without a husband but with his kids...shouldn't he of been honest with her & himself before he let this happen? If he had the slightest idea he was gay (or in a straight scenerio, in love with another woman) he shouldn't have put her & the kids through this, it's not fair for anyone.
Unfortunately in that time, it's fairly obvious that being gay was unacceptable. In the extended version of this, Coop is disowned by his father, who then has something to do with his death. They obviously tried as hard as they could to repress their feelings, but after so long, their love couldn't be contained. Don't get me wrong, homewrecking is bad, but you cannot blame them for not being able to hold their feelings in. It's a great story.
You can't just expect someone to know their feelings from the onset. It's obvious the two were not visibly in love with each other until the night they fought, and kissed. No one is just gay from the get-go. Many people don't realize it until they're in a situation like Jimmy's, already married and with kids. So... your argument is not valid.
It isn't valid because your argument is based upon the assumption that people must 'know' they're gay at a predetermined time and therefore should never make big life decisions like get heterosexually married or something. You pretty much just bypassed my point, too, so nevermind.
@supersandi2 Totally. Otherwise, it would be like "Hi, I really think you're great. But one last thing before I go out with you: will you drop your pants? Just to make sure that you're of the gender I am generally predisposed to fall in love with."
Ground breaking for TV....especially because it was a love between 2 Cops not just any 2 individuals....Incredible performances by both...It'll be even more groundbreaking when TV & Movies allows for a happy ending instead of having 1 or both killed in order to pacify the intolerant and the homophobics in our Society....
Humanity has a very long way to go as far as TOLERANCE & UNDERSTANDING Goes......
Amen Bob, Don't we deserve to have positive story lines and Happy Endings. I like good tear jerkers as much as anybody, I find them cathartic. But, I totally agree with you, how many LGBT stories end in tragedy. It's almost a subliminal message, if you dare to follow your Heart this is what you may face. I LOVE "Cold Case" it has shown many lgbt story lines over the years and they are diverse and well told, but I think there is truth in what you are saying, here is a prayer Lord that this stops!
I wrote a short story recently. It's a LGBT love story between two freshmen girls in highschool. But it has a happy ending. Something tragic does happen, but their love overcomes this. I felt too related to my characters to end it sadly. :D
Oh well...it had to end that way. It's cold case, not friggin Dawson's Creek...uh...what a coincidence. There was a gay cop in that show as well. Pecy's (I don't really know how to write it...duh) brother.
this looks like a really sad film..... is it true?? i mean guys liking guys and girls liking girls have been around for a lonf time, but i mean this perticular story.....??

Hi power', Hang in there and don't stop believing. Love is all around. It's just so difficult to find the right person for "you". I'm 41 years old and I have hoped prayed and dreamed of someone to truly love who will return that love. Sorry to say it hasn't happened yet, I thought I came close once, I was wrong, he broke my heart so badly that I haven't felt until recently that I could open up my heart to anyone again. I don't want to go through this life never knowing what Love really is! T/Y
i remember hearing '' love is as blind as a bat, love is sametimes cold as night, looks are temporary but what is truly inside you heart that is forever '' or samething like that, im 16 and sadly still in the closet.... and no bf, for now anyway..... but good luck to you though..... =)
Just yet another film about why it's so bad to be gay....YOU DIE HORRIBLY BETRAYED BY THE ONE YOU LOVE! When will Hollywood make something more affirmative of gays? Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
That wasn't the message at all. To me the fact that the guys working Coop's murder case recognized that attitudes have changed since then gave out a positive message. And things were definitely like that in previous decades. Why try to pretend otherwise? Have you read the interview with Shane Johnson in After Elton? A homophobic friend of his said seeing this episode helped him understand what it must be like to love someone society says you can't. If TV can do that, I'd say that's a good thing.
anyway people i am campaining on this Christian and Oliver thing it is the most awesomest soap opera ever, i love shelter alot but come on nothing compares to even Brokeback mountain. want to have a taste enter Christian and Oliver part 45 ,if you have a heart you better hold on to it cuz it will rip apart enjoy
this is the most sad thing i've ever seen, i can't stop crying now, why people can't avail so much chances, why they leave good chance while they can avail it,, they could've been awesoome couples
Cold Case always makes me cry a little (yeah...I know: I'm a whimp...), but this episode brought on the floodworks....so sad....the two of them would have made an awesome couple!!! Again...so sad! But I love the way more and more series are taking gay couples more serious!!! Keep on the good work! Thanx for posting Rhysennvids!!!!!
I agree. There are WAY to many similarities for it to be a coincidence. This story MUST have been inspired by "Brokeback Mountain". I was pulling for a happy ending, knowing it was impossible, I love drama as much as the next person but damn let US have Love that lasts!!!
so fucking heartbreaking

It's just not my cup of tea, and that's okay.(I didn't like Brokeback either, which this story, as mentioned in the discription, had many traits of.)

Just yet another film about why it's so bad to be gay....YOU DIE HORRIBLY BETRAYED BY THE ONE YOU LOVE! When will Hollywood make something more affirmative of gays? Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
goebels99 2 years ago
That wasn't the message at all. To me the fact that the guys working Coop's murder case recognized that attitudes have changed since then gave out a positive message. And things were definitely like that in previous decades. Why try to pretend otherwise? Have you read the interview with Shane Johnson in After Elton? A homophobic friend of his said seeing this episode helped him understand what it must be like to love someone society says you can't. If TV can do that, I'd say that's a good thing.

To goebels99. That's not what happened at all. A fat anti-gay cop shot him. His lover loved him.

The song is called ''My back pages''. Here it is sung by ''The byrds'', but it is originally sung by Bob Dylan!
Hope I could help.

this is the most sad thing i've ever seen, i can't stop crying now, why people can't avail so much chances, why they leave good chance while they can avail it,, they could've been awesoome couples

I feel the same. I just loved Brokeback Mountain, and this reminds me so much of it.....
Gyakutengrl 2 years ago 3
I agree. There are WAY to many similarities for it to be a coincidence. This story MUST have been inspired by "Brokeback Mountain". I was pulling for a happy ending, knowing it was impossible, I love drama as much as the next person but damn let US have Love that lasts!!!
marklulrich 2 years ago 2
Yeah, and another thing- Coop looks a LOT like Heath Ledger!! AND Jimmy looks like Jake Gyllenhaal! I mean, the similarities are UNCANNY! :D
