@Hektor88 he actually uses the bass and plays it like a proper instrument. He always plays with a virtually clean tone. Alain drowns out the rest of the band on this album, its completely overdriven and distorted, can't reign it in at all.
nice interview, I had a used copy of this cd for a week and my friend borrowed and lost it, I'm glad you mentioned the "this cd to belonmgs to" it brouight me back to the place and time when I was able to look at the lyrics sheet and see it for myself.
Iwas closed minded about this record at first because they gave Oiveri the boot. But now, years later it has grown on me. But then everything after Deaf had to grow on me.
I bought this album really cheap because it was "radio edited" or something. I listened to it once and it was pretty unremarkable. I prefer listening to Desert Sessions or something instead.
I personally think Lullabies is their best album. Nick (to me) didn't contribute anything that someone else couldn't do just as well, and in all, he was kind of an asshole. He was this loser in the middle of this very classy rock band. And SFTD was a bit too much on the same level for my taste.
i used to be really into this band. i was really into this album when it came out but i'm really tired of them and i don't really like them at all except for the first track off "songs for the death".
Yeah, after Songs for the Deaf, I found myself pretty ambivalent towards these guys. Maybe it's cause they started wearing designer shirts and fly girl sunglasses. Man, I really hate those.
im not trying to be a dick or anything dude, but this is just a review of the artwork on the album. really was not worth posting. take it easy. cheers
@YoureWrongImRight yeah i have to agree with spiros. u talked about the artwork and some background of the cd but u don't really review the songs in the album. all u did was imitate joshe homme's singing technique for like 8 seconds. I wasn't sure whether you liked the album or not in the end.
he is right, you should havem gone through the songs more. you spoke more about the sticker on the front that you hadnt peeled then you did the music.
@spiros11386: I was writing a comment until I saw what you said. I think you'll see why I replied (mostly to associate them, not as an actual reply)
"What is this? This doesn't seem like an actual review. I'm not a mad fan, nor do I dislike Queens of the Stoneage. I always liked this album WHEN I listened to it, but I don't really crave it before or afterwards. I'm not sure why though because as soon as I hear it I get really excited. The main problem is that it falls flat half way through.
pt 2. (The main problem is that it falls flat half way through).. or so it seems. I honestly haven't really given the second half more than a skim, to put it lightly.
But this isn't really a review.. I haven't seen your other videos and would assume they are more detailed than this. This is more like a short bio/description of what the album is. Hell, it practically just acknowledges that it exists. You go over the artwork itself and .. that's about it. Can we get a real review?"
This album is great, the songs that you played in the video are at the top :D

It's their 4th album, which I believe someone has already pointed lol.
Check out their self-titled debut - its been re-released recently.
They get better on Era Vulgaris, bass is less overdriven and muddy on that LP as opposed to this one. Oh Alain why, why? Lol

God, I love this album. If you don't have Songs for the Deaf, you need to get that too.

Also, you look better without the baby gap beard.
