Do we require fuel once we are in space?, or it is only for launching, I am confused?. Or fuel is required to keep it in the right track to mars?. Newton's first law says in a frictionless surface like space we don't need fuel?

@DeepLyricist Thanks, so fuel is not used for transport, like vehicles use it, only it is used for correcting its aim, and for the landing. Is it like a frictionless road, once we start the car it continues without stoping, and we don't use any fuel, only to turn it towards our destination we use it and also to acclerate it.

@TheStringofdarkness "WARP" being the idea of traveling faster then light would be a bit excessive for traveling to Mars. Traveling at light speed, or "WARP 1" would get from earth to Mars in 3 mins. It takes an hour to get to work, 14 hours to flight half way around the world, but NASA failed before they can't travel to Mars 20 time faster then it takes me to get to work? Right....

@Morrgore WTF, Mars is only 35 million miles away and light speed is ~670 million mph, to get to Mars you would only need to go 0.22% the speed of light. No where near when would need anything fanciful.

You forget that instant acceleration, even to 0.22% LS would smush you to the back wall of your space ship.

@Morrgore 0.22% of the speed of light to get to Mars in 1 day. And I don't take acceleration, if you limited it to 1G and -1G you it would really take ~3 days to get to mars. To make it 1 day you would need closer to 3G, which would be uncomfortable, though it wouldn't kill people... I think.

@luckytom13 If English is not you first language, stick with the basics and avoid too much slang, a lot of first language English speakers mess up slang (most commonly old people). We could fix other things and not go to Mars within 50 years, but as a specie interested in it's long term survival. The only thing left that really threaten the extinction of the human race is a planet wide even (mass nuke or asteroid). Getting sustainable life on Mars is the only protection from that.

And I don't mean sustainability like "being green", but just that you can go there is live without resupplying. There is frozen water are mars, so it can be "mined". The big thing for space would be robots that an produce materials for construction and then do construction. If we could get robots that could make steel and glass on mars, they could build habitats for people so we don't sent them.

How to: [insert achievement here] but then i took an arrow to the knee. There are also some alternatives like i took an adventurer to the knee or something along those lines. Hope this explains every future arrow to the knee reference.

@ANoyceGuy Interesting question, spacecraft don't use gas and they don't give the gallons of liquid oxygen used, but they do give the force in Newtons for each rocket, which as a total of ~10,000kN. And a gallon of gas can get 200N, so the latest rocket to go to Mars use the equivalent of 50,000 gallons of gas to travel for 300 million miles, so 6,000 MPG (ball-parked)
