Hi Mike: Just bought a Oscar Schmidt ou6 for my Christmas present to myself and I love it. I have 149 guitar videos on Youtube but I like the fact that I can practice my uke in my car which is kind of tough with the guitar. Thanks for all your videos and advice. I am learning alot from you and I greatly appreciate you....HAPPY NEW YEAR......Dan
I bought ukulele to my father as a Christmas present (the cheap one for the beginners)! He is so happy! But funny thing is that I fell in love with this instrument very fast and I started to learn how to play faster than he is! I've arleady can play 2 songs and it's beacuse youtube! I can play a little bit of classic guitar. I've learned everything by myself. Mike my goal is to learn every song you learn here. I hope to keep my fascination. Thank you for online lessons!
Hey Ukulele Mike. I love you videos and i just got a uke for christmas. Its a stagg(off brand) but this little thing for $40 plays really nice. The action and just the sound that comes out just makes me happy. In just one day from watching you videos ive learned to tune and play it! I got a nice acoustic too but im hooked on it!
i have an oscar schmidt ou2 concert ukulele and i love it!!! its amazing. in the future i wanna get an electric one but i need to get alot better first lol
I want around looking for a reasonable ukulele. Tried out several types including some priceys ones until I came across a two sound hole Ukulele.
I found the 2 sound hole tenor size to be the loudest and the brightest sounding compare to the same tenor size ukulele with a traditional single sound hole in the centre ...of a similar price range. I am now happy with my boulder creek ukulele.
Hey I started playing ukulele about 2 months ago and I really love your videos, I got a lanikai concert ukulele and I like it okay it holds a tune but it doesn't sound quite right. I've tried retuning it, but it never fixes it. I know that lanikia is a popular brand but I was wondering if lanikia just doesn't make good quality instruments or it's just me?
Thank you so much. I unfortunately being a complete idiot went out and bought a uke because it was cheap (online) turns out its one of the plastic ones that wont stay tuned maybe someday ill have a real one :)
Hey Mike...my name is Lauren and I would like to thank you for being the coolest cat on youtube. Seriously...I love your lessons they really help me and I appreciate that they're free. You're trying to help people and I think it's awesome, so thank you for that and please keep it up.
thanks a lot. you're my ukulele teacher . we can't use Youtube in China ,so I I deliberately over the wall to see your video here . haha I'm exciting!!! I want to learn every song you taught. yeah! But my Engish... I have to learn it much more better! Oh, maybe you can't understand my word .
Now ive been looking at buying the OU7T, but ive seen that there's some controversy over its sound. some say it has a rather horrible and just not good sound. but most say its very beautiful. I was just wondering if it was just because it has to have a very certain tune or because it has certain strings. and i have also heard that people change out the G string for a higher or lower sound. so just wondering if anybody can put their opinion or thoughts on here. thankyou if you can help.
I agree with most of what you said in this video Mike. My wife has an OU5 and is quite happy with it. One thing I disagree with is the lineage of the Washburn Company. While the Washburn name has been around for a long time, the name is the only thing that the modern day Washburn Company has with the vintage Washburns. Unlike the Martin company which has been in the same family and has some continuity, the tradition of Washburn is name only.
I took your advice and purchased an OU4 Oscar Schmidt Tenor, which has the solid spruce top. I am happy with the uke, Sounds great but I don't think I would have purchased it had I known it was made in Indonesia. I purchased it on Ebay from a music store located in Mo. No one advertises where they are made. Thanks for all your help and I really enjoy your vids.
I'm surprised that you didn't guess that your OU4 was an off shore instrument. I doubt that you are going to find a solid spruce top ukulele made in North America for under $200, like the OU4.
hey, im looking for the "deluxe ou5" model that you have, with the abalone on the fingerboard and pure koa wood. But i cant find it anywhere! not even on the oscar schmidt website! where did u get yours?
great video mike! thank you... i am looking for an oscar schmidt, the ou 5 (is it worth it?) and we are lucky out here in california... we have an independent music store here and they have at least 50 ukes haha the only problem is a 50 dollar ukulele would be 150 at that store!!!!! haha
I am living in Romania, and the only Uke that I've seen around here is a Stagg model (US80-S). What do you think about it? I'm only looking to play for fun in the class & in the parks :-D
I already know to sing the guitar (singing for three years and counting :D )
I was wondering if you know where I can get a nice, affordable ukulele neck. Just the neck though. I am trying to build an electric cigar box ukulele and all I am missing is the neck of a ukulele. If you know of a website or a contact that sells ukulele necks please message me back. Thanks!
Mike, you are so personable and fun to learn from! Any chance you can post the chords for the rare Nesmith tune "Magnolia Simms"? I feel like playing it on the Uke would be great!
lanikai has great "tunability" and amazing "playability" they arent that expensive i have rly nice concert size uke...natural koa wood one with Gold Grover die-cast tuners its amazing it has a realy nice tone and a rly nice feel
hey! im just about to start learning and i wanna know if this is a good choice. Lanikai LU-21TE Tenor Acoustic Electric Ukulele . thats what im looking at right now. tell me what you think please :) thanks a ton
I have a Mainland Solid Mahogany Soprano Uke, it plays fantastic. Probably a good one to step up to. I supose it suits me because I have small hands. I can see the attraction of the Tenor and may invest in an OS one. I also play guitar, so a Baritone wouldn't be too difficult.
Slightly disagree about sopranos - I've got a Brueko (Brüko) soprano and it's fab' - stays in tune; intonation great; solid wood; made in Germany, and only about 100 Euros.
The OS is an ok uke... As mike says, very playable and an ok value... My first was an OS concert and I still have it... I do have a tenor, soprano, baritone, banjo uke, 8 string, and a resonator... Still love the OS concert.. I might trade it off down the line, but is ok for me and for most all but the finicky professionals I think.
Thanks Mike. Top video as always and lovely instruments. I'm still enjoying my Brueko model 6 and always look forward to your new play along films. Kind regards. Steve. Shrewsbury UK
hey mike i have a stagg soprano that i got for 60 dollars and it is really great, it tunes nicely and i think its agreat beginner uku, you should check it out
Hi Mike, after watching this video the first time, I ordered me the OU5. You should ask sponsoring....

What's the difference between the OU3 and the OU5? The OU5 is about 50 dollars more than the OU3.

I have a Lanikai that curiously has the same filigree as your OS. I wonder if they're made in the same factory (at least the necks are)?

that solid koa ukulele is actually a ou280swk concert ukulele, not a ou5.
