  • So are video games bad for add and dyslexia?

  • I'm dysgraphic :(

  • I can read normally(not super fast) but i find it hard to spell because in my mind there are allot of ways to write 1 word but..there is only 1 correct.

  • I am getting really pissed off with my teachers, I have dyslexia, inparticualr disgrapia and all the teachers know but yet they still always have a go at me and say I couldn't read ur writing, even when I can read it just fine!!

  • my old history teacher use too fail me all the time because he coun't read my hand writing and he didn't look at it any more he just give me a 70. then he made me read it out loud and i was like in my head (dame why me) watch i did but i readed it slow, yes it was in my own hand writing but i was think about the other people and what they will think of me...then he said to me all the time, see (my name) you can;t read your own hand writing.so y should i give u a good grade.

  • for years my teacher would say to me "stop using Dyslexia as an excuse for bad hand writing" which made me cry a lot , i was only around 9 when i was diagnosed with Dyslexia , all those years before that teachers called me lazy , messy , unorganized, needs to try harder even when i was trying so hard! but when they found out they treated me so different , and made it obvious that i had trouble spelling ! and on top of this i have neurofibromatosis. i get extra help outside school and everything

  • @19LouiseBrennan you are luky to a point you were diagnosed at a young age i was only diagnosed in my last year of my edumercation and teachers use to say i was slow but the was in there mind because i was left handed so i know how you feel

  • OMG, I was diagnosed at a very age it has been since college I have had ny outside refernce on the subject. All I can say is wow everything you said is spot on however I can honsetly say there is no percentage differnce in all the forms I do them all equal. PS the only thing I can added to anyone with out knowledge of the subject is you lrean to cope as well as you can it's not like it just started on day you are born with is so you see and feel no differnt

  • I have Dyslexia of two types the most common to types and a type of Dyslexia called Irlen's Syndrome. I also have Dysgraphia and Dyscalculia. The Dyscalculia is the one that effects me the most severely and then my Dysgraphia is nearly as severe as the Dyscalculia. I have overcome my Irlen's Syndrome through the use of Irlen's Lenses and out growing the severity of the symptoms for the most part. It is good that I out grew the severity of my symptoms, because I lost my Irlen's Lenses awhile ago.

  • @stefanlicht Same if anything i have the second one and the third one. But kids with dyslexia have actually greater intelligants then this (excuse me for my miss spelling) I actually get things really good. I can understand more of things. I can't really explain stuff good but still. Dyslexia is a gift not a curse

  • Do I have dyslexia?

Every time i take a math test i take i get the same score. I miss to classes to go to a math teacher. In my class we do speed tests and im only on the second level everyone is ahead of me except one girl.

  • @Mexxi0 no it is not. have dyslexia and I get headaches and stomach aches all the time. my writing looks like its a scribbles and swirls with greek and russian mixed in, and I hate it. the words crawl off the page and scatteer, the text starts appearing different colors and its terrible. and the bullying s worse. but now I get tested orally and I am scoring a GPA of 4.9. I have won a scholarship also. it is such a terrible disorder to have. 1 out of 5 children have it.

  • Over diagnosed in children that are hyperactive or lazy that don't take the time to learn the language because they are unruly or hyped-up on sugar. I had the same issues as my sister growing up but she was "diagnosed", I worked hard to overcome my spelling and grammar, her and her friends decided to get easy passes to college by being lazy.

  • The definitions of dyslexia here are too narrow. Dyslexia changes as you get older - and most crack the code of reading, but certain types of reading like word-by-word reading out loud is more difficult.

What this video also doesn't talk about are the positive sides of dyslexia like spatial intelligence, ability to reason creatively, visualize sometimes in 3D, personal memory, strengths in storytelling etc. Also check out our What Does Dyslexia Look Like in a Gifted Child?

  • i go through a sentence or a paragraph and realize that i've understood nothing. i go twice and thrice even to comprehend simple sentences. Is this a form of dyslexia?

  • @MrBlurryvision I'm not a doctor and not trying to give medical advice, but yes, it sounds like you have dyslexia.

  • I have dyslexia, I am 19 years old, I don't work anymore, my last job I asked a girl that worked there to would she help me to spell some words and she laughed and always made jokes about me! I'm so scared to ever read, write, infront of people! Wish I cud get help

  • i have the two 1st to dyslexia she talked about and i read and write and remember every would and i write some music rhyming and all but i worked every hard... i been working on it since i wa 6 im 25 now

  • Dyslexia has made my life very hard. I am very intelligent and talented but have very few ways to apply it. I haven't been able to hold down a job for more than six months. I'm divorced and working at a carwash. It is hard being the only one in my family that is not well educated and successful. Both of my brothers are doctors with beautiful families. I am happy for them however. I've worked very hard my whole life with little to show for it. I'm trying to hopeful but its a struggle.

  • Wow, I have finally found WHAT type I am. Orthogaphic. Diagnosed at 11 after moving from CA to Mass( town next to Charles Drake's a pioneer of dyslexia). AT ELEVEN, I ASKED to repeat the 5 grade (No one would KNOW ). They looked at my records, & AGREED! I was in for testing within a few weeks. I READ ALL the time!!! but I could NOT put it back DOWN on paper to PROVE IT in test!. As An Adult, I carried the SPELLings to numbers for CHECK writing! Dyslixia NEVER FIXED, but worked AROUND.

  • I have dyslexia, but I speak 6 languages(spelling not so good 'D )long life spell check !!

  • I think I'm gonna get tested, I cant read properly i can, but the writing flashes at me, when im counting i miss 11 out, i usually miss hours out when im thinking about time, when i look at my handwriting it just looks like lines. i also always say words wrong, I tried to say brain dead, but said drainbed :/ andd i always mixl etter s up and have bad spelling :S

  • but most of it can be fixed

  • ithink i have dyscalculiya or wateva its called but i have other symtoms thats not maths aswel, i have spelling probloms like i cant spell stuf that well and i have probs with tieing shoes and i am quiet in class, cant learn a language very well and others can someone inbox me on here who knows about dyslexia and if i inbox u my symptoms then help me tel what types i have?

  • That means I should have 2 but i dont have have dyslexia but I have most of it's problems

    Weird

  • um.. i have one whith spelling and math?????????

  • so i have the discalculia dyslexia? ... no wonder im in one of the lowest maths classes :( i really hate that guy who called me a downy.. wish i could bloody forget that day

  • Yes Dyslexia exists but some people have made it into big business. The wider they can spread the dyselxia umbrella the bigger the business. This does a real diservice to the real dyslexics whose problem is seem as something fairly ordinary and also it provides an excuse for others whose real problem is laziness, etc etc. So they are not treated properly either. Empire building is the real problem here.

  • Hey I have 3 tpyes, but I have not given up on myself, it's only a promble if you make it one. Cheer up.

  • oooooo iam all of them nice one still i am doing microbiology at uni so i don't think it matters too much ha

  • i suck at math and reading so i guess i got 2 of them problems lol

  • Thank you so much for posting this video.

  • i have 3 types im makeing a book about dyslixia strated last mouth!

  • @leebmc91 i understand i have 3 of them i have good writeing tho

  • Fascinating - my daughter has all 4 types! She is very creative with her writing & her thinking. She has just returned to main stream public school in 6th grade, after 3 years at an amazing school for kids with dyslexia (Charles Armstrong School) & with an IEP & the accommodations, she is currently a straight A student & wants to stay that way! We are with her 100% of the way.

  • Fascinating - my daughter has all 4 types!

  • my math skill was good tell the 6th grade it seem that because of the way i had read books thati should had been in all special ed these had mest me up all the way to high school and maybe my hole life.

  • @eric73martinez

Get some one to look at your eyes when reading if they scan for right to left he has visual orientation preference Google The primary cause of dyslexia

  • I can't spell, and math is a mystery to me. For years I have felt stupid, and ashamed because of this so called "gift" Being that I want to get my RN someday, I have to work "harder"than most to learn what some take for granted. YET, when it comes to patient care, my insite, and intuition is excellent, and has helped me. I just wish I could get the "math" easier....algebra is very, very difficult..

  • @yankeegurl62 If you are scanning numbers from right to left you will transpose number look at for this once you understand that you are scanning numbers backwards you can compensate ask your self is it possible that this is happening to me?

  • @abcstan I never thought of that before, being raised in the western world, where we read left to right, but, I do notice, when I type, I tend to have typo's due to the fact that my fingers 'reverse' the letters...interesting huh? hummmmm

  • @yankeegurl62 Reverse the direction of there text you wont know till you try.

If you need proof print in capitals on tracing paper VUL-NER-ABLE with hyphens reveres the paper to read Rt / Lt allow 10 days acquire to spelling once you have done this you will understand what is happening send me a message if you have any questions

  • Holly crap that felt so natural not forced . LIke I usually have to ?

  • @mikest468 Pavlovien condition. Ivan Pavlov was a Russian scientist most famous for describing the psychological phenomenon referred to as a "conditioned response".

I have put some videos on youtube called The Primary Cause of Dyslexia.

Put your self in their place ,you are mucked at school by pupils and teacher the evidence is clearly in front of the child that he cant read or spell to save his/ her life.

So in short they rebel against every thing to do with there education.

  • I can read, but I am shamed by my spelling, and my math--basic at best. I can read upside down!! And, Backwards...strange, I know....

  • @yankeegurl62 When a Dyslexic misread “374” for “437” you are scanning the numbers from right to left That’s why you transpose the digests

  • DYSLEXIA Palindromes ----------------- ROTAVATOR

Can be scanned in ether direction if you are dyslexic scan from right to left

  • I have orthographic dyslexia ._.

  • i'm dyslexic. and by the looks of it, i have all four of them.

  • @eelnoside me too lololol

  • @eelnoside Check this video out -- the primary cause of dyslexia 4 this may be of interest to you

  • i have dyslexia and my math is just fine (doing just fine in 5u math cours) but all my languages are far below avarages (you see i can't spell meanwhille my english talking is great)

  • I have trouble saying alot of words, i get tongue tied alot. is that a symptom?

  • ok the discussion here is fine and all but the lady at the library needs to go.

  • Dyscalculia is mind destroying, trust me. My writing is great! ( Handing writing with a pencil, not so perfect, but hey that's humans, lol ) Gathering information to make stories and imagination is what I love to do, but math & numbers is what I fail to do. I think when I left school, my math was on a technical level and even below that.

  • my teacher says I have dyslexia. And I do. And i hate it

  • @xoiloveyouxo22 which makes you extremely talented.

  • Well.. Atleast now I have a reason to why I suck at math

  • I have dyslexia and I am going to Uni to get a bacholars degree as we speak. I have three of the types and it makes it very hard at times. however I could tell you anything about my subject at the drop of the hat. I also get asked to be the speaker in debates as I can think faster than anyone else in my classes.

  • Time to stop focusing on the attribute of what dyslexia is. Dyslexia is not a problem it is however an inequality for mainstream education. Too often there is more negativity placed on the disorder. Look at what is positive, not the reasons for being different. Education only helps those who fit the system. Dyslexia has abilities and is not a disability. Computers will help the dyslexic mind develop so you can adapt.

  • It makes me angry to hearso many people blame the 'school system'. Not all teachers are alike. I do cater for the needs of the kids I have. Computers do not help your mind develop. That is just silly. Computers can help you to hear spoken text or to organise the work you want to write or to spell check and grammer check it for you but a computer can only do what you tell it to. Don't get so hung up on the name, it's about how you overcome difficulties.

  • @rubberrimss When you misread “SAW” for “WAS” you are scanning the text from right to left

That’s why you transpose the digest. This is a disability not a gift

  • @rubberrimss Leonardo Da Vinci was a brilliant man and also dyslexic.

  • I have Dyslexia. I did not know about types till now.

It pisses me off that I when to the most privilege schools around and they just though I was kind of stupid. They did not know I got a learning problem.

Now I have a master degree and I still have problems writing in order and complete words and reading cuz words just moves.

I got so many problems with grammar classes I used to fail did not matter how hard I try!!!

Feels bad but I got over it with new technology as word

  • I have dyslexia and tell you truth i dont wish it on anyone... not a fun thing to go through

  • ....... please don't mind me asking but How can you type? do you only have the math-affecting one?

  • I was told i do have it in the math area. what do you mean " How can you type ?"

  • i have all of them i think sad but true

  • dysgrafia can also be ADHD or tourettes syndrome.

  • i have discalculia and the one after it

  • I have dyslexia! My reading is bad but I love to write.

  • @FannyMiley New definition for dyslexia

A person that has a genetic predisposition, because of subconscious involuntary eye movements, to scan their field of vision from right to left.

This is an inherited genetic variant that exacerbates all other problems associated with learning when reading left to right text

    work on your spelling

  • @FannyMiley me too!!! I hardly read but write lot of stuff.

  • @FannyMiley lol, im the exact oposite :D

  • I have dyslexia and dyscalculia .

Making videos with music and pictures for you tube is creative for me.

I also like to write even if i have spell problems .

  • if there is such a thing as these i have all of them but dyscalculia

  • my problem is in comprehension of a text, i can read a full paragraph and never catch the message, not to mention if I read a full page, the other area is in expresing my ideas I feel an overflow of ideas and cannot put them in order to say what I want to say, so I heard that this can be Dyslexia, Ireally don´t know, can anyone tell me if it is or if anyone knows what this can be related to.

  • @KOBINCRUZ funny I have this too.. never realized is wuz dyslectia

  • I have 2 of them.

    orthographic dyslexia, dysgraphia

  • my dislexia was found wen i was 21 way 2 late to fix now and mine is prety savier spalling maths all of it rold in 2 1 people at uni and collge dnt understand and i feel as if im an out cast i dnt fit in im now 24 in my secnd yeer of uni and its prety harrd haveing to

  • @pinstripe13

Hang in there once you get threw it real life is nothing like school for a lexic provided you can somehow manage to make you life's work something you love to do. If you have not read the book Gift Of Dyslexia by Ron Davis please do so it will open your eyes and give you some coping skills on how get by in a linear world. what you need to understand is you are not disabled but that you have a different thinking process Good Luck

  • @pinstripe13

It is not too late to get help, really. Research and find a dyslexia tutor or program in your area and do it. Put your university training on hold if you have to, and do the program intensely. You can improve hugely with help as an adult, you will see improvement within weeks.

  • AWesome!

  • Dyscalculia and dysgraphia is not dyslexia. It's not even seen in the same brain regions!

  • but they are realated in many ways if you have dyslexia you have a higher chance of 1) having dysgraphia 2) being left handed 3) being president.
