  • @Gourgandise

    That's true!

Mc solaar is a magician with words!

  • @RogeCharles big up to the translator : he did a perfect job !

  • This reminds me so much of living in Chantilly in the mid 90's - good times. You have to listen to Gainsbourg and Bardot to really appreciate it. MC Solar rocks! love it!

  • I finally found this song!

  • 0:19 Best part of the song.

  • oui, tres bien!!

  • He didnt swear or rap about bitches and cars. THIS is what rap SHOULD be

  • @ButterfingerBB Well actually he did curse, 1:24. And he did kinda rap about cow-boys in Arazona murdering one-another. But it's a good song none the less.

  • @AnalTittyCum At 1:24 he says "Pas de la chique"."Chique" is not a rude word it means *bad quality tobacco* (or something like that, I'm french...). About the meaning of this song, I guess Solaar uses the metaphor of the American western movies in order to describe the 90's french society. Nowadays (I mean the 1990's), young people are "corrupted" by the american way of life shown in movies, so they've lost the sense of what's right or wrong (1:56). They act with violence it's like a New Western

  • @ButterfingerBB liar, he said "chickenshit" haha :P

  • @Makolyte at least no "fuck" or "bitch"

  • Chaud quand même la profondeur du texte. On dirait qu'il a écrit la chanson avec une Encyclopédie à côté. Colonel Reyel si tu me lis... euh non laisse tomber en fait. :D

(no rage les gars c'est une blagounette)

  • Old times...

  • That's it. Now I have to learn french.

  • yeah I'm french I Know all music of Mc solaar and this beat was sampled the original track is Serge gainsbourg Bonny and clyde. Serge gainsbourg is a singer of french variety very famous but he died in 1991. The original track was release in 1968!!

  • 30 SE FONT ENCULER PAR BOOBA AHAHHAHA!

  • Is it made by Gondry? It looks like...

  • what is the song about, exactly?

  • @robcypher Nouveau Western.

  • @robcypher "The new western" its an analysis of modern day action-oriented content/material in our entertainment which parallels the old school western flicks from back in the day. Read the subtitles to get a narrative of the story by Solaar.

  • @robcypher The song also has a political aspect, as Solaar explains how American culture exports violence and other things to other markets, audiences and cultures.

  • ahhh yee classic

  • La musique du début, c'est du Gainsbourg.

McSolaar lui fait un bel hommage, entre gens de talent.

  • mc solaar was involved wth guru on le bien le mal

    cheers from Paris

  • @MrLouisfc Thanks!/ Merci!

  • @RedCrayonMan

You can try a group called "I AM" ("Je danse le mia"; "Petit frere").

  • @RedCrayonMan Check out a group called Hocus Pocus, they're top drawer.

  • J'adore un film (is that right?) lol, :D French rap is so much better than American rap!!! Emine (sp?) can't hold a flame to MC Solaar!

  • Is the instrumental for this out?

  • Wow, been listening to several of his albums for 15+ years. Seeing a translation actually hurts the experience of the song. MC Solaar had one of the smoothest flows of the 90s and frankly it didn't matter that you only understood one sentence in five (Did a bit of french in school). He also had no hardcore/gangster pretensions at all and just rapped about anything that interested him.

As others have posted IAM (from marseille) have a harder-edged sound.

  • He has a catchy French sound. But, 'Gold Rushes' in Arizona? A 'citroen park, wild west fuedal system' and the other remarks. I don't think he has a clue what the wild west is....or the new wild west. I see so many Europeans trying to write poetry about the United States without a clue. Take this song for example, one gets the impression he has never been to Arizona. There is a border war going on down here. There are somethings the French can do, and some they should never do. THIS IS ONE!

  • @Rossdhu16

You shouldn't analyse this song in the first degree. Solaar makes a comparaison between old westerns and a little gangster, Harry, who lives in Paris. It's a metaphor during all the song. That's why the "citroen", it concerns the part in Paris. The gold rush is of course a reference to westens, but just to say that Harry only think about become rich. When he speaks about feodal system, it's again a metaphore about a few people who have all the profits.

  • @ypleuh I am not, I speak French so I ignore the English and understand it on a higher level. I have to admit it is growing on me. But it is not well produced. I get the metaphores. It just a creative way to express. It is very smooth in sound. It is just when you live in the "West" and you do not see anything from it in a song supposedly about it. It doesn't ring quite true. The more I listen to it, the more I like it.

  • @Rossdhu16 i cant speak french and i didn't read the subtitles but i thought it were pretty fucking good anyway

  • @Rossdhu16

Arizona is chosen to play with "Harry zona" in French. Solaar plays a lot with words during the whole song and you can't see it in English.

And it's more the western showed by Hollywood than the real western who interressed him for his comparaison: "John Wayne; Gary Cooper; Seven mercenaries"; etc.. There are a lo of references to movies.

  • @ypleuh I got that part. Thanks!

  • @Rossdhu16 lol u just dont get it!!! lol

guess u like the taste ur feet

  • does anyone know how old this song is?

i just heard it the other because my french teacher played it while we were working.

  • My French teacher put us to listen to MC Solaar yesterday during class, I only used to like RAMMSTEIN as my only foreign band, now I like MC Solaar as my only foreign rapper.

  • @erickromeroalvarez You can watch ''Stromae'' and ''Sexion d'assault" both sing in French. Stromae was number 1 during many weeks in whole Europe, and sexion d'assault it's an amazing and popular French rap.

    sexion d'assaut : watch?v=ySG7MpRMAbI&ob=av2el

    stromae clip : watch?v=7pKrVB5f2W0

  • @burtoncaly Sorry but Sexion d'assault has nothing to do with Mc Solaar or Stromae, SA is a 100% commercial "rap" band. IAM, NTM, those are really good rap bands !

  • @MrPolynome LOL stromae real band XD stromae it's pur commercial man ...

  • Like hot butter on a womens body . . .smoooth.

  • this man killed Guru...sometimes

  • @Pr0lifik

No superproducer Solar did. Theres two fucking persons. MC solaar (This guy) And Solar who produced some of the jazzmatazz albums. Get your facts straight.

  • @INNTANA damn man, how are things in there? getting any better? much love from finland.

  • @INNTANA the "woooho " beat is a sample from "bonnie and clyde " by Serge Gainsbourg . but ok the rest is by our genius mc solaar

  • @INNTANA that beat is a sample from a serge gainsbourg song called bonnie and clyde.

  • @INNTANA yeah japan we rock it france and japan 2 gether man we been watching your mangas too dun when we were little hey!!!!!!!!!!! :)

I LOVED the track by Solaar with Ron Carter on Red Hot and Cool and this extends that feeling nicely..sounds like it was made around the same time?

Not a bad video either considering they had a small budget.. After this time period

Hip Hop hit the skids big time.

Salut flingueur !

  • The song in the beginning... what's it called again? Before he started to rap. I know I've heard it in some other song before, but I just can't seem to place it.

  • @TheCarlScharnberg

serge gainsbourg - bonnie and clyde

  • @buzzerede I love you for this. Thanks.

  • I'm French, I saw him in a concert in Paris and i can assure you that it rocks.

One of the best French rapper, I've heard.

His sample from "Bonnie and clyde" is also amazing,as the original from Gainsbourg, you should take a look.
