If Gibbs were the spokesman for a private company he would have been fired a long time ago. He's awful. He's unfriendly, condescending, smug and arrogant as he squirms like a slug in front of that podium.

The reason no one yelled at the President is the fact he is the President. Opponents of healthcare "reform" are not as the media and the Democrats would like to portray them. We want a real debate of the merits. The fact is that the President is not being honest with the American people. He wants single payer. He has said so many times.

However if what he said is true, and the public option MUST be self-sustaining, then I would support it. The problem is you cannot accept what he said.

It's the first issue that the media isn't entirely supporting Obama's position on. However, a large segment still will support him regardless.

The media's job is to always be skeptical of government officials and challenge them. This part has been a major failure since they are clearly on the side of liberals on pretty much every issue.

This healthcare issue is so forcefull as a backlash that they are less liberal oriented in the coverage since they will be punished by lack of viewership.

Two government health programs, medicare and medicaid currently insure about 80 million people. Of the 220 million other Americans, over 70 million were without health insurance for some part of last year and about 45 million were without it during the whole year. Over 100 million people out of 220 million have trouble getting or staying insured.

This bill will remedy that situation.

Also, it will increase productivity, so that the United States can once again compete in the world market.

If you want to compete with the world market, then remove NAFTA and stop giving corporations tax breaks for sending their work overseas.

I agree with with the Nafta elimination and the stopping of tax breaks for corporations that ship jobs overseas.

However, spending money to get out of debt is how most businesses do get out of debt. A business usually gets into debt because they can no longer compete in a market. They usually borrow and spend a great deal of money to retool their factories and retrain their workers. This increases their debt for a time, but it also increases their ability to compete and eliminate their debt.
