As bad as I feel for you, and I will have you in my thoughts, hoping that you are okay. There is always a positive to things, at least this condition will lead into healthier eating habits and routines that will essentially make you a healthier person. I wish you all the best Ernie, and I hope you continue making videos!
@andy1298 Thank you for your kind thoughts. There are many positives that I've discovered after my diagnosis. It's focused my life on things that really matter.
Diabetes it's not a disease you can transmiti via blood tissue, but Hepatitis does. I'm now considering making an early retirement from what I have learned to love.
I was diagnosed with Hepatitis C a month ago, but the doctors where running test on me since june 2011, I know its is not Diabetes but its still a chronic disease. I'm following your channel since you helped someone on how to disassemble and take care of his japanese sword. In part, was because of you the reason why I entered to practice Kendo, in México there is no many places where you could practice it.
@shylildude Diabetes doesn't go away. It's permanent. There are beta cells in the pancreas that produce Insulin. 50% or more of my beta cells died off and they don't grow back or regenerate. I have to exercise to burn off excess sugar in my blood that doesn't get absorbed by my body, and I have to restrict carbohydrates which would be converted into sugar and dumped into my blood stream. I have to experiment to balancing my diet to maintain a safe level of blood glucose.
@TheShotgunSaint Nothing to be sorry about. I'm sharing my experience because I hope that my example will inspire others to refrain from poor eating habits and obesity. This is a big test in my life, but it's also a great opportunity for me to do good deeds.
I havent watched any of your recent videos, but man you look completely different, maybe it's that im used to less facial hair and glasses, but you look nice. My mother has diabetes as well, she is much older than you, but it just requires lots of strength, physical and mental. So keep strong, and all the best from me!
@arsy123 Thanks! I'm not wearing glasses because my blood pressure has changed the shape of my eyes and has thrown off my prescription. I've gotten lots of comments from co-workers about how much weight I've lost and they think I've dropped enough and should stop just because I "look" thin. What many fail to realize is that my pancreas can no longer support a 200+ lbs. person.
