  • The challenger was probably a stock 340 since stock 340s run low 14s and the 318 in the dart obviously had mods done.

  • My Dream is to get a 1970 Dodge Challenger, take out the engine, put in a 392 Hemi or a 472 Hemi, a Paxton supercharger, automatic transmission, top of the line anti-sway suspension, racing tires, custom rims, new black leather interior, air conditioner, new radio, a new sound system, and paint the car orange with racing stripes!

  • im thinking of getting a dodge challenger 318 for my learners but i dont know if i will be aloud to drive a left hand drive.. i live in aus btw.. any1 know if i will be aloud??

  • Think to take a wagon-like car with four doors, old car from the 60s or 70s as an example, make the car overall more modified in chassi, body e.t.c(or stock body more or less), put an enourmus V8 with minimum 540 c.ui., way more than 1000 bhp, 4 speed, giant blower on top of it with birdcather, alot of racing decals, full interior with stereo, alot of passangers(if it fits), maybe drunk passangers swinging the arms out of the windows when pulling a wheelie and race the hell out of the car =)

  • thats stock time dumbass. Most people restore older cars instead of modding them. Some do mod them though. THe respond extremely well to it. Id rather have a stock show car doing 14s though.

  • The 340 heads WILL work on a 318 with no modifications. The problem comes in when you try to install the big 2.02 valve X heads on a 273 V8 Then you will have to notch the block

  • to imberish, it depends on wat year your powerwagon is, and im guessing that this 318 in the dart is a wideblock 70's and before 73 they put out about 230 horse power as far as i know and the wideblock can be bored out to dam near a 360 and slap 360 heads on in although i dont think 340 heads with work with the 318. please let me know if any of my info is wrong

  • 340 heads on a 318 can be done BUT the 318's block has to modified top of the bores have to be champhered or relieved as the 340 chambers and valves are too large adn the valve's will hit the bore.. thats what they tell me anyway, i looked into it ages ago,

    but the alloy commando heads are just 340 heads in alloy and they can be used on the 318 but you gotta specify they're going on a teen

  • Just my 2 cents worth, I have a 318 in my powerwagon and it is no match for the 340. The bore on the 318 is 3.91 and the stroke is short and identical to the 340. You would have to bore the 318 out .120 which is almost impossible to give it the same bore as the 340 (no cloning going on there unless you like paper thin cylinder walls!!!)The 318 wakes up with the 340 cam, bigger valves, headers, shaved deck, 10.1 compression, flat top pistons, good 4 barrel carb and most important ld4b intake!!!

  • It's nice that the guy had such confidence in his Dart.And I liked that it was a four door.But the 318 is only a match for the 340.I got the impression,the guy in the Challenger was going just fast enough to win.

  • My brother-in-law,who fixes cars for a living---and has had a Dodge Dart in the past,led me to believe that with comparatively minor reworking;the 318 in my 77 Aspen stationwagon could be a 340.I've also read,that with the proper carbuerator a 318 would be just as powerfull as a base model 340.

  • after you change the valve springs and open up the ports....the valves float around 5000 RPMs with stock springs...

  • Um... No. Here, I'll trry to help but take what you want from it. The 318 has a smaller bore, like 3.80". The 340 has a stock bore of 4.04". Big material diffrance! The 318 CAN make good power, ut you'll need more than a good carb to get it. But you CAN do it. It's just a bit more work.

  • The 340 is based off a 318. You can make a 340 clone out of a 318.

    A 318 with 10.1-11.0 comp. and the right rear end in the right car will rival most Big Block Mopars

  • That's in Switzerland. You can tell by the train and the sponsors and the fact that there are 4 official languages in Switzerland....German and Frech included.
