Hey Branford whats up man my name is Rashad Maybell can i take lessens wit u via webcam, plz, i want to play around the changes to jazz like u and stop getting lost, do u have time to teach me some musical patterns and cliches i can use around the changes.
You got to talk to him? Damn you're lucky. I want to go to UMich so I can study with him. I've also heard that the other guys in Wynton's quintet used to call him Little Ron because he sounded so much like Ron Carter.
Yeah, man! I go to UMich. He's my Prof. If your in Ann Arbor, I could let him know and possibly set up a lesson. He is a really great teacher. Some cats can play, but can't teach; some cats can teach, but can't play; Bob Hurst is a master of both. I take it that you are a bass player, then?
P.S. I've never listened to him much on mid-tempo standards, more on modern shit like Delfeayo's Dilemma and Spartacus and tunes like that, but I can definitely hear P.C. on this sort of progression.

Love Branford Marsalis, he's is an extension of J. S. Bach's approach, measured but at the boundary of acceptable.

I hear some Jimmy Garrison in Bob Hurst's playing here... very nice.

Yes! Dead on! He told me that Jimmy was one of his first influences. He's got a lot of PC in him, too.

If you expect to get knowing you standards in only one key you will not get work. You have to know all your charts in all 12 keys.

Bird used to play cherokee in all 12 keys at gigs sometimes.
