I really don't have a problem with Gary and, and, and,,,,,,well Gary and a bunch of guys playing the Skynyrd song's, but they really should at this point, call themselfes something different, because the day Ronnie stopped singing those GREAT songs, is the day LS ceased to exist IMO, I know people who have seen them over the last 20-30 years and said they r still VG. However never met anyone who seen both the original band w/ Ronnie and the rest even try to compare them, no way, no how!

I like that lineup, But I think Kid Rock & Hank Jr ought to be in tht crowd somewhere. Southernboy, I miss Ronnie VanZant as much as you, not to mention Steve & Cassie Gaines, Allen Collins, Billy Powell, Ean Evans, Huey Thomason & Leon Wilkeson, but Lynyrd Skynyrd is probably the best example of resiliency in the rock'n'roll business in the way they have & continue to do good work. Couldn't have said it better myself Bughead. Keith Urban is a great guitarist, but his songs are garbage. Montgomery Gentry and McGraw possess no talent whatsoever. I've noticed Rossington and his county fair band continue to call themselves Skynyrd even after the passing of Billy Powell. They try to pass Medlocke off as an original , further trashing the legacy . Blackfoot was his band, and they sucked ass! Ed King still plays Skynyrd tunes, but has the class to call it a tribute band.

Us purists are most definitely in the minority. The sad truth is, people consuming this stuff not only don't know the history of great bands, but don't care to. One other thing that pains me about this video...Dickey Betts and Elvin Bishop on stage with this bunch of wannabe hacks is disgraceful. Kid Rock is also on this bandwagon if you haven't noticed. My level of devotion to the Allman Brothers took a huge dip when they allowed him to appear on stage with them at this year's Beacon Run.

I agree 100%-I always thought the Allman Brothers were a good example of how TO go about things-still true to the music despite the changes, still doing it for the right reasons, still amazing...never selling out. Hopefully hooking up with the likes of Kid Rock isn't a sign of things to come. Will always be a Duane, Dickey and Berry Oakley devotee (ah...fucking Mountain Jam!) but the present day ABB is everything that "Skynyrd" isn't.

Only 2 members of the actual band dies in that crash. As of this concert, Gary and Billy from the original line-up are still playing. Johnny is singing in place of his brother Ronnie. And Ricky, on rhythm guitar was a drummer for a brief time in Skynnyrd before the crash. Billy recently passed away though, so the future of the band is up in the air.

Thats his younger brother Johnny and only Steve Gaines (Guitar) Cassie Gaines (Backup vocals) and Ronnie Van Zant (Singer) died in the crash the rest have passed away through out the years. The only remaining member is thier slide/lead guitarist Gary Rossington who carries the torch along with johnny van zant.
