It reminds me of back to the future when martys guitar solo on jonny b good went way too long and everyone was like wtf.. This group suck the life out of what little meaning chrismas had cant wait till they break up!!!!!!
Yes Alex is back with Testament, seen them in Pittsburgh in November. But he also has said if TSO is in need of a guitarist he will help. They also have Marty Friedman who used to play with Megadeth playing with them sometimes.
@wrawrer yeah unfortunately :( probably to continue work with testament. Chris caffery is still in the band but Alex was the best in my opinion. He played with feeling as this video reflects
One of my favorite Christmas songs of all time, Then you add this guys lead guitar on top of it...Amazing!!!, Just Love all those high notes, Stretching those strings all the way to the Heaven and back, Simply Devine.... :)
Usually only like a very few metal songs, and I do mean very few, and those that I do like, just catch my ear somehow. I never thought I would enjoy hearing a favorite Christmas song done with a metal sound. But this is just awesome. First it was Mannheim, now these guys. Incredible.
@Mannifrizzle Yep! Skolnick played w/ Testament, Savatage, TSO, and also has a jazz trio called the Alex Skolnick Trio (just got home from seeing them actually). Fucking versatile as hell!
First of all , Al Pitrelli is the best . No one is a close second . But in the east shows Skolnick was always very good . Joel acts like he's auditioning for a spot in KISS . Not exactly what we want at a Christmas show .
BRING BACK SKOLNICK . If not ,tone it down Joel , and keep your tongue in your mouth .
Absolutely amazing. That's what feeling what you're playing is all about. Nailing the parts and entertaining the audience is the number one priority here.
The solo in "Trial By Fire" brought me to respect the man Skolnick. I bought New World Order and then fell in love with Practice What You Preach and Souls Of Black. The solo work on those albums is just incredible. IMO he blows Hammett, Freidman, King, and most other trash lead players out of the arena. This was another awesome job here.
Rust In Peace is my favorite Megadeth album. I'm just a huge Testament fan, their music has so much cajones. Skolnick has had quite a diverse career; Testament, Savatage, Alex Skolnick Trio, and now TSO....possibly something I forgot. He is a well rounded musician and not just into "shred". Marty is the same way though, I guess he parted from Megadeth for similiar reasons that Skolnick left Testament. The both rock so hard!!
Their not just xmas music? Thats funny because i dont hear them playing any where after the seasons over.

Yeah, kerry king in my opinion never thrilled me as far as soloing. Marty's playing, I always liked. RUST IN PEACE!

Have you heard Marty and Jason Becker in Cacophony and Marty's Dragon's Kiss albums? That's pure soloing right there =P
