Its a genetic thing. If they have on their bloodlines, the genetic code of their parents, that should have the hability to Roll, they will start doing the same acrobatic moves in about 3 months old.
If the pigeon is son of a non performance breed like common pigeon he will not perform, or son of a perform pigeon versus a non-performer it will also not perform.
It's always better to have an older bird that perform among the young ones in a way that the young can learn the acrobatic moves by watching the older ones.
