I am 56 years old sitting in front of my computer and crying like a baby listening to this song. Every time I get a little emotional, I pop Dan on the turntable (yep, I have most of his albums on vinyl and CD) and and escape the realities of life for awhile. Miss you Dan!!
"I used to think of myself as a soldier, holding my own against impossible odds ..."
"You used to be something I could believe in ..."
"We used to live like there was no tomorrow ..."
Show me one person alive who CAN'T relate to these three sentiments, who doesn't know EXACTLY what he's singing about. Dan captures life so thoroughly with this song! "Oh but These Days, are just like you and me ..."
I have been waiting, waiting, WAITING for this post!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Dan ... you are missed, especially today. Thank you for the tunes, for the melodies, for the memories. I, too, "used to think of myself as a soldier, holding (my) own against impossible odds ..."
I knew I had been feeling you girlfriend, now, I understand why..another wonderful Dan tribute..you always help me remember just how wonderful he was...will never forget seeing him in Little Rock with the Eagles..had his jersey on..looking good and sounding fantastic...sounds just as great "These Days" Thank you always, Donna
My best friend and I went to see Dan when he came through Birmingham in the mid 70's! He performed this song and at the end, where it fades on the record, he turned it into a jam that lasted another 5 or six minutes and brought the house down! It's still one of my favorite individual concert performances!
Thank you, Donna, for yet another tribute to our Minstrel. This video is perfect...and I'm sure Dan thinks so too! Happy Birthday Dan! I listened to your music all day!
Beautifully done from the beginning to the end, especially the opening was so romantic that touched my heart, I am so love your expression of "FREE", it feels soo good...Donna, I am sure Dan is happy above us for your artistic creation and we really appreciate your posting in memory of our beloved Dan! Happy Birthday Dan! Ever on...
Missing you Dan, "These days, you are Free", wonderful to sing along with you still, these days down here, "Tasting our trials a day at a Time". Thank you so much beggarsgame! Scotty W.

I sold this LP in Texas when it was shiny and new
and the shine and newness lives on today.
Righteous, soul wrenching emotive music.
