Ive been watching this super sonic gig a fair bit and noticed that it actually has alot more mistakes (especially from matt) and to be honest I kinda like it, it makes them all seem more human, cause normally their gigs are normally more perfect then most other bands studio recordings, its god damn freakish.

@webros16 studio lines are perferfect infact if you listen to the hysteria very closely and it's there most obvouse mistake is the second verse of the bass line you can hear a scratching noise and this was done because matt decided to play bass put he used a pick it does add to the song though but not done on purpose.

@ad1170 Well, actually if you listen even more closely the 'scratching' noise you are hearing is actually the muted picking of the bassline played by the GUITAR. They dont play it live on the guitar very often because it's difficult, and near impossible to play and sing at the same, also slightly unnecessary, it sounds fucking amazing just on the bass.

Firstly the riff was originally invented on the guitar, recording it would have been a case of while the guitar is plugged in let's see what it sounds like, Wow that sounds cool, but we don't wanna compete with the melody so we'll turn it down. Muse fucked around inside the studio more then any band I've seen because they were having fun with it every day. And for fucks sake just listen to the part in the 2nd verse, it's too high to be bass.

That has a lot to do with the synth effect that Chris (bass player) uses. Basically, he uses his bass both as a normal bass but also as a controller for the synth that plays along with his bassline.
