I'm totally straight and i'd go gay for Stew, circa '83. Please note, I wasn't even born til 1991 and my parents named me after him. My sister was named after Alex from Rush. ;)
All I can say, is that I have been listening to The Police since I was 12 (in 1983), and I can never stop listening to their songs. Copeland's drumming was and is very modern even somewhat post-modern. Just my $0.06.
All the greats were a little crazy, completely crazy or had a tourtured soul..Morrison, Van goh, Michael Jackson, Coltrane,Einstein, Billy Holliday, Curt Cobain,
the video is a "Stewart Copeland Masterclass" i think it is in the "related videos" here. the funny thing, if you watch that vid, he uses the blue TAMA set, which is set up out of frame from what you see in this video.
love that rotary cymbal in the beginning... if you have the synchronicity concert stewart hits it and lets it spin at the end of "footsteps" the goes right into "message in a bottle" that was a pretty neat image to me. he 's one of the few that treats drums as a musical instrument and really understands it all
I Like! He used the Synclavier to record that track, right?

The song is called Music Box, it's from The Equalizer and Other Cliff Hangers, excellent record for its time and style.

He didn't know what kind of genre Copeland plays, but damn, he was paying respect to him
People can be so..immature
Long live Copeland

Have to correct myself. It may or may be not a piece of Equalizer soundtrack. But it is taken from the album "The Equalizer & Other Cliff Hangers".
