Is it true that if you keep a crocodile in a fishbowl when it's a baby, it will stay small?

But that then if the crocodile ever gets out, even for a second, it will immediately grow really huge? And eat you?

Because that's what I read one time. But my brother says that's "the stupidest thing" he's ever heard.
