  • Jus like,GBCOne says....I think that this is Elton John's Unc !!!

  • "Chin Of The Day!"

  • Denis Law been on the job just before getting miked up..........good lad!

  • haha! I was thinking he looked like a right dog's dinner there too!

  • Its Rod Stewart!!

  • If that's the same Roy Dwight who played in the 1959 F.A. Cup Final, then that was Elton John's uncle.

  • .........and of course Jimmy Hill confirmed it. I really should let the clip play out before adding a comment :-(

  • premium bonds! every week bloody premium bonds!

I always thought jimmys chin looked like the front of a trainer (or sneaker for our american friends) with that beard, maybe nike cortez, wossreckon?

  • premium bonds! every week bloody premium bonds!

  • the presenter looks like Roger Whitaker (or Twitaker if you are into Benny Hill)

  • Wow, amazing to see such an old clip of Match of the Day but from Australia! This was not long after you guys got colour TV! Thanks from the UK

  • Dennis Law looks like Rod Stewart!!

  • Or just got out of bed ....

  • Wow, many thanks for sharing this, is this the only clip you have? or do you have the full show?

  • The whole match of the Day January 1976 episode was recorded on U-matic video. However, most of the episode was wiped over in March 1977. This is all we have.

  • "Simple but well looked after goal." How do you look after a goal lol. Dennis looks like he has been dragged through a hedge backwards.

  • Subsequent to the initial BBC broadcast, the Australia ABC TV broadcast date would have been delayed - perhaps approximately 1 month later.

  • The original BBC broadcast date was Saturday 3rd January 1976.

  • Gotta love the dress sense of Denis Law and Jimmy Hill has a interesting Goatie.

  • those were the days when the ABC used to telecast UK soccer highlights every week. "Match of the Day" (as well as Fred Villiers' soccer segment on HSV7's "World of Sport") was my introduction to what is now the English Premier League and was not to be missed. I followed my team Arsenal through these shows, and I still follow them today.

  • This is quite rare! 1976 video in colour!
